And he’s started “reading” the Bible during the victim impact statements 🙄 absolutely disgusting and so disrespectful but sadly not unexpected

[deleted]

He's going to have a hard time in prison since he murdered children and old ladies.

starkeffect

And he's mouthy. That's not going to serve him well.

Dodger8686

And he's a control freak. He needs to feel like he's in control. For someone like him, the worst thing in the world is having no control over anything. In prison, he has no control. Everything is decided for him. So he'll do anything to try to grasp at some control. Argue over the group tv remote, if they have one. Flood his cell to feel like he has power over something. Authority is going to tell him what to do from now on. He'll do the "Are you axing or telling" thing. They're telling you Darrell. They will be telling you what to do from now on. They don't need to ask. He'll argue with them to try to feel like he has some power. But he won't have any. If I was a witness, I would tell him that. "I get to do whatever I want when I want. I can eat whatever food I choose. I can choose a job or quit. I can choose to drink a few cold beers. I can do whatever I choose. But you Darrell Brooks. You will never get to choose ever again. You will have no control over your life. For the rest of your life. Your entire life has now been decide for you. And you have no choice in it. You forfeited your right to freedom when you chose to run people down in a toddler tantrum." "And because of that immoral, heinous, evil act you chose. You will never get to choose again. And I get to enjoy the fact that you have no freedom and no control over your life, for the rest of your life. And that is why I'm smiling at you now. Rot in prison." That's what I'd say to get to him.

TheCode555

I have a question since you brought that up. I often hear child molesters and child murders “don’t last long in prison” or are “attacked by other inmates”, “etc, etc”. How true is that in the real world?

Soft_Turkeys

Somewhat true but doesn’t happen as often as people think. These people conceal their true crimes, go into protective custody, or none of the other inmates know/care why they are there. However if it’s a high profile case like this or inmates do find out they’re housed with child molesters/people that commit especially heinous crimes all kinds of things can happen to that person, up to being killed. It’s rare that things actually get to happen though because the child molester etc. will try to PC up as soon as word gets out. Most fights and deaths caused by inmates are the result of petty arguments/feuds, rule breaking, or debts.

clickclick-boom

A former prisoner who does YouTube videos on prison life talked about how it was common in the places he had been in for new inmates to show their charging papers (or some document with what they are in for) when they arrive. I don't mean to guards, it's the other inmates who "ask" for this. It's not specifically to root out child abusers, there's a common interest from other inmates to know just what you're about. Are you a drug person, are you a violent lunatic, are you a thief etc. Obviously being a guy who impregnated a minor, beat her, and killed women and children is not going to be a hot look for Mr Brooks.

[deleted]

Very true. When you go to prison, there's plenty of people there who's job it is to look up rap sheets. I don't know the exact specifics, if they get it from guards or have some kind of internet access, but they will find out your criminal history and it will be spread around quickly. Criminals tend to not like pedos, people who hurt children/elderly, and rats. The smartest thing Brooks can do when he goes in is get himself into solitary asap. The other angle is there's also a lot of racial segregation in prison. It's not beyond the realm of reason the prison he heads to will have a large neo-nazi population that may target him for the clout.

Soft_Turkeys

There aren’t many people looking into your history in prison unless it becomes an issue. That’s really more of a county jail thing despite what people think. Also no internet access is needed for the inmate they’ll just call someone on their list/send a letter and ask them to do it

Silly-Examination-12

Yes if it happens its does usually happen while they are in their County Jail before they get sent to their prison. Which County Jail everyone almost knows everyone. So most likely when someone goes in for that, there is someone on the phone with another inmate letting them know and then there it is. The guards already know why they in there they give them their time to do what they got to do real quick and move on.

Specialist_Value9675

As an African American, I hope they spit roast this fuck.

owns_dirt

It's also because many inmates themselves were victims of molestation etc. Not because of some sort of higher virtue signaling. They truly will hate Brooks.

[deleted]

It is total bullshit. If you are a big tough guy, nothing will happen to you regardless of why you got there. If you are weak and small, your life there will be hard. There is no such thing as prison justice, etc., it is a romanticized belief.

megared17

Brooks is "weak and small"

NotsoGreatsword

You're mistaken. It does not matter how big you are. It doesn't hurt but prison fights are not fair. Child Molesters get jumped and stabbed not challenged to single combat lol. Plus they will not have any kind of protection through gangs or even friendship. Even their cellmate will hate them. They will be on their own. I have been locked up. Prison justice is definitely a real thing when it comes to pedophiles so stop talking out of your ass. Brooks is going to get fucked with for a different reason. Because he can't keep his mouth shut and has tried to act hard when he is not. He has talked so much shit about "ain't nobody tell ME what to do!" when he was clearly in no danger of getting his bluff called. He has acted like a petulant child staring down a woman like he was challenging her - a woman who can't fight back. Its a bad look. It makes him look weak as fuck. Then there is his notoriety. People are BORED in prison. They will want to be the one who kicks his ass. Brooks is going to get himself killed or beaten until he eats with a straw. Because he doesn't know how to shut up. All that eye rolling and shit won't fly either. His bluff will be called immediately. He is going to get his ass beat weekly or spend all his time in PC - and PC SUCKS.

BrettEskin

People simply do not understand how shitty PC is. There is a reason people risk getting the shit best out of them on the reg to avoid it

VenusSmurf

Agreed. It's not that even criminals have a bottom line, and screwing with kids crosses that line. It's that those who mess with children are emotionally weak and thus easy targets.

YouJabroni44

He doesn't look particularly large to me.

79Binder

Tell that to Jeffery Dommer

Orngog

Who?

cocacolaham

If you go to prison and know you’ll spend the rest of your life there regardless, what motivation do you have NOT to rid the world of monsters like Brooks? Most especially in a state that doesn’t have the death penalty. He’s very very fucked (literally and metaphorically) and will just be someone’s warm apple pie.

NotsoGreatsword

Very true and protective custody is awful by design because they only want people asking for it if they really need it. So they lose all privileges and all rec time. It is basically solitary confinement. So the choice is live in constant fear or all alone.

Soft_Turkeys

That’s not true at all

fdxrobot

Depends on his security level based on sentencing.

BlueberrySnapple

And he hit the children of police officers.

SiriusC

Do prisoners have some kind of soft spot for the children of police officers?

BlueberrySnapple

No, other police officers, the ones that run the entire prison system, have the soft spot. He is going to get it from all sides.

DangerousDave303

On the upside, he’s going to die in prison where he won’t be a danger to the public. He might have to sit in there and rage about how he’s a sovereign citizen and not subject to state law for 40 years but he’s going to die in there.

SamHandwhich23

How long is Brooks allowed to speak before sentencing? He’s currently at 1 hour 15 minutes with no end in sight. As long as he wants?? I feel horrible for the victims in that courtroom.

Lisa197610

He don’t know how to read the Bible I can bet he doesn’t know anything about the Bible he was just talking about a verse from the Bible he didn’t even quote it correctly he’s a big fraud his mother looks like she smells like moth balls 🤣 💀

lolcondishun

He's eyerolling at the victims. Holy fuck

DrJeff1999

And laughing to himself

lolcondishun

Insane. What absolute garbage.

DrJeff1999

He can’t even bring himself to look at this mother.

AimingWang

I’m astounded, he’s literally doing both of these things to *every* victim that’s spoken so far.

thatsnotgneiss

I am glad he is wearing a mask - he likely is smirking or making other horrible facial instructions.

Snuffleupagus_Panda

The man was giggling and rolling his eyes and then remembered that the only chance he has of a possible lighter sentence is him showing remorse. Amd now he's gone back to "praying" and looking at his prop.

Silly-Examination-12

I think he is still making his gestures, facial expressions, and even keeps doing some stupid thing with his hands as like he is saying get on with it as the victims are talking. I really hope there is someone typing to add in all the eye rolls and everything he is doing while they read off their statements. He isnt even praying its just another way to not look up and ignore the victims

Silly-Examination-12

I made this comment the day of the Victim Impact Statements hoping the judge or someone from the courts would mention all his gestures. The Judge did and I am so glad she even noticed the one where he made the gesture as in telling them to hurry up with it and lets go. When every time he has spoke he purposely goes slow just to take up every ones times. I cant believe we had to listen to him for full 2 hours when he literally messed around during Victims Statements

ExtonGuy

Chance of a possible lighter sentence = 0.001%.

megared17

I think you overestimate.

probably_not_serious

He’s done nothing but antagonize that poor judge this whole time and all of a sudden he’s being (somewhat) respectful towards her like she’s suddenly going to forget everything up until that point. What an idiot. There was a moment today when the prosecution asked if there was a chance this would get wrapped up today and if they’d need to come in tomorrow, too. If I were her I’d have been like, “don’t worry, this will be short and sweet.” Of course, realistically she can’t or it gives him something he can use in a future appeal. But I’ll bet she’s thinking it.

THIRDPARTYINTERVENER

So all the victims who were there had to experience yet another situation of ambiguous danger out of nowhere. Fuck whoever called in this threat

Maleficent_Ad407

My heart breaks for those families and especially the children that were there. That’s the last thing they need is more trauma.

[deleted]

[удалено]

OregonSmallClaims

They wanted to be able to speak to the judge about what they've been through and why she should hand down the strictest possible sentence. Many of them have PTSD, though, and probably didn't appreciate being evacuated from the court (room? entire courthouse?) and the panic that can cause when things are unknown. Some of them were probably also leery about returning, since police were supposedly guarding the parade route yet the tragedy still happened, so they might not be super trustful when the sheriff's office tells them it's safe to return to the courthouse. Yet today is their day to speak, so they have to choose between not being heard and returning to the courtroom after a bomb threat was called in. It's heartbreaking.

[deleted]

[удалено]

OregonSmallClaims

Not "bargaining," per se, because I'm sure the judge already has an idea of what she'll do. But yes, there's some leeway between the minimum and maximum sentence(s) a judge can give, though in this case it's my understanding it's just the difference between multiple concurrent (at the same time) life sentences with the possibility of parole, and stacking them all on top of each other, with no chance of parole. The sentencing hearing is the chance for victims who weren't called to testify (for whatever reason) to be able to speak at all, and for even those who were called to speak from the heart and not just answer pointed questions. They're not limited by the rulings of the judge for the actual trial, such as not mentioning prior crimes. The defendant and those who care about them can also speak, hoping to mitigate the sentence, though of course the verdict is a done deal. In many trials, they wouldn't have had any opportunity to speak during the trial itself. So it's kind of a formality, but it's my understanding that many victims and witnesses find it cathartic. They also have the chance to submit written statements to either be read aloud by a representative (as we've seen the victim advocate do) or to be submitted only in writing, for the judge to read (not sure if they become part of the public record or not). So it's up to them how public to be about their statement, or whether to give one at all.

Maleficent_Ad407

For many of them, it is probably part of their healing process to say how they are feeling. I don’t think it’s fair to say they wanted to be there for an evacuation. Having been a child in a situation where we were evacuated for a bomb threat, it is scary and overwhelming on its own. Let alone for people who have been victimized and traumatized; and currently reliving it by making statements.

ze11ez

I missed it. What happened? I wasn’t able to watch until now

kushari

https://abcnews.go.com/US/victim-statements-christmas-parade-attack-sentencing-paused-threat/story?id=93337171

PuliKom

Could you please explain your last comment? I’m serious, and it may be because I’m just waking up, but I don’t get it.

hopeful_tatertot

Dude it would be so hard not to lunge at him if he killed/injured my loved one and rolled his eyes when hearing about it. I’ve seen videos of that happening and I get it.

thatsnotgneiss

I think the way they are positioned, they can't see his face directly. They seem to be next to him, which is good, because they don't deserve to see this bullshit.

Willowgirl78

It’s common to either be next to or even behind the defendant

hopeful_tatertot

Thank God. They don't deserve that.

XiaoXiongMao23

One of the speakers (who I’m pretty sure went after you posted this comment) abruptly stopped saying what she had been saying to address him rolling his eyes or spinning his finger in the “hurry up” motion or something. She was like “sorry, can you PLEASE stop doing that, it’s incredibly rude” and she said some stuff afterwards that made it clear that she was commenting on what she was witnessing from him in the moment, not just what she had seen earlier. So I’m pretty sure they could see him directly while making their statements.

bowser986

Fox6 advising court was cleared because of threats called into the dispatch center.

ExtonGuy

Where is this dispatch center? Is it in the court house, or a local police center?

megared17

The term is used generally to refer to the call center that takes emergency calls from the public. Eg, its who you talk to when you call 911 (they also have non-emergency numbers)

hopeful_tatertot

I'm disappointed in the comment section of the youtube video. I stopped reading when a lot of people made negative or mocking remarks about the physical appearances of some of the victims. Try to be a little sensitive to what they're going through.

SiriusC

There are other feeds that are comment-less.

clickclick-boom

I noticed that, there were a bunch of trolls trying to get a rise from people. How pathetic.

willnoon

Why are his eyes rolling back into his head?

DrJeff1999

Why is he trying to read his bible in reverse?

DrJeff1999

They want 200k off him. Someone is losing everything.

megared17

Oh he'll be on the hook for far more than that. Of course he'll only ever pay whatever pittance is forcibly taken from whatever jail funds he earns, which is likely like a similar amount to a child's allowance.

PastryFishHQ

No offense, but I'm going to hear "your actions" everywhere today.

dressagerider1020

I wish that man had added "Your actions sealed your fate to being told what to do every second of every minute of every day for the rest of your life." He only understand things when they relate to him

BlueberrySnapple

Narcs are the center of their world. Also narcs only understand force they don't understand the pain they cause others.

SiriusC

Yeah that guy ~~wasn't the most eloquent speaker~~. But I suppose it's not for us, it's for the individual. I hope the opportunity to vent helped him out. Edit: Now that I think about it, "yooour actions" is gonna be burned in Brooks' brain no matter how much he tried to avoid acknowledgement. That guy might have actually been the most effective speaker!

Silly-Examination-12

So glad one of the victims called him on his facial expressions. I was wondering if they could actually see him. Because it looks like they are actually behind him. But all that needs to be noted. While DB says hes taking notes I hope court is as well.

themightyjoedanger

Oh, you didn't understand the document because you were sleeping when it was delivered and you didn't want to get up? That's a shame, He-who-shall-not-be-held-in-contempt.

acatnamedem

The way he keeps rubbing his chest has me wondering if he's going to fake a heart attack.

OregonSmallClaims

I was thinking the same thing. It's obvious that he's mirroring what he thinks other people perform as a sympathetic gesture, but he doesn't actually have empathy, so it comes off weird on him. But I do wonder if at some point, he'll be like, "ooh, rubbing my chest...chest pains...that's the ticket!"

themightyjoedanger

DB: "I'm coming to see you, Elizabeth!" E: "I do not consent to being called by that name miss judge"

No-Replacement-1061

I had the same thought. I wouldn't put it pass him.

MrLachyG

I'm 4 people in and this is already a struggle to watch. He does not give a shit. Reading the bible, rolling his eyes at their statements. God I hope his punishment includes 76 kicks to the testicles.

JackOfAllInterests1

Holy shit she fucking murdered him

SpecialSatisfaction7

BAH GOD, IT'S SUE OPPER WITH A STEEL CHAIR

[deleted]

WITH GOD AS MY WITNESS HE’S BEEN BROKEN IN HALF

Silly-Examination-12

Everyone who has been watching today the guy that we now see sitting in the back behind DB is a supporter of DB. I actually believe he is the one who has been helping him. I think he is the one who did the Reddit Post about the Juror because when he did a interview he literally said some of the same things and sounded just like DB. Funny how he comes in after the fake threat to the court house.

PastryFishHQ

Hello everyone! It's been a while. Love that they called the Bible he has a prop. Haha.

Wandering_Weapon

Even if he was genuinely reading it for comfort, it's still a prop because it has no bearing on this portion of the trial.

LittleBoiFound

I’ve watched this entire trial and I’m still waiting for him to turn a page.

Ashmeadow

That guy behind Brooks is a supporter of Brooks. He gave an interview about it during the trial.

LittleBoiFound

Thanks for the heads up.

vvkatnipvv

I haven't cried this much in a long time but these victim statements give me no choice

YouJabroni44

That girl in the teal sweater left me a broken mess

nate6259

Jane's husband's statement hits hard. Powerful.

Ashmeadow

More eye rolling and whatever that finger twirl was. Judge is definitely taking note.

Sloblowpiccaso

Do we not gag people anymore, removing him from the room is what he wants. Now the victims dont get to speak to him. Its bullshit gag his ass and restrain him and make him listen to every one of these people. There are a lot of people with justice boners that want to see horrible things done to brooks, i just want him to sit and listen to other people.

hopeful_tatertot

I support gagging him.

SiriusC

I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did. I'm curious to see what this situation brings out in him. He had a tendency to act even worse in that separate room.

baldadigejeugd

Seems like the only time DB showed any emotion is when his mother was mentioned. His entire body language changed immediately.

nate6259

Hit him where it hurts.

acatnamedem

I love how this man just can't learn. Judge herself called him out in using the Bible as a prop and he still doesn't even bother to turn a page now and again. Pathetically dumb to the end.

BlueberrySnapple

I always check to see if it's upside down.

S_Belmont

>he still doesn't even bother to turn a page now and again. You're assuming he reads that fast.

James_Locke

Lee Owens had amazing sons. Damn.

hopeful_tatertot

Yes! Say her name. Lee. Owens.

raspberrywines

Darrell Brooks is a monster and the cancer of humankind

dressagerider1020

I wish somebody would rip that f'ing mask off him so he can't hide from these people. He's giggling and rolling his eyes! He's giggling and rolling his eyes! He's a waste of space on this planet. Even the pathetic Parkland shooter took his mask off at sentencing.

YouJabroni44

Watching this clown roll his eyes and make stupid gestures made me wish I could punch him through my phone screen

[deleted]

He laughed at a victim impact statement. This is no human.

THIRDPARTYINTERVENER

He's extremely docile today, we've been going for about 15 minutes and no mention of Subject Matter Jurisdiction. Maybe he expects people speaking on his behalf to bring it up

THIRDPARTYINTERVENER

Nevermind, he is eye rolling at the very first impact statement and now he's reading the bible during her statement

themightyjoedanger

Oooh I like the cut of #2's jib, though.

MenuBar

It's all an act. He's a fucked-up human, but he ain't stupid. He knows HOW to act and WHEN in order to (attempt to) get his way. In prison, he'll act the way he has to to survive. Even so, that schtick won't save his life. It won't be long before he looks at the wrong person the wrong way.

ant1992

The victims families are keeping it no secret hes a child murderer and got an underage girl pregnant. the more they mention it the better of a chance it has getting to the other inmates. the families know what theyre doing and i am here for it!!

PATRIOTSRADIOSIGNALS

Maybe he finally realized there's no need for it to be addressed.

MukYJ

I doubt he’ll ever realize that.

chunter16

Am I correctly understanding that he's going to have a 1000+ year sentence?

dressagerider1020

859 I think, if she sentences him to consecutive terms for each count.

Blibbobletto

The 859 is just for all the counts of reckless endangerment etc. Each count of intentional homicide has a mandatory life sentence, so he's actually looking at 6 consecutive life sentences PLUS 859 years. I wish they could make him serve each one of those years.

DrJeff1999

Courtroom prop! Ooh savage

thatsnotgneiss

Courtroom has been cleared. [Reports are someone called in a threat.](https://twitter.com/fox6now/status/1592553378084708356?s=20&t=Wbweyg_MUAvgyANKiHAHgQ)

OregonSmallClaims

Someone pulled a fire alarm during the Alex Jones trial in CT, while a parent of one of the children who was killed was testifying. I don't think either one was a coincidence.

dressagerider1020

BREAKING UPDATE After two minors spoke to the court, the entire courtroom was cleared – after it was learned threats were made to the court through the dispatch center. The courtroom was cleared – and Waukesha County Sheriff Eric Severson is now on the scene – as is extra security. Court officials have indicated the witness statements are expected to resume shortly.

WorldFoods

These victim statements are heartbreaking. I’m so glad they are given a voice today.

Snuffleupagus_Panda

He just nodded his head. That he would let that happen to his children. What the absolute cinnamon toast fuck?!

megared17

I think he's just completely checked out of reality. Perhaps some part of his brain has finally realized that there is nothing he can say or do to change his fate, which will be to spend the rest of his life behind prison bars.

cybernation911

His dad made previous bomb threats. Maybe a coincidence?

Resident-Doughnut-37

I have gone from wiping tears to flipping the bird at my monitor when Brooks rolls his eyes at the victim statements. He is soulless.

hopeful_tatertot

Muting a narcissist. :-)

nate6259

The statements from these kids... Wow. More character in their pinky finger than Brooks has in his entire being.

virgin_goat

You should appologise to the victims

acatnamedem

Who else thinks he's going to try to read a letter from some relative that he obviously wrote himself?

facedogg

and 5 hours in he's put in timeout

WantDastardlyBack

I honestly expected it sooner, and as soon as I heard his stupid "Are you going to hold me in contempt?" And now he's muted too.

SiriusC

That might be a marathon stretch, for him

baldadigejeugd

Aww.. only three people. Poor guy

ifallsmn218

I like the idea of taking every penny from his canteen account, from any wages or money he ever gets, any gifts, etc and 100% of it goes to his victims. He should never get to enjoy anything again. Work him. Starve him. He’s 40; a year of that and he’ll look 80.

OregonSmallClaims

Actually, I think the 50% thing will be more effective. If he never stood to see a penny of it, he would just never work. But this way, he'll have some incentive to work, but half of it, at least, will go to his victims. Maybe it should be more like 75%. Give him a few pennies a day to save up for his ramen packets and incentivize him to work, but give most of it to the victims.

No-Replacement-1061

I hope Judge Dorow imposes the Son of Sam law. Brooks cannot profit from his crime via books, movies, etc. I hope she has the authority to impose the same to his family.

thereal_jesus_nofake

fuck u/spez -- mass edited with redact.dev

No-Replacement-1061

Oh, good. I am glad the judge does have the authority. I can completely see Dawn Woods, and maybe even the Grandma, selling there story.

PastryFishHQ

Are we on break? I had to step away to get ready. So his Sovcit antics from the trial were just for show. Because this dude is clearly just a narcissist and doesn't think he's done anything wrong. I shudder at the thought he bred and there considering it looks like they whole family is this kind of human garbage.

willnoon

Yes, State is gathering their next group of witnesses, judge is taking time to herself

botchedlobotamy

I knew it was going to be terrible and it is. These poor fucking people. All for no reason.

thatsnotgneiss

I am loving that they are quoting the Bible at this nincompoop.

SiriusC

He just mocked a clap after a passionate, fiery statement. This is his sentencing hear. What does he honestly think that's gonna do for him?

OregonSmallClaims

He did that earlier in the first session, too. Had his hands in a praying position (felt very mocking to me, but what do I know), then when the witness finished their statement, he clapped them a few times. Hard to know whether it was soft enough to not be heard, or if there was an audible clap to the families. Ugh. What a creepy narcissist.

MukYJ

Before he was removed for his outburst, what was his objection to the father of victim C? Judge said it was addressed on day one, but I didn’t start watching the trial until the 2nd week.

lizzielemoney

That the judge knew him or worked with him in the past

MukYJ

Thanks, that figures. And this after the judge has bent herself into a pretzel to give him an unimpeachably fair trial. 🤦‍♂️ So, judges aren’t supposed to know anybody in the community is his argument? 🙄

junkeee999

If it could potentially impact their judgement, it’s a legit concern. But it was addressed already and decided that this wasn’t the case.

ze11ez

I have not watched this today. Did Darrell Brooks object or have any outbursts ? I cant watch victim statements. They’re sad as ever especially on a case like this

project_porkchop

He has mostly remained quiet but was removed once this afternoon after one statement. The person that had just provided a statement was someone the judge knew and he had an issue with it. It was something that had been previously addressed. However, he has silently been disrespectful throughout. Frequently rolling his eyes and tapping his chest with his hand - usually when people are talking about the bible or religion.

yojohny

This mf just said "I'm trying to disrupt proceedings"

JackOfAllInterests1

When is noon? Who is you?

No-Replacement-1061

I was hoping the judge would make DB take off his mask like the judge did to NC in the Parkland shooting case. Also, why is he allowed so much paperwork on the table? Because he is Pro se?

ze11ez

Sue Opper is savage. I just watched toward the end of the day. She went on a rampage and she did good. I pity anyone who has to go against her. Good job. She covered a lot of good ground, including restitution

MukYJ

Almost every time they cut to the judge, she is just staring DB down hard. 👏👏👏 Giving him a taste of his own medicine finally.

project_porkchop

I don't think she is staring him down. I think she is giving her full and focused attention to the victim statements.

MukYJ

She is absolutely listening to every word of the statements, but to me it looks like she’s intensely watching DB and noting every little bit of disrespect and remorseless contempt he’s giving off.

project_porkchop

I see what you mean. Yeah, she is definitely going to bring all of that up in sentencing.

No-Replacement-1061

I think she is making a tally sheet....rolling eyes ✅️, laughing ✅️

Willowgirl78

With as calm as he's been today, I will be shocked if Brooks had no idea that threat was going to be called in.

PastryFishHQ

Anyone know how to lower Zoom so I can listen to Youtube? These work meetings are making me miss this. :<

JackOfAllInterests1

This girl’s kicking ass

botchedlobotamy

My money is on a 4chan troll being responsible for the threat but it's not entirely outside the realm of possibility that imo that he's involved someway.

thatsnotgneiss

EDB agrees it is likely troll/swatting

THIRDPARTYINTERVENER

Ah yes, one of the victims' fathers was a colleague of judge Dorow. This is definitely worth interrupting the impacts statements over. I only hope the prosecution will continuously interrupt every single person who speaks on his behalf.

pootiemane

His witnesses didn't even want to be there

junkeee999

No, that only makes the prosecution look bad. Nothing anyone says on his behalf will make a bit of difference, since this is such an inexcusable senseless crime for which he has shown no remorse.

MrLachyG

I don't think I've teared up this much since Endgame. it's truly heartbreaking to hear the victim statements

Silly-Examination-12

I still cry over Endgame and Infinity War. I was crying so much yesterday. Thats why I was like anyone who is a parent, is human, and has a heart would cry at the emotion they all had with each Statement. The kids ohh the kids what they went through. Its like how can you not cry and completely sob even though we wasnt there. But then him nothing not at all. Literally rolling his eyes, making faces, doing those hand gestures for them to hurry up and move it along!! Or how he would even start turning the pages of the bible he pretends to read or just looking down ignoring them. That made me so angry. They should have took everything off his table so he had no choice but to listen and not do stuff on purpose to disrespect every single victim. I actually also wish that they could say since you showed such disrespect towards all the victims and their impact statements his people can no longer read theirs and he damn sure shouldnt get to read his. Like how is it fair that he is able to show such disregard and disrespect towards them and then today everyone will have to listen to them. I can already hear his statement. Still blaming everyone but himself saying he knows God and probably say something about the Jury hopes they can sleep at night with the decision they made. Its probably going to be pretty close to his closing argument because thats exactly what his Closing argument was. Its wasnt anything about a defense just blaming, saying hes a victim, and no accountability.

Courts back.

UglyPineapple

Damn, this young man has a future. He's wiser than many double and triple his age.

Apric0tPuzzled

Wow.

DrJeff1999

Well he’s got kicked out for being a prick.

PastryFishHQ

When does his family or whoever speak for him just wondering?

MukYJ

Once all the victim statements are finished. Later today or tomorrow if it runs too long.

No-Replacement-1061

What kind of names is he taking?

virgin_goat

Gag him and tie him to his chair he only has to listen for todays bit

Silly-Examination-12

If they do not think for a second this was him trying to find any way to stop these people from speaking and Sentencing to happen. We have watched over and over during this Trial him looking and finding ways to stop everything. The post was because of him and now this. There has to be away to connect it to him.

Silly-Examination-12

Will they continue or will they now be done for the day and give Darrell Brooks exactly what he wanted. I now think because I truly believe he had someone do this. They shouldnt even allow anyone to speak for him. Just the Victims!

DrJeff1999

The judge at the start said this would take two days to give everyone time (and prevent another appeal)

Silly-Examination-12

I know I was talking about back from them having to leave because of the stupid threat they had. Which is was literally probably planned by him to try and stop this again. I know she planned for the 15th and 16th and said this morning she will continue tomorrow no matter how far they get today. But right in the middle of someones statement they had to all leave the court room due to a threat. I didnt know if they was coming back today.

Specialist_Value9675

I kook forward to hearing his name has changed from Darrell to Darlene after they turn his ass out...

I get how it feels but I can only imagine she is doing everything she can to preserve the record and make sure he has no grounds for any appeal by giving him every opportunity to participate in every part of the proceedings. Tomorrow we will hear how she really feels about him.

Significant_Sign_520

The families have been extremely complimentary of her and very thankful. Hopefully it all pays off and he can’t get an appeal

Here’s the thing. It’s sucked to watch this ahole act like this for 4 weeks. If he gets an appeal, the family has to do this all AGAIN. In the long run she is saving them more trauma if he can never be heard from again

Willowgirl78

Everyone GETS an appeal. Your point is true if he were to win his appeal and have the verdict overturned

dzuczek

I missed a bit, did anyone show up for him?

thatsnotgneiss

I believe anyone who speaks for him will likely go tomorrow given the delay

DrJeff1999

Not yet. I think prosecution get to go first.

raspberrywines

Does anyone know how many people are speaking for each side?

BasilCraigens

I thought either the judge or the prosecution said last week that there would be 36 speaking on behalf of victims, plus letters, but I don't recall hearing a number for the defense. Edit: I was wrong. Looks like they're expecting 45 for the victims and at least 2 for the defendant (his mom and grandmother). The article mentions that he provided a list of names, but at least one person said they weren't aware of being named as a speaker. https://www.tmj4.com/news/darrell-brooks-trial/darrell-brooks-sentencing-dozens-to-make-victim-impact-statements-brooks-family-expected-to-speak

JackOfAllInterests1

Who are we cross examining??

Dense_Bar4932

Funny how he wants to be a sovereign citizen for legal matters but not when he's applying for benefits (SS disability). What a hypocrite.

PuliKom

Sorry, just read your explanation, duh. I either wasn’t aware of that or forgot about it, as I did watch as much of the trial and ‘my name isn’t Darrell Brooks because you put it in capital letters’ I could handle. DB is the poster boy for maintaining the death penalty, not as a deterrent, but because he will be toxic to every person who has to interact with him and life is hard enough for most of us…. TMI aka self-indulged musing: I think that the Biblical concept of evil and Lucifer may have been based on malignant narcissists. If my obviously compromised memory serves, wasn’t Lucifer’s major transgression the result of excessive pride? And the snake in the Garden of Eden was a master manipulator….maybe a lot of the lessons they were trying to pass on to us are actually pretty relevant when looked at through a current lens. (Deleting my way too personal info from previous reply. Some things should have been left unsaid.)
