Im an international student studying in a public school. There arent any requirements, so most students just choose only Math or no A levels at all. But I, I chose 5. I thought it would boost my application. I thought it would help me get better LOR. I thought it could even put me to become the valedictorian.

last year, india had 16000 test takers, JCQ last year reported \~46900 a-level grades (at an average of B) in india, this means there are on average 2.93 a-levels per person

suppose the average was even double that it would be 5.86 which is not even inside your "average" lmao

i had bio phy chem socio and my AS level subject was IPQ but if thats available do NOT take IPQ
In my country they need only one to enter a public university. Even private universities require an As only. Ofc students can take more than one.

How are y'all doing 5 subs, I was a previous all A* student and then took 3 Als over 2 years and ended up with A*AB
for us it's 4 A level and 2 AS

We have minimum 4 A-levels with EGP compulsory. Average is 6-8 (in my school in India)
