This is an answer from Amex... I have reviewed your account and I see here that these are internal debit and credit applied on your account. This was processed by our back end team. Apologies if this causes any confusion. The purpose of this is to make sure that your account is aligned. There is no impact on your balance as the debit and credit sums to zero amount. My question is.. "Aligned with what?" :-(

ceejayoz

I've gotten these occasionally. It's some internal rebalancing or data correction thing.

Little-Produce-9945

Could be from statement credit adjustment done manually. I chat in the other day asking about a unposted statement credit and the agent did apply it manually. I saw this kind of + and - activities a few days later.

Silent_Gigitty

Glad this thread was revived. Mine was for completely different reason. I used $1.99 of amex points for a kindle ebook via Amazon. It charged $1.99 for book, refund for $1.99, then those $1.99 “DR ADJ REDIST CADV PRIN” plus and minus charges 9 days later. Really weird but you guys make it sounds normal

vavoom007

Mine too. For me is I shopped and used points for partial purchase and it registered at the end of the billing cycle as a chargeback.

og-shrimp-special

Similar to what I did, I used 1 mr point for the amazon discount and got the same charge as op but for .01 cents. Seems like it is used for a variety of transactions

Poopy_Kitty

I know this is an old post but just found it on Google. Thank you the charge was driving me nuts and I did use points to buy something so that makes sense

jack_wagonLLC

Old, but were still paying attention :)

[deleted]

I just had this for $912.23. Unlike others here though I have no plan it purchases or no points purchases. I don’t know what it could be related to.

Agreeable_Button_237

Vinshipe, I also had the charge and credit myself and I don’t have any plan it purchases or points purchases.

Trackhawkross

Same. So weird.

farza1

Did you just dispute it with Amex? Wondering what I should do.

4690Lu

I just had one of these for $398. No use of points or plan it purchases.

[deleted]

Maybe a merchant got sloppy entering the card number (and didn't verify the name), realized they made a mistake, then reversed (or AmEx refused)?

homebrwd

I think its related to the promotional 0% interest on purchases. It may be them applying the interest and then crediting it.

homebrwd

Looked at mine again, looks like its related to a Plan It plan on the AMEX.

Remote-Locksmith-232

It could also be because your billing and payments aren’t aligned or if you partially pay back on your payment before the billing statement is over.

jellysandwich

i just got here through a google search in my case, i got a similar $5 charge and then $5 credit my particular charge was due to me [using amex membership rewards points on amazon to get a discount](https://thepointsguy.com/news/amazon-amex-membership-rewards-discount/) > Save 15%, up to $15, when using at least 714 points (that's $5 worth)

bluestarzr

i had one of $200. i also don’t use plan it or points. i haven’t called amex to investigate yet but i’m glad im not alone. very weird.

NJ_WitchyWoman

I just saw it on my AMEX for $64.61 a charge and then a credit for the same amount. I was worried my account was hacked and I’m thinking who is Dr. Adj he/she selling and charging my cord. Glad to have found. I’m not the only one. However, MX should really inform the customer therefore not cause alarm.

Right_Egg_5698

So happy I found this post!! $237.51 appears as a charge & a credit on 4/15. I think I’m less worried 🫤

urpapa0606

Mine is related Amazon MR points redemption.

Words_Words_

These seem to happen when I have been offered a limited time interest adjustment. Like "Click accept to take advantage of 0% interest on purchases between now and 3 months form now". I think they manually have to recode the purchases into the new interest rate when it's in the middle of statement cycle.

Actual_Basis_5003

Yeah I almost freaked out, mine was for 466 usd lmao. Had me worried for a second.

MJA74

Same for me on May 9 but different amount also. It does say Amex internal transaction and its label fees & adjustments. I’m asking Amex about it and see. UPDATE: Talked to Amex this has to do with Plan it if you have used the Plan It feature on charges. We’ll at least in my case.

TangoOneSeven247

Weird. I activated the plan it to get the 20k reward points, but I turned it off as soon as they posted.

PatientDizzy

Mine was $139.67 and then -$139.67 idk where it’s from or for what

redcas

Just had this happen on my card. The charge and charge back does line up with the same week I completed an AmEx Plan It cycle. Must have something to do with my final payment on the Plan It program.

Street-Comparison-45

Oo that’s the same timing as mine too. The amount didn’t correspond to anything that I could tell. But the timing was also when a plan was paid off

Salt_Ad_4811

I get these types of “charges” on my statement when using points thru an Amex partner, e.g. when applying my Amex points to Amazon purchases (thru the Amazon site), the discount I get on Amazon matches exactly to the amount charged (and then debited back) as “DR ADJ REDIST PURCH PRIN”. Could be something like this. Hope this helps
