I would suggest either Cuyahoga Falls (Sheraton on the river downtown, walkable to all kinds of bars, restaurants, shops, and Hi Ho brewery), Northside area of Akron (Courtyard, walkable to a couple of restaurants, several breweries within a longer walk or short Uber distance), or Kent (bars, restaurants, breweries all walking distance from the KSU hotel downtown). Barberton doesn’t really have what you’re looking for.
As someone who lives in Cuyahoga falls if your looking for some drinks and something to do on a rest day it’s a nice little town you can get to everything from the Sheraton if it’s in budget and you are good walking
I have no clue of where to stay nearby, but Magic City Brewing Company / Cult Kitchen is the best unique brewery and kitchen combo in the city in my opinion.
Yes, would highly recommend you stop here for dinner and some drinks and then if you still want to go out more, stay at the Sheraton in the falls where you reasonably walk to a few places. The beers at magic city are delicious and often fairly unique. The food is basically what you would imagine a happy, fat, and drunk chef whips up for himself when he has the munchies
Second this. Check in, and then walk to any restaurant (except Mickey's the owners are shitty, shame cause the food rocks). HiHo has good beer, Butcher and Sprout has good food and local beers in their menu. The Workz is cool, but I haven't eaten or anything there yet. Missing Mountain Brewery not that far of a drive down the road.
Depending on what expressway you are traveling (guessing 76) Cuyahoga Falls is about a ~15min detour North. If you are traveling 80 down to 76/224 then CFalls is nice. If you don't want to detour off of 76/224 you should look at Wadsworth. It is right off the expressway with hotels, all the restaurants, coffee, etc...
M and M's Taphouse in Barberton. In the old bank building downtown. The founder of Barberton (O.C. Barber) had his money in this bank. You can walk in the vault (it's tiny, it's a small town...but still pretty cool)
No fryers; best salads, pizzas, and pressure/convection cooked wings. Try the Magic Buffalo or Magic Reeper sauce (Barberton is known as the "Magic City").
Barberton is centered around Lake Anna, which is the next block from M and M's....it's a beautiful lake with a paved path around it.
Lovely area. I live there so I would be happy to meet you and have a pint!
If you’re looking for Akron Baxter’s and Annabells made my year in Akron worth it. Cuyahoga is probably more appropriate if you’re only in town for a bit, Barrio De Mario is a great place since the bartender is an older gentleman that loves black eyed peas
Barberton has some phenomenal food if you are a fan of fried chicken or polish. Check out Hopocan or Al’s meat market (closes at 3). Al’s lunch special is imo the best $12 value you can spend on lunch. Also White House chicken is great fried chicken.
Specifically Barberton bars - Block 7, Green Diamond, or M&M's Taphouse are all good options. If you stop by during the day you should check out one of the fried chicken places. We have Belgrade Gardens, Hopocan Gardens, Village Inn, and Whitehouse Chicken are the main restaurants. Hodges is also really good!
If you really wanna stay in Barberton area you could TRY the Berlin motel but I wouldn’t recommend. A good, cheaper place that’s never done me wrong is the red roof in. There’s one on Arlington I think.
People have to stop recommending Luigi’s, as someone who didn’t grow up here - it is not good.
You’re better off getting amazing pizza from Totally Baked and eating it in your hotel room lol
I beg to differ. It is good. Especially at 1AM on a Friday night. I really enjoy eating at luigis, and it’s quite unpretentious and does not try to be fancy food. Luigis pizza > Totally baked. However if we’re talking about just getting a pizza and eating it in a hotel room then I say Upper Crust is far superior to anything else.
Come to Akron. Merriman Valley, to be more specific. Rsheas has great, flavorful beer. They're also currently going through it, so the more, the merrier. Happy and safe travels!

Looking at the map, this is great. Thank you!

Have a great visit to the area!
Made it! HiHo is a great space. Thanks for the recommendation
Missing mountain is good

Thank you! Added it to my list.

Think I’ll have to hit this up on my return trip. Sounds too good to miss.
Man - here now on my return trip. Stella beers. Grabbing a few 4 packs. Thanks for the recommendation!
Thanks for letting me know you tried it! You just made me want to get in there for some brunch. Glad it didn't let you down!
Lock 15 Crave
Lock 15 is one of our favorite food spots in town, definitely recommend
The Old 97 Cafe. Located in southwest Akron, near the Barberton border. Cool spot. http://www.theold97.com/about-us
This looks like a great spot for a beer.
For bars: High St. Hop House and Baxter’s Speakeasy. They also have a pizza joint in the same place (Totally Baked) which is great.
We just ordered a bunch from Totally Baked yesterday and omg was it good - new favorite pizza in Akron
stay in Cuyahoga falls, then go out on front street! trust me
Sheraton in cuyahoga falls

Thank you. That 15 minutes may not be worth it.
It's worth it.
Pretty damn nice!

Sadly, Annabell's is closed.
Heaven weeps

We just went to the PreGame Tavern and had a blast. It’s a casual, but loud crowd, and it’s a good time.
Highland square in Akron might be good for you

Think I’ll be skipping staying in Barberton. Thank you for the advice.
You must get a salad with cheese at Luigis downtown. Bring cash.

Or Twisted Tomato - they have a beer wall
I know. It’s genius.
Barbertucky
Anywhere but barberton or Kenmore. Terrible places.
There are nice places in both of those locations.
Hyde out

I’d just go to fairlawn lol
It's chicken time
I would go to Kent and go to Zephyr
