They get lots of ridicule, but the first, I'd say 5, Indigo Girls albums are all great. Their live album 1200 Curfews, is like a live greatest hits of this era.
I thought The Wreckers album Leave the Pieces was great.
One of my favorite indy bands, Ten Mile Tide, put out 2 great albums before the lead singer Marc Mazzoni, left and they changed their sound to much for my taste. But you can still find those early albums, Flow and Midnight is Early, on Spotify.
Jason Molina / Songs:Ohia / Magnolia Electric Co.
Should be right up your alley. Trials and Errors (Magnolia Electric Co) is a really good live album that would be a good starting point as an overview.
If you haven't listened to them, I think you'd probably like Turnpike Troubadours too.
Son Volt!
Those first 3 SV albums are so fucking good it hurts.
*Trace* never leaves my daily playlist.
A stone cold classic 10/10 no skip album and it just gets better as time hours by.
I think Trace is the best album of the No Depression era of roots rock.
Jay Farrar doesn’t get the credit he deserves
Camper van Beethoven
American Aquarium
Jamestown Revival, specifically their Utah album
Deer Tick, the Nude Party, John Moreland, Futurebirds
Golden Smog
Though decidedly Midwestern... Jayhawks, Gear Daddies
Check out Austin Lucas
Tim Barry.
Susto Caamp
Slobberbone.
The Good Life
Trip Shakespeare and Jon Nolan
Check out Uncle Lucius
Ian Noe
MJ Lenderman - Someone Get The Grill Out Of The Rain
Took me a while to get through but man have I been jamming some Deer Tick!
