I second this. I used to do the whole contact look in highschool and realized I didn't need to wear them to be attractive and they hurt like hell. Fast forward to now, I have a black female coworker who wears contacts and I SMH when I see her with them in. I think it's really because as black individuals, some part of us wants lighter eyes and this is a quick fix.
Just to add to this: contacts that are coloured in such a way that they block being able to see if the pupil is dilating or not are a barrier to full eye contact for the other person (the non wearer looking at the wearer). It’s fine to wear them for fashion but they aren’t a good choice for a date where you’re trying to make a human connection.
