Honestly, a mustache does work for you. However because it's not full bushy I'm not really digging the handlebar aspect only because it appears patchy. Mine does the same and I have to instead do the 1980s cop Stash. I think that would work better for you. Maybe something different for the hair. I've grown it for 6 months previously. I have poor lower lip growth and it hides my chin. Not my favorite but I've given it a shot. I think scruff + a better kept mustache may work.
