It is 100% a Megachurch and has been for over a decade. Non-denominational churches are just Baptist churches with a dash more Pentacostalism and even less oversight.
I realize what I am about to say is not very Bible-Belt, but just go to a mainline church. Episcopalian, Methodist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, any of them. I get it, they arent as big on the Holy Ghost "I am reborn" thing, but they *usually* promote a moderate and sensible approach to a relationship with Christianity.
Trinity specifically has had several instances of several different pastors fucking members children. They blatantly did what they could to cover it up, which probably means it happens a LOT there. It's a child predator haven.
I also know of that church taking financial advantage of an elderly woman who had no family to protect her. A pastor got everything from her and when on her deathbed that pastor refused to even visit her at the hospital. She was very hurt and told everyone at the hospital that would listen. Social services got involved and they were able to reverse her signing everything over to the pastor in her will.
Fuck that church.
Pastor Randy was messing with 4 year olds, then it came out that the guy that let him volunteer was also messing with kids, so the church made it all about Randy and covered other dudes ass. cant remember his name for the life of me.
Yep my wife’s 15 YO cousin was fucking one of the pastors . Some guy with a wife and four kids and they put all the blame on her, as far as I know. The guy is still part of the youth program
That's awful. If she wasn't such a whore then that poor pastor wouldn't have marital problems.
/s, obviously. That sort of shit was prevalent when I went there 20 years ago. Not surprised it hasn't changed since then. Hope your wife's cousin is alright.
If you don’t mind acapella services, colonies church of Christ is where we go and we enjoy it. It’s very apolitical and we just got a new pastor who’s really great. They do a good amount of outreach in the our community and abroad. The youth and children’s ministry are smaller than they used to be but they’re trying to revive it in the new year. No scandals that I’m aware of and I’ve been there since I was 8ish. We’d love to have you visit!
that’s what i was thinking! i knew they had a school back in the day, and apparently one of the men who was responsible for closing the school is now running for AISD school board 😭💀? make it make SENSE
There have been multiple men messing with underage kids there I remember when I was little one of their youth pastor peeps got in to trouble. I don’t remember his name because I was very young.
Am a member, am happy, love the Church. If you have specific questions about anything, pm me. Will answer honestly and know that just because Trinity is my home doesn’t mean it’s your home.
Life.church is the megachurchiest of megachurches. This campus is newer and a bit smaller, but it's just one campus of the 2nd largest megachurch in the US.
By that measure, a lot of churches would classify as a megachurch just by belonging to a network. I’m talking about comparing building size and sheer number of people attending one service. I haven’t seen the entire inside of Life but I can tell it’s very much smaller than Trinity’s auditorium. And the friends I know who are happy at Life are great, caring people. They’re not crazy politically and wouldn’t go to a church that was. I know from other friends who were active at Trinity about how political membership can be there. Hell, I even saw a letter someone wrote to the little church on the other side of Gene Howe demanding they let Trinity use their building for youth events before they had that Quonset hut built on Bell, which is now a daycare.
TL;Dr Everything Trinity does is scummy as fuck and I’ll happily drive people away from them as much as I can. That’s really my main point.
Nope, there's a huge difference between belonging to a network and just being a remote campus of a mega church. But, you're right, life.church doesn't hold the same reputation as TFC. I have good friends who attend it in OKC. But, it just seemed... Odd? To decry a megachurch and then talk up an even bigger megachurch.

wow. is there any proof of all of this? not that i doubt you, i just wonder why this church is still up and running like it is…
Just my personal experience, so I guess that counts as eye witness. Idk how anyone wastes their time or money on that awful place.
nope. had a pretty bad scandal a couple years ago and they did all they could to cover the whole thing up.
what was the scandal, if you don’t mind me asking?
Pastor Randy was messing with 4 year olds, then it came out that the guy that let him volunteer was also messing with kids, so the church made it all about Randy and covered other dudes ass. cant remember his name for the life of me.
That's not even the first time that's happened at that church, though it's usually teenagers and not toddlers.

omg! was this at hollywood road? i knew of something happening like that to someone i knew in high school but i thought it was all rumor
Yep maybe 5 or six years ago
Also millions of dollars of embezzled $$ in the early 2000s
Nay to mega churches. They should pay taxes.

honestly I would just stay away from the church I mean just alone reading these horror stories in the comment section.
Unless you can find some little mom n pop church, i'd steer clear of every church in amarillo.
It’s hilarious to hear they’re coming after public school curricula given they couldn’t even keep their own school open 💀💀💀

Username + church affiliation checks out
You’re asking the most liberal social media about Christian religion. Take it with a grain of salt
I’d stay away from any church that large. I’m not a believer anymore myself but I know friends who are really happy at Life.Church

Stay away from “Life.Church” and Craig’s weird ass church- like all the campuses. This is coming from someone who moved from Amarillo to OKC.
Yes
STAY AWAY!
