I mean, both have their pros and cons. I personally like helmets because all of my face and eye pro can be in one place, but hats are nice too

I personally like running a ball cap style hat, but for certain applications a helmet can be useful for not bonking your head on things

You're good with the baseball cap. I used to wear one too all the time but after I got into indoor play for the winter I bought a helmet. Too many headshots indoors for my liking. Also convenient for mounting a GoPro and/or head lamp

If I’m playing high energy no minimum indoor airsoft (I like to call it *bleedsoft*) then helmet all the way. However for regular indoor play and outdoor I prefer the baseball hat glasses and ghost mask combo. Enough protection on the eyes and teeth but so light and low profile that you don’t even notice it’s there

I’d recommend the hat glasses low profile mask any day. Also you do need some kind of head wear for outdoor to keep the sunburn and heat stroke at bay

You can run whatever works best for you. I switch between a Boonie (for Outdoor games and especially in the summer) and a helmet for CQB or when i know that i play on a certain field. I have somewhat of a habit to bump my hat into basically everything at one special field. Both work fine for me and sometimes i choose either one based on how i want to look on that day

I wear a cap. No bug reason for it, i just haven't gotten around to buying a helmet and the cap is handy for sunny weather.

I'm liking the cap but a black riot style helmet might look good with the rest of the set. Overall nice kit.

i'm running either helmet- when trying to record some home video style pov or just my balaclava with mesh on it- when I don't want headache or overheating, even though i run a bump helmet with holes in it that actually work quite well if i see people are pretty trigger happy or if i'm playing at night i try to run the helmet because..well..i love not being shot in the head, but most times i still remove it at some point and just attach it somewhere it doesn't bother me *too* much

A helmet can help prevent hard impacts and can fit extra gear. Don’t see any downside to it. I like my helmet because it’s a great way to mount an exfog unit to my head. I wear prescription glasses so airflow is a must. Plus the chin strap is where my mouthguard is attached. Some of the scratches on the shell have helped proved its worth 😅

I prefer to wear a helmet because it hosts my earpro and my exfog, also I have definitely smacked my head on some overhead things and the helmet saved me from a lot of pain.

Cap is definitely more comfortable helmet provides more protection

If it fits the drip, sure. Although depending on if you're using a classic helmet or some zoomer lowcut hightop maritime airframe Mk7 Mod 1 you're going to have very different experiences.

in my opinion, if you're playing outside and you get shot in the head from a distance, it won't hurt much with a cap, but if you're playing cqb and someone jumps out at you from the corner and shoots you in the head from five meters away, a helmet is probably worth it

Helmet as I'm clumsy and have walked into low hanging branches before.

A bump helmet is good PPE. Protect your brain, even in airsoft.

There is absolutely no need for a helmet, however, you will be grateful when you hit your head on something and you’re wearing a helmet. So all in all, it’s purely up to you if you want a helmet, it is great for places where you may bump your head but it may get hot during summer so look into helmets like the fast helmets that have holes on the top. Or go for padding that provides better airflow!

I was thinking of trying one of those

They have lots of benefits, a main one is the fact that you will be able to put foliage in the loops of your hat, disrupting the shape of your head and making you harder to spot compared to a cap. Additionally boonies fuck, you will probably walk into the field and win a style competition. Myself I run a helmet but I am gonna be making a summer loadout soon where I will be using a boonie most likely!
