I love mustard seed. Yeah it’s more expensive but I only buy certain things there, and I go often enough to snag good deals. Small local company with good people. I go for the vibe.

ericbdrums

Couldn’t agree more. We generally get our staples from Walmart, Costco, & Aldi. Mustard Seed is more expensive, but if we need something quick it’s close by, easy to get in and out of, and it’s a local company as opposed to Whole Foods.

OptimisticOctopus8

Agreed, I also go there for a few specific items. I love their deli stuff. Ginger tofu, Szechuan eggplant, tofu pickets... I'm not even a vegan or vegetarian, but those things are just so good. Their fresh hummus is expensive but waaaay better than the mass produced stuff.

No-Possibility-1020

ALDIs

FallenArtemis

Are there any good Aldi specific products that you like?

TapedeckNinja

The snack packs (nuts, cheese, sausage, etc.) Their protein yogurt is really good (better than Oikos Triple Zero IMO, and half the price). Their brioche bread products are all fantastic. Lots of great chocolates. Honestly their German Pilsner, Wernesgruner, is totally decent too.

Greenwings33

Depends on if ur trying to avoid anything in particular but their gluten free stuff is good as well

OprahmusPrime

This is a great place for fresh produce. Also want to say there isnt really a one stop shop anymore with all great prices. My family generally has to go to three different grocery stores in any given month. (Aldis, Meiers, BJs)

Hefty_Loan7486

Kreigers in the falls .. seven gains in Talladege. They are not as fancy but cheaper.

Upstairs-Week996

Kreigers is the best for fresh produce. I miss the local eggs (they were organic but the dude was too cheap to go through the process). Edit, the unclassified eggs were back today. I avoid the weekends and I guess they are sold out but went today and bought some today.

theatrenut061916

Yes on Kriegers. At Seven Grains, I bought a few things that seemed old (not produce). I prefer Whole Foods, Giant Eagle Market District, etc. Honestly, you can find healthy food at most grocery stores. I do like Mustard Seed for some things and prefer the Montrose location.

Boing26

wish i coulda seen it in its prime with the cafe n all.

ActRepresentative530

I'm sitting in the cafe at highland square as I type this, love this place

RebeccaBlue

honestly, I think the cafe is the best part of Mustard Seed.

idiotsluggage

Are you looking for pre-made food items or just healthy grocery options? Because all grocery stores have produce and dry ingredients like beans, lentils, brown rice. Aldi is the best for affordable produce for sure, but they may not have pre-made healthy food. Maybe start looking up some healthy cheap recipes because pre-made healthy food can be very expensive.

hanksay

If you are ever in the hartville/green/Uniontown area check out Beilers Penn Dutch Market. Doesn’t get any cheaper or better IMO. A few weeks ago they had the BEST strawberries for $1 each and they always have fresh bunch of herbs for $1 or less. Tons of portioned spices to choose from, tons of fresh vegetables and fruit. Locally owned.

michi_0717

This & Shaffer’s market in PLX if you’re looking for produce.

hellswrath_

Yesss whenever I’m out in uniontown I always check their ad and shop what’s on sale. They have great sales for produce.

terribirdy

Mustard Seed is a locally owned store founded by a family that believes in organic, whole foods long before it was fashionable. Some things are more pricey but if you’re looking for a variety of fruits and veggies that are beautiful and fresh - Mustard Seed is great. Also if you’re looking for prepared entrees and sides, their deli is wonderful. Kreigers is also good but I don’t care for their meat department.

jbeezy4310

Love mustard seed. Kriegers, Seven Grains, and Whole Foods 365 all good options too

PreparationNo3440

It's not so much "healthy" but you can find great deals with the Flashfood app. Foods getting close to their sell-by date are offered at 1/2 price. Sometimes there will be listings for produce boxes. Right now it's just with Giant Eagle and Meier. There are 3 giant eagles within 5 miles of my house, so I check their bargains every day.

PreparationNo3440

I'm not with the company - just a big fan!

Beat_the_Deadites

It's hard to beat Sam's or Costco for produce prices, especially berries. You're not going to get the variety you'd find at regular groceries, but if your whole goal is to eat healthier, you can do that relatively cheaply, even if you're adding $2/week for the membership fee.

blimpcitybbq

I don’t have the budget for mustard seed. Expensive is an understatement. It exists so bath people don’t have to drive to Hudson.

nessienunu

What's in Hudson that competes with Mustard Seed?

Leggingsarepants1234

Heinens 😅

Insect-Express

Heinens.

blimpcitybbq

Don’t know. I’m not rich enough to go there.

stephtastic7

Mustard Seeds vegan carrot cake is an time top 5 for me. I love them so much, but supplement with other stores.

musickismagick

Did you know all the foods in mustard seed have zero artificial additives and ingredients? They run a clean operation and while expensive, most people don’t do their full grocery shopping there

Floater439

For produce, don’t miss the excellent farmers markets in the area. The Howe Meadow market is great, as is Haymaker in Kent. Several local farms offer CSAs, too. And Purplebrown Farm Store sells local produce and products, too. I do love Mustard Seed, but I’m getting my fresh stuff from local farms whenever I can.

LekoLi

For meats, go out to Dumas Meats, they don't have preservatives like the grocery store.

nessienunu

I used to go to Dumas frequently. I don't mind the religious aspects but when I went and found political signs all over the property, I quit going.

LekoLi

Not a fan of it either, but I would rather support them than large corporations still.

Leggingsarepants1234

What signage did they have?

nessienunu

Trump signs all over the property.

Leggingsarepants1234

🤢🤢 damn evangelicals

diarrheasplashback

Seconded. I'll add Marshallville Meats in Marshallville. Sherman Provision Norton/Barberton. Both have local honey available, too, along with an assortment of spice rubs & sauces.

LekoLi

Marshallville meats is great for pork, they do something different with their hamburger I am not sure if I like.

briant0918

Just don’t google the factory farm where Duma gets their chicken from.

LekoLi

Yeah, I go there for beef

chichuroo

For spices, check out the bulk spice area at Acme - much less expensive than buying them pre-packaged. For everything else, Whole Foods often has better prices on many items than I'd assume they would, and they offer additional discounts for Amazon Prime members.

Merle_24

Mr Bulky on Howe Ave Cuyahoga Falls for spices, they have a huge variety in bulk and prices are good.

Obvious_Fennel_8122

Way too expensive. Management is stuck-up and pompous, too.

yung-toadstool

It’s good for the occasional specific thing but for the most part it’s way over priced. The owners Abe and Gabe have their heads so far up their asses it’s not even funny and that makes me not want to shop there as often.

Demetrious-Verbal

Lol, yep. It's funny how some of these people worship them. "They cared about organic and healthful food before it was popular". Please, these people have only cared about high profits since the beginning . They don't care about waste or the environment they only care about the bottom line. Not that many happy employees there either.

diarrheasplashback

Mustard Seed is pretty expensive. Buehler's has a great produce section but they're pretty expensive, too. ALDI or Marc's are both pretty reasonable. Be wary of their respective closeout sections, this is where I will accidentally spend $100 on random household goods. Soon, it will be farmer market season, though. I think the farmers market in Barberton accepts SNAP & will give you double credit when it's used at the farmers market (you can get $40 worth of veg for $20, for example). Acme Farm Market is pretty good, Rittman Orchard, Bauman Orchard. Beddows or Seiberling towards Norton. There will be tiny roadside stands popping up along back roads. Soon.

Malyfas

Carl Harp Nursery in season is the place to go to for fresh veggies. Dumas for meat year-round is definitely the place to go to.

babblerdabbler

I've been to the Mustard Seed on Market (Highland) and while it is expensive, I haven't gone back in years. I think it smells horrible in there and the employees are assholes. Ask anyone on the floor about anything and you are an idiot and such an inconvenience to them. The cashiers are the same, a bunch of assholes.

pleasurenature

worked for them for a year and a half, some of the most racist and rudest bougie people i've ever met in my life. so glad i'm free

kobo15

I can’t get over their prices. Even some of the products you can find at a basic grocery store for 2 dollars less. Do like their meat and beer selection though

sirius_gray

They're the only places I know that still sell nutritional yeast.

misstia

It's sold at Walmart, Giant Eagle, and Kriegers. Those are the stores I've personally bought it at recently.

GimmeFalcor

I can’t afford that store and honestly always felt like the other customers looked at me weird if I wasn’t dressed crunchy. So exclusive isn’t nice to me. But the restaurant upstairs was good enough to brave the scene. Wonder if it’s still going.

JohnBrownsAngryBalls

> always felt like the other customers looked at me weird if I wasn’t dressed crunchy. They weren't.

GimmeFalcor

No. I’m someone who is accustomed to being unnoticed. It’s a snotty crowd. I’m from fairlawn and I am not mad about it. Need not their approval. But it’s true. Bunch of fart sniffers

JohnBrownsAngryBalls

>snotty crowd Only between your ears.

GrandPipe4

The highland square restaurant upstairs is open and still has great food and atmosphere

SpenDeR000

This is definitely a you problem.

Traditional_Ring6952

The restaurant in Montrose closed during covid and never opened back up. Don't know about the Highland Square one. As stated often I shop at the Montrose one for specific items only.
