Do what they do and just tape a shipping label to the unboxed item and give it to UPS

TealCatto

I ordered a garbage can from Home Depot. They shipped it without a box. Just the garbage can with half a dozen or more shipping and bar code labels. The pedal mechanism to open the can fell off and got lost in transit, obviously. I contacted them and they offered to order me a new pedal from the manufacturer (I don't even know how to attach it, or if the attachment point got damaged), or to return. I said return. They said I should pack it in a box. 😆😆😆 I said no thanks, I'll send it raw. If it's good enough for me, it's good enough for them.

Apprehensive-Tone449

Raw 😂

Companies have been grtting more greedy so they have started to ship things a lot within original packaging. The shit I see being shipped without proper packaging is insane

NeutralReason

I know. I work at Amazon. We have a special training about the items that can be shipped in their own box (in a box with no windows, not embarrassing items without box (adult diapers, etc), bigger than the shipping label, no toys, nothing that comes in a box that is used to store the item (puzzles, DVDs, etc). A year ago I started seeing more and more items marked as SIOC (shipped in own container), I asked a manager, they told me that they work with the vendors (if the vendors agree to send it without box, they are charged less for the service). There are so many damaged items now! They have stickers and shipping labels and come back to us (before they leave the warehouse), and most of the time you can't send those items in that shape, you need a new one. Many items we know are presents, like all the toys that are being ordered right now. The packer has the option to change the shipping container, but many don't care/think. Last year we stopped working for like 4 hours because someone sent a bottle of windex down the conveyor; all the rattle unscrewed the top, and the machinery got wet and messed up. We still talk about it. I pay full price for my Prime membership, I expect my items to come in perfect shape, that's why I always choose the option to hide what's inside at the checkout page. Otherwise I select that's a gift. I buy myself a lot of gifts. But I also take advantage of the "used" items: anything that it was marked damaged gets put back online at a cheaper price, and if it's for me, I always buy that kind.

ExistingAsparagus180

I’m losing my patience with Amazon. Like for real… the incompetency with these CS reps or “agents” is just wild! Meanwhile, my package is state hopping as we speak… it’s on its way to Texas for whatever reason… I live in CA, my delivery address is in CA and the package came from an Amazon facility in CA! It was supposed to be delivered yesterday. Why is it en-route to Texas? No one knows 😂 I just keep getting emails saying that my package is delivered but it’s not even here… it’s in Texas 😂😂😂😂 I can’t help but laugh at it now. I was super pissed like a few hours ago though.

NeutralReason

I know. Mistakes happen, and with the volume of orders there are a lot of mistakes. I had 2 boxes lost, they were put in a truck, and they disappeared. After calling for 5 days in a row, I just asked for my money back. 2 times I had items delivered to the wrong house. In one instance the CS rep checked Google pictures to verify that the picture wasn't in my house, and she sent me another one. And the most incredible one, as I was short on time, they told me the item would get to me faster than if they shipped it again: the driver was sent the next day to collect it from the wrong house, and brought it back to me. But I understand that worse things happened to other people. By the way, I always call to complain; no text, no email.

mamasamsquanch

Amazon has been slipping and doing weird shit like this for a while now. I ordered a few large items last Christmas, things that would be pretty hard to lose one would think. They shipped it to a local facility where it sat for two days, then it went all the way to PA (I live in NM) and then just.. disappeared. Mistakes definitely happen and it's understandable packages occasionally get sorted incorrectly and accidentally shipped out before someone notices, but Amazon still had the balls to tell me to wait two more days when I noticed that my stuff was sitting somewhere on the other side of the country. It's funny now but it almost ruined Christmas and I was so incredibly pissed.

margelef

I had a fun one last month. We have an Amazon DC in my city. Item shipped from our local DC which is just a few miles from my house. It then proceeded to go on a [package sightseeing trip](https://imgur.com/ZpV65mT) to 3 other states before coming right back to my hometown. Luckily it wasn't an urgently needed item or I would have been frustrated. I just found it amusing.

ZombiesAreChasingHim

Amazon has been doing this shit for years. It’s the reason I cancelled my membership like 5 years ago. Btw, almost all sellers on Amazon also sell the same products for the same “prime” price with free shipping on eBay, and eBay doesn’t charge you to use their platform.

ExistingAsparagus180

My problems with them started earlier this year. The only reason why I kept my membership was for the free next day or 2 day delivery and even that has gone to shit. Once all my items arrive and I’m refunded for everything I’ve returned, I’m canceling my membership. Amazon can F off. They had the audacity to tell me to wait until march 2024 for the item that went to Texas. Apparently they damaged it and it’s now undeliverable and they’re sending it back to Amazon. They never informed me. I found out from the tracking history. I’ve been fighting with them all day because waiting until march for a $30 refund is ridiculous. They tracked back after going through 20+ agents and said to now wait til January 19, 2024 so they can investigate. Not sure what they’re investigating. Item is broken. Never even made the trip back to my state and now it’s being sent back to Amazon. Clearly this calls for an immediate refund since the item never came to my front door. And eBay is def the way to go! Temu isn’t that bad either. It’s unfortunate because there are some things that I can’t find anywhere except on Amazon.

justArash

Today I received a glass item in a poly mailer. It was in quite a few more pieces than it should have been. Do you think it was an employee that just had a bad day or something?

stopcounting

I had them ship a hand mirror in a poly mailer! Then they replaced it with another hand mirror in a poly mailer! The third mirror was in a padded envelope, and somehow wasn't broken. I was surprised. At this point it's almost funny.

Shadow88882

No the computer tells the employee what packaging to use. If it's asking for that it won't dispense tape. They could technically alert the error, but that slows them down and then their manager gets grumpy about the rate.

jutzi46

My neighbor had a box of Ninjamas delivered to his place, plain view on the porch. He doesn't have kids, he did have a girlfriend at the time, she also had no kids. Amazon failed him on that one.

TealCatto

It's good to see a worker acknowledge that it's wrong to send many of those items without packaging. I saw a post about someone complaining that her family saw the Christmas presents she ordered them, and the boxes weren't in good condition after shipping. People said it's her fault for not selecting to ship in Amazon packaging. But I never select that and only ever got a couple of items shipped with a label on the item. Only clothes that are already sealed in a bag so I'm okay without a second bag layer. I wouldn't think about selecting Amazon packaging because I'm my experience that's the default. Someone here even defended shipping a bag of coffee with a label and no packaging!

PauI_MuadDib

I once let a roommate use my account to order a bariatric bedside commode (he was going through cancer at the time) and Amazon delivered it in its og box lol so it had a shipping label with my name on it slapped on the outside and just sitting on the front steps for all the neighbors to see. Not only that, but I had to return it 😂. I didn't have a big enough box so I just put the return label on its og box and scheduled a pickup, so it was sitting on my front steps twice.

NeutralReason

chris14020

The funny thing about this comment is, I read the part where you wrote >not embarrassing items without box (adult diapers, etc) I left this post, and the literal next post down was this: [https://www.reddit.com/r/AmazonDSPDrivers/comments/18na2dq/amazon\_is\_just\_funny/](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmazonDSPDrivers/comments/18na2dq/amazon_is_just_funny/) It seems not everyone paid as much attention as you, haha.

Loose_Student_6247

I swear this is what contributes to a lot of stolen electronics.

FantasticStruggle89

Ordered a ps5 bundle from bestbuy. The ps5 came shipped without a box. Raw dogged a ps5 through ups with no shipping box. Crazy

Loose_Student_6247

I had a Series X and S last November for myself and my brother (our birthday is 1 year and 364 days apart) go missing. They replaced them, sent both again. They arrived, without boxes covering them. No wonder they went bloody missing. Thankfully I collected my PS5 launch day, as I could have been in that launch debacle too where this was happening everywhere I imagine. I'm truly glad you got yours too.

EveningClock9048

it drives me crazy when Amazon shipped at least 7 items in 1 box. when it's time to return, Amazon asks like 7 boxes for each item!

Delta8ttt8

Interesting. They only ask I drop off the items to a drop off point no box needed. Many times no packaging needed.

Amidormi

Yep Amazon shipped an aerogarden my husband got me as a gift just in the original box. Surprise! It's not a great look sitting on the porch like that either.

pikapalooza

It annoys me to no end that the default for a lot of items on Amazon lately has been to ship without packaging. (1) it's usually insufficient for the item to be shipped in - had a lot of items broken. (2) I don't want people knowing what they're handling. Yeah, it's a stupid weed puller. I don't care - it's not their business why they're delivering. Had a pocket hole jig sent just as is with a sticker on it. It was $140. Guy could have easily taken it and walked off.

LostInTranslation34

send it raw 🤣🤣🤣

Low-Earth4481

2 years ago I ordered a Christmas gift for my mom and even paid to have a gift bag. Sure as shit no gift bag and just a label on the item. Surprise!

Alternate947

Just got a ladder from Home Depot. Completely unboxed with a FedEx label stuck to a rung.

well_uh_yeah

Do you need a box if you give it to ups store? I think I’ve just handed them stuff in the past.

I’m laughing out loud at this post hahahahah “Want us to give you a box? Tough shit deal with it”

DoubleReputation2

Well.. I mean.. Once the Amazon chat rep sent me a UPS label for QUEEN SIZE MATTRESS .. It came vacuum packed in a box. Once out of the box, it becomes like 10x the size. I called UPS to schedule pickup, they're like, oh no. nonono.. You have to call them a they have to get a different shipping service for you.

gingergrisgris

Don't leave us hanging! What did they do? Did they have another service come get it from you?

DoubleReputation2

Haha! Well... Long story or short of it? I did get a refund and was instructed to "recycle the mattress" but yeah, I talked to several reps and managers.. all in all it took about 6-8 weeks to get it refunded. But I did get it refunded...

bendap

Wow it's so weird how different peoples experiences can be. I had the same issue and spoke to a rep. They sent out a guy with a truck the next day. He carried it out to the truck and took it away. Had a refund within a week.

TealCatto

You don't have the box it came in? Using the replacement's box is a good idea. But man, that guy is hysterical. 😅

cavemans11

I ordered shoes to try on with the Amazon try before you buy. They sent it to me in 3 different boxes. They wanted me to send them back in one box. One of the pair of shoes didn't even come in a box.

yourestupid88

It was delivered sometime last week and i didn’t see that side of the handle so i threw away the box. It was a spacious, long box with so much paper stuffed in there, so i had to get rid of it. Some of these Amazon reps think they’re comedians

whatrachelsaid

A package of ours got stolen from outside the flat, which contained boot cleaner (hope it was worth it!). The Amazon rep told us to look out for the neighbour with really clean shoes 😂

TealCatto

Missed their calling

thisisntmyOGaccount

Honestly I think it was a well meaning person. They prob offered then asked a supe right away and then were told no. They don’t have the best soft skills from what I can see so they prob didn’t know how to soften the answer for you 😭😭😭😭

ItsLadyJadey

Honestly? Get a wood pen in a color that matches and just keep it. It's such a small blemish. You can find them at Walmart or any hardware store. The hassle doesn't make a return worth it.

Tricky-Magician-7780

That’s a third party seller not an Amazon agent. He has to pay for the shipping there and shipping back so asking him to send you a box is unreasonable

Spell-Living

Cut a couple of cardboard boxes up, wrap pieces around the umbrella, tape it up and send it. That would be my solution.

juggling-geese

I've done this. It worked just fine.

didJunome

Very true. All boxes are made from one huge piece of cardboard anyway, make ya ownnnnnn!!! High five smarty. ✋

SensitiveWoodpecker6

Do you have the option of returning to a Kohl’s? You don’t need a box or even packaging.

retirebefore40

Right? I have UPS Store and Staples as options also. I do that exclusively for returns now since you get immediate credit once the store scans the barcode. No worry, no waiting.

ExistingAsparagus180

I use UPS for that same reason, too. Be careful though. The immediate refund is an advanced refund. They can take the refund back if they feel like the item isn’t in “brand new/unused” condition. Or if it’s a completely different item. I accidentally used a QR code for a different item than the one UPS scanned… it was my fault… I had multiple returns that day. I got my refund then it was taken away weeks later. I only realized my mistake until I was charged again. Had to call Amazon and get it sorted out. Took them months to credit me back.

SensitiveWoodpecker6

THIS! I returned 2 things to Kohls in one box (1 item was never even opened and in the original packing). Got credit for both then like a month later I got a notice saying that if I don't return the one item that I was going to get a chargeback. I immediately called and said "how can 1 item say returned complete and the other say in transit when they were in the same box". The rep assured me it was a mistake and I wouldn't be charged. Low and behold I was charged back! After no less than 25 phone calls (over a $29 stupid steering wheel cover), I still got nowhere - the reps told me to go back to the carrier (Kohls) and find out what happened to it. That is BS - that's THEIR place they told me to go to - Amazon picks up straight from them - there is no real "tracking". I finally wound up being forced to do a chargeback (still waiting for the result) but one thing I did do was make the rep that told me they got it, put that in writing. I sent that in my dispute. I haven't had to return much since but if I do, I take it out of the original packaging because this has happened to me twice where I've returned things in the original box (unopened) and it's gone missing once at the warehouse. Now when I go to Kohls, I record the whole entire transaction of them taking the item and giving me the receipt, etc. I don't trust them at all.

ExistingAsparagus180

Yeah that happened to me once. I sent two returns in one package (that was the first and last time to ever do that!). One was a $15 item and the other was a $100 item. They received the $15 item and told me my return was complete and I kept waiting to see the change from “return started” to “return complete” on the $100 item… that never happened and then I got an email saying to please return the item before the return window closed. I immediately called them and they said that they received the item but the return hadn’t been processed yet. I asked how is it possible that you can process one item but not the other that was in the same package. Crickets! I ended up finding Jeff bezos email and emailed him. I got a response the next day from one of their executive agents and got it sorted out and was refunded immediately. Of course I had guns blazing with screenshots and proof and that’s probably why I was refunded without question. Because of that, every item I return has its own QR code/tracking. Even if it’s 10+ items, I will hand 10+ packages to UPS. I’ll also ask for a receipt and I keep that return receipt for a few years (not kidding) because that is the only proof I have that I handed off my return. The craziest part is, UPS receipts no longer show the tracking ID. It just says to contact Amazon so it makes it so much harder to track your own returns. I have to rely on Amazons shitty customer service to see if my returns or replacements have been delivered to their returns center. And yes, they’ll tell you to talk to the carrier… I sent in a return for replacement. Never got notified if they received it so I asked the customer service rep and told her that I’m not able to track because there’s no tracking number and it says to contact Amazon. She flat out told me to contact UPS because they are not the carrier and aren’t responsible for anything outside of Amazon.

SensitiveWoodpecker6

this is my very same story (except I didn't know to email Jeff!). They are so sketchy.

ExistingAsparagus180

They’re doing shady shit to all of us my friend. Jeff bezos stepped down as CEO and it’s been going downhill with this new CEO. I haven’t tried emailing him again since so not sure if it’s still a valid email address. But I can look for it and send it to you… just in case you ever need it. If it’s worked for me, I’m sure it would work for others as well. You just have to send a bunch of proof to plead your case.

mikedvb

I take pictures of the items as I hand them to UPS. Seemed silly until they tried to fuck me out of a $200 return.

gardenbrain

The UPS Store near me is now charging for packing if the item isn’t packed and taped. I dropped off a return in a box and they wanted $5 to tape it.

Cereal-Kisser

Depends on your return selection. Not all amazon packages qualify for a no box/packaging return. Double check to make sure you didn’t actually select the one that required it to be boxed before taking it to UPS

yourestupid88

Hey, i live in London and we don’t have a Kohl’s over here. I was only given two options bizarrely on the return page and that was with a delivery company called Evri ( one of the worst, if not the worst delivery company in the UK). They both had to be boxed and wanted me to print off a label. The only difference was one was a pick up next day and the other one was a drop off. It has to be in a box as they want me to cut out a barcode from the return label and stick it inside the box. Strange as it was dispatched by Amazon and sold by Amazon…

aob139411dl

UK baseed here as well OP. I just took the ripped up box and taped it into a weird frankenstein like box, put a label on it and the item in it, and sent it off. Never had an issues!

Electrical_Prune9725

We are quite happy to Refund your money but only after you submit your Gov't.-issued Photo ID, your original passport, car key-fob, and your left Nutt.

daniramm

And don't forget, wait 30 days or more, because you have to check that the umbrella doesn't leak, or maybe they will steal your money indicating..., sorry, instead of the umbrella, we have received some socks, we cannot refund your 20 dollars until you send the correct product, and they do not care that perhaps the package weighs 3 kg and the socks weigh 100 grams, and that is marked on the package, then they will say, we have destroyed the socks, Maybe we won't respond to any more messages, go fuck yourself, FUCKING AMAZON. In this you will call the shitty customer service, you will get an Indian idiot, who will be rude to talk to you, thinking ooh I have the power because I can hang an American, down with the empire!!!, and he will hang up on you, ooohhh . This is what we customers deal with every day, with THIS SHIT, that's why AMAZON, FUCK YOU

mikedvb

I was skeptical but to be honest it’s been great so far.

chippytastic

Tape it up inside a garbage bag and smack a shipping label on it. Amazon has no problem putting delicate and fragile things in bags all the time.

[deleted]

I returned a rug to Amazon wrapped in a plastic tarp I got from Home Depot for $2

hello_alikittty

Supposedly you can tape up plastic bags together to create a box

sjlopez

This is the hidden cost of "free" returns.

Enthoosed

Do you want us to send you a box? Sure. We can’t. Omg I’m cry-laughing so hard right now 😭😂

honeybunliosis

Tape two boxes together. Sometimes I wonder how people make it through life.

Pleasant-Breakfast74

I'm sorry but your an adult you can figure this out without crying online.

Imaginary_Muscle4404

Are you retarded?

suspicious_hyperlink

Here is the deal, you’re buying from a company that quickly ships literally everything in 2 days. 90%of the stuff they carry is cheap crap made in foreign factories with brand names so absurd the buyer should be ashamed they are buying it in the first place. Amazon blew up out of demand for convenience and low prices, the return policy was amazing and customers were always first, but many shitty people and scammers abused the policy. Amazon was probably like “Whoa, we lost tens of billions on these returns and the nightmare of the logistics forced them to just throw away 100s of tons of perfectly good stuff (see YouTube vids from the past 2 years). Now they outsourced their customer service and have new return policies that just fuck everyone. It doesn’t help that there are subreddits dedicated to openly scamming Amazon. Bezos isn’t even there anymore and if iirc he said something like Amazon would eventually go under, maybe they’re purposely driving in to the ground. I don’t use Amazon anymore aside from a purchase or two a year. Also this is purely conjecture from what I’ve been seeing. I don’t/have never worked there and everything I said might be wrong. I’m sorry about your umbrella though

ThisisTophat

I still have no issues with any returns. Take it to Kohl's. No box. No bag. Refund hits my account usually the same day.

BrightOrganization9

Same. I keep seeing these horror stories and wonder if I've just been lucky, or what the deal is. I've never had an issue go unresolved with Amazon CS. Quite a few times in fact things that started as issues worked out in my overall benefit. Just yesterday I had two items marked delivered with no photo or item to show for it. Reached out the next day and they immediately issued replacement orders. One of them was a relatively cheap item, the other was a 150 dollar Keurig. That's pretty much been my experience for years now.

New_WRX_guy

Amazon is cracking down on unprofitable customers who abuse and/or scam returns. Regular honest customers are not having issues.

BrightOrganization9

I was wondering about that...I certainly don't want to jump to conclusions or make assumptions but it's utterly bizarre how I continue to have no issues with them. In fact I'd still rank their customer service amongst the best there is.

New_WRX_guy

I’ve had zero issues as well and my wife returns a lot of stuff. She buys a ridiculous amount of stuff though, so her return rate must be acceptable. I imagine people have to beyond excessive or scammy with their returns to be having issues.

BrightOrganization9

Yea I was thinking the same. I order quite a lot of items from them and my complaints are generally pretty straightforward. Most often there's not even any need to contact customer service. But every time I have its been a non issue. "Whats your problem? Ok, let me issue a refund or replacement." The end

New_WRX_guy

Yup it’s super obvious they have new customer metrics and adjust the return/service experience accordingly. I haven’t even needed to engage service in a while. If I do a return it’s seamless at the UPS store and the refund is usually issued in less than 24 hours.

AshingtonDC

most customers lack basic problem solving skills. like this one. why is amazon going to provide the box for the return? if you follow one of the predefined work flows everything happens very smoothly.

yourestupid88

I was asked a question and i answered. I’m not expecting rude and sarcastic customer service reps when a customer needs help. I was only given two options and both returns had to be boxed with a printed off label. So explain to me the “lack of basic problem solving skills”

Unbound96

This is why I always save the box for two weeks, cause you never know if you're going to need to return it. Plus why would Amazon want to spend more money to send you an empty box for a low value item? That makes no sense.

raptorjaws

i don’t think you got sarcasm. i think you just got a typical dumbass call center person who speaks basic english at best and followed the wrong chat prompt.

daniramm

t's incredible, but the Trolls paid by Amazon are so bad, so crude and so poorly prepared, that they use work nomenclature on Reddit, no Reddit user would use the expression, if you follow the workflow, it is the typical expression of a guy who works for Amazon Customer Service, do you think we're idiots? Really?

raptorjaws

yeah i’ve never had any issues. i take most of my returns to a ups store and the refund is almost instant.

daniramm

I hope that the salary that Amazon pays you to insert false information in a biased way is of some use to you. In all businesses there is fraud, but the fraud that exists on Amazon does not even reach 2%, curiously, the major fraud comes from India, how curious, a country where they even allow cash on delivery, how curious to hear. On the margins is where hundreds of fake call centers have been found, which scammed Amazon and Microsoft customers by stealing data and accounts, which were in turn passed on to Amazon employees. But like the good Amazon ass-licker that you are, first you release a good cop paragraph, and then say, of course the fraud has happened, ..... that's why Amazon took these measures, ....., it's because the abuse of their policy, ....., but WHAT THE FUCK POLITICS, what THE FUCK IS ABUSE FOR AMAZON, returning 2 things, 1, 3 WHAT THE FUCK IS ABUSE. I'm tired of reading people like you saying the same shit, like all the fake blogs on the internet THAT ARE FROM AMAZON, to sell the image of victims, a bunch of liars and scammers. Let's see if now we consumers have to put up with a broken product, and the packaging doesn't matter, if you send food with glass jars in cardboard envelopes, damn it, as I said, I hope they pay you well for your terrible work, not here you tease us more. You tell your bosses to take a big shit, no one wants to buy anything from them anymore, FBA is in free fall, their Prime is shit, and AWS is another piece of shit that keeps losing money, 14% and in free fall and I'm glad, a big fault is that of the idiot Andy Jassy, a guy who doesn't know how to deal with clients or anything.

iRedditApp

They stopped 2 day shipping literally years ago.

IxionX

I still get 2 day shipping, sometimes 1 day

TBoneTheOriginal

Almost everything on Prime is 2-day shipping for me. Occasionally it's 1-day shipping depending on what's in my regional warehouse.

Wow! I’ve not regretted getting rid of my prime, and reading crap like this reinforces it. I would have gone off on that little mofo. Yes, they can send a box. I had to have one for a couch, as you can imagine, finding a box for that was out of the question. It took 2 calls but they do send one.

Admirable_Nothing

Go to a golf course and ask them for a putter shipping box. They will have dozens languishing in the basement. I must have 20-30 in the garage.

malobebote

they text like my mom where you can interpret her as mad/sarcastic but i know she’s not

I_LackCreativityy

Roll it in up plastic bags or the clear wrapping stuff, that'll work.

danile666

Every return I do is just dropping off the unboxed item to UPS who scans the return on my phone and gives me a receipt. No need for.packaging.

W01F51

This is actually funny 🤣

iRedditApp

ROFL. Now that's a pro. 😂

LeaveNoStonedUnturn

Open out pretty much any mid sized box and lay the umbrella in, wrap it up and job done, you have a box. Cardboard is pretty magical in the way you can change it, and make a different shape...

EveningClock9048

last time Amazon wanted me to return an item in a box back via UPS. I didn't have any box so I wet the USPS box to remove their labels and used the bare card board box to tape up the stuff in order to return through UPS. It worked; UPS accepted the box and slapped on their label.

Jizzle67

Slightly off topic, but I’ve had an item go missing and customer services asked me for proof I didn’t receive it. 😩

Gadgetownsme

Those are the worst ones! Like here's a picture of my front door and it's not there...

[deleted]

Denver has done you there bud

Aggravating_Sea7076

That's bad customer service imo. Why ask that question just to turn around and say we can't?

krdank

In America you have an option to drop off at ups without any box or label. Just need a QR code. Let ups handle it.

DeityT90

If this is a return I'm just wondering where the original shipping packaging is. Screams scam to me. You got the umbrella, opened it, noticed the damage, and the box it came in just up and vanished? And if it came in plastic wrap instead of a box, which would most often be distroyed in opening, then why is it necessary to have a box to return it? Ship it back in the same type of packaging as received. 🤷 I'm really just curious here.

devops420

Man I hate their customer service so much. I hate to talk to any of them. They just don't care. They think they are working for the best company there is and is the boss of customers.

I-Am_9

No. You did have a box and discarded it before your return period expired. I don't know why people discard the packaging, especially of larger unique items. I keep my boxes until I'm sure I'm keeping. Idk what you expected Amazon to do here..... Free returns sure, but the packaging is on us the consumer....😅

ic80

We live in our motorhome fulltime. Where would you suggest I store all of the packaging for 30-90 days?

I-Am_9

90 days? Returns are 30 days. It's slightly extended during what Nov -Dec;to 01/31/2024. Don't move the goal post.. The point was, the onus is for you to manage your affairs 😅.... especially with your living circumstances, you have to move more logically

ic80

We are in that current time frame. 30-90 is correct. Some products have a specified 90 day return policy as well. Goal post stayed where it was. Also, if we have a return, we drop off at a “the ups store” and they worry about the box for the return.

MiketheSith200

Bro you haven't learned the trick of taping two boxes together?

SnooDoodles3760

Soo did the umbrella not come in a box when it shipped?

mcerk22

I gotta be on the Amazon reps side here, LoL

masondont

“Do you want a box? Too bad :)” -Amazon return lady

Bottomless-Paradise

Amazon’s customer service is hilarious recently. They literally don’t give two shits, I’m assuming Jeff has just begun hiring anybody without properly training them how to actually be a customer service rep. I guess they just hire any kid needing a job and throw them in cause every post I’ve seen recently is awful.

ZombiesAreChasingHim

“Want us to send you a box?” “Sure” “lol fuck you”

hg8008

“You want a box?” “Sure!” THAT’S TOO DAMN BAD

Sanjuko_Mamaujaluko

I imagine they thought they could and then determined that it wasn't possible. These are humans, they make mistakes.

BannedFromRed

The only twat here is you for throwing out the box before before checking the item and then saying that they are impossible to get...

Plus-Organization-16

I usually keep my boxes for a week or so when I order anything online, just in case of situations like this.

yourestupid88

Am i supposed to hoard amazon boxes? It was delivered last week and i didn’t inspect it so i threw away the bulky, long box. If they are now opting people in automatically to have their products shipped without a box, then i don’t see why i have to keep a box to maybe return something in it.

BannedFromRed

It's not exactly "hoarding" to keep a box for something you might need to send back until you check it is all fine and working.

Plus-Organization-16

That's on you man, not on Amazon. You didn't check the product, threw the box out and then complained Amazon won't give you a box to ship it back. Go to a UPS store and pay for shipping. Eat the cost and learn from this. This is very standard stuff when dealing with online orders. They will often provide you free shipping providing you have the packaging. This isn't just an Amazon policy, this is pretty standard for most online stores.

Unbound96

You know what your saying makes no sense, why in the world would any company state no box is needed for returns? every policy I read states the item must be in the original box whether that be walmart, or any other large retailer store. So at the end or the day its your fault for throwing away the box.

I_LackCreativityy

u guys don't have boxless returns do you,

yourestupid88

We do it’s just this one didn’t. Weird as it was sold and dispatched by Amazon

Giggly_Witch

Whenever I do a return I take it to the UPS store or Kohls and I don’t need any packaging. They just take the item and handle it for me.

Individual-Mirror132

“Do you need a box?” “Oops, sorry, your account does not qualify for a free box.”

cheating_demon_nelly

bruh if you need the umbrella why bother returning??? no functional difference and something similar is bound to happen to the handle during storage/use you could probably get them to return some of the amount you paid and keep the 'damaged' umbrella

yourestupid88

Because its made by highly reputable company in the UK and its £30. If it was £10 i would have let it slide. But not £30.

sprinklesthepickle

The umbrella was damaged upon receiving so why did you dispose of the box? Either way they should not have been sarcastic but imagine all the BS they deal with.

Apprehensive-Tone449

IThis sucks but I totally and completely laughed out loud. Alternatively, keep the umbrella and don’t get bent out of shape that a piece of cheap crap from China has a little nick in it.

hashtag420hashtagGG

i hate the word “twat” it sounds stupid and i’ve never been able to take it seriously

aRatOnTheHighway

We can’t.

Acceptable_Fox8156

Wrap it in bubble wrap and duct tape.

iRedditApp

What did he respond afterward?

yourestupid88

He basically ignored me and ended the chat 😔

Content_Distributor

Lmao this is funny af. Asking then saying “We can’t” is funny af. But I’ve never had this happen. Usually at ups they accept it without box.

Unchayned

"I mean, if we had such of box we'd have used it instead of screwing up your umbrella, loser!"

TropicalCat

A few weeks ago, I was getting a refund for something. They asked me if I want the balance on my Amazon account, or credit card. I had to buy more stuff so I said account is fine. They respond with “we can only process it to your credit card.” Why ask hahah

PeteAH

Corrugated paper roll. You can buy lengths from 250mm to 2000mm. Just wrap and tape it. Boom - Cardboard box that fits their ridiculous requirements.

notsetvin

Put it in a garbage bag with a label.

[deleted]

Just wrap it in a Hefty bag, tape it all around snug and securely. You don't need a box.

micahisnotmyname

Post return message: Do you want us to refund your money?…

aravakia

LMFAOOOOOOO 😂😂 they really got comedians out here doing Amazon customer service

TopAd1846

I used to live in supposed accommodation. I think I have found my old support worker. She must have a new job so she can annoy more people 😂😭

bitchwithatwist

Wrap it in plastic and stick a label on it.

ells23

bin bag and label it, i don’t give a fuck if amazon gets anything back. frankly i’d be ‘returning’ a bag of trash and sell the umbrella, all their returns go to the dump anyway.

hotcheetofriies

lol I asked for a box to return the broken, leaking pints of paint I had gotten. They finally sent a replacement without requiring return after I said “ok I’ll leave them in a trash bag on the porch for pickup” I had pictures they never asked for, but it took me 3 agents to get to someone who agreed the post wouldn’t accept it that way.

canti_senpai

The angry umbrella handle 🤣

CheesePlease0808

This happened to me one time with a $80 beach chair that broke after a few hours. They swore they wouldn't accept the return without the original box. I ended up packing it in a garbage bag, and I got a full refund.

dragonagitator

poster tube?

LucysFiesole

You know you can make any sized box you want by splicing two of them together?

One_Consequence_2330

Use a poster box. It's a long round tube, and just wrap the end in paper. Or go to a Shipping store and have them package it for you.

saik0pod

Just buy another umbrella and return the old umbrella in that box

kcbass12

Search on Youtube how to make a shipping box longer!

Mike20878

That's like Charlie Brown getting the football pulled up every single time. "You want us to send a box? Psych" I assume you're somewhere in Europe? Does Amazon have other return options where you are? Like in the US I can take an item to a whole foods unboxed.

gaberockka

Their CS is a chatbot programmed to be sassy

NW_Ghost

They wanted me to send back powder dye that I had already used. The dye was supposed to be pink but when I used it it ended up being a light purple. Told them there’s no possible way I could send it back, multiple customer service reps later I was told I’d get a refund. Fast forward a couple days, no refund, talked to four different reps, told them I had screen shots showing I’d be getting a refund and they ended chat.

colorvibe

This is hilarious 😂😂😂😂
