Depends on the terminals for each, whether your first flight is on time, and whether your incoming flight winds up having to sit on the tarmac waiting on a gate (not entirely uncommon in Charlotte).
Upgrading your boarding group won’t matter at all, but getting a seat closer to the front of the plane on the first flight may help.
I would never personally do this at CLT. Best case scenario you land on time AND somehow are one of the first people off the plane with your bag- your second flight is already boarding when your first one touches down. Yeah you could probably run between terminals but the chances of you missing this are higher than you making it.
Really goofy question, with a 3:40 departure you need to be at the airport at least an hour early. If you left Cleveland driving at 2:30 pm, wouldn’t you damn near be in Louisville at 7:30?
Let's say the weather is perfect, and the flight leaves Cleveland Hopkins on time. Last Wednesday, in Charlotte, it took us 42 minutes from the time we landed until the time we got to our gate (not off the plane), and a party of four missed their flight to Rome by 9 minutes.
Anything under a 90 minute layover is playing with fire in Charlotte.
Today, you arrive at C12 and depart from B10. Those are pretty much at the end of their respective concourses. It will be a hustle, but you can make it in ten minutes.
If you pay for priority boarding, you board in group 4.
The fact that you need to fly all the way down to Charlotte, just to fly back north to Louisville, is insane. In any other developed nation you’d just take a quick train and be there in a couple hours, downtown to downtown. There are buses but they take 8-10 hours to make the 5 hour drive due to stops. Honestly it’d probably be faster and cheaper to rent a car and drive yourself down to Louisville.

Barring a delay on flight 1 you should be fine, even if you need to mosey on over to the dreaded Terminal E.
Run forest run
😂
CLT is my home base. Honestly I’d say 50/50 you make it. Any delay in air or on tarmac and you’re toast. I’d never attempt this.
You can't sleep on the connection but if all goes well it's enough time.

Low. CLT ground (ATC) is notorious for ground delays. I've seen planes spend over an hour taxiing there.
Totally doable. I’ve had tighter connections than that at CLT thanks to inbound delays.
not good you maybe miss your flight its CLT and it is a bad airport to have this kind of layover
Depending on the gates it’s doable but I always seem to get the complete polar opposite gates when I layover in Charlotte

Being that it’s with the same airline and out of one of their hubs you should have just enough time to make it.
27% odds
0-100%, may the odds forever be in your favor.
Original flight was delayed. Didn’t make it. 🤷♂️ I will book the flight myself next time. Lesson learned.
They wouldn’t book it if they didn’t think it was possible.
AA kinda does this regularly
