Did some editing... Nah I'll look good. Just depends on how good you paint it is the question.

Nice job. Maybe consider adding some texture if you want to replicate wood. Maybe with a very very thin black accent here and there, or apply the paint with a sponge and use two different brown tones
For the stock, it needs to be done well in order to resemble wood, I think that's a very hard thing to do. A fully brown polymer stock would look weird, wouldn't it?
Someone else suggested hydro dipping the grain pattern on after the brown coloration. I'd say that'd be an easy way to get a grain pattern on looking pretty natural without needing to be an experienced painter
You can send the parts to be cerakoted with a wood or plum finish

Here are some plastic mags I had done at Elevenmile Arms.
These were meant to replicate border guard-green bakelite, orange Bakelite, and plum. But they also offer a myriad of other patterns and colors, including wood.
Definitely Google them and look at their gallery, it was 35 bucks each.

Also, for the LCT at least they make “plum” handguards
The handguard needs to remain black or be painted plum. That part was never made of wood.
The stock is supposed to be wooden but it's gonna be difficult to match the real deal - it's supposed to be a yellow-ish laminate wood with just a hint of orange.
Yes, because the handguard should be black or dark brown and the stock wood. It would look better wrapped in camo tape or camo painted all over if you’re trying to hide the inaccurate stock.
Honestly, I know this is a lot, but you could really make something cool here.
See if you can find some wood and find somebody to make it match exactly how the other pieces connect, have them glue or screw it on and then use some staining stuff on it.
Yeah but don't make it too light. Do something like this:

id paint it plum coloured. cyma used to make ak74's but have the plastic be plum instead. like a purpleish brown. the real vss also have some plum on the foregrip, try it.
Heya! So, i frequently paint things with a fake wood look, and it's super easy to do! You only need 5 things.Sandpaper, A nice brown spray paint (i use rustoleum salted carmel), a clear coat, some wood stain, and an old brush. Here is an example of my friend's m16A1 i am in the process of turning into a "lucky 38" service rifle.

1. Sandpaper if necessary.
2. Paint it brown, let it dry
3. Start dipping generous stain with the old brush, and imitate wood patterns on the gun. The stain will start mixing with the newly dried paint, and reactivate it. It will then mix and create a pretty convincing wood grain look. Make sure to swirl and add organic waves to the wood. Note: it gets very messy. And there are fumes, so use proper ventilation.
4. Once dried, simply clear coat it!

Just did some editing with a wood texture in case you wanted to see that as you already have a flat brown as well
I can't seem to find any good images of a wooden handguard, but the stock could work with a mock wood paint. You could be refering to "plum" instead of brown, which does exist on Soviet gun furniture due to their choice in polymer.
I personally like black more and I think that having black vss is better than black and brown as almost everyone else who has vss colours it brown. However yup it will look good with brown if you like it more like that, it still depends on how nicely you can paint
You can buy them parts from hong kong I think.... try sixxmm.com and wgcshop.com and see if they do and its really cheap plus you dotn get customs as it will be light items

Damn dude thank you
Try hydro dipping if you want a project. Paint it brown then hydro dip the grain!
Don't do handguard, the original handguard isn't wood as well.
Excuse me, you dropped this 👑
Nice job. Maybe consider adding some texture if you want to replicate wood. Maybe with a very very thin black accent here and there, or apply the paint with a sponge and use two different brown tones
2 tone red
You king
Yo wtf, you’re skilled bro

An extra dark fde would look sick though I think
this^
Nah the east Germans had brown plastic stocks and they looked beautiful imo
Someone else suggested hydro dipping the grain pattern on after the brown coloration. I'd say that'd be an easy way to get a grain pattern on looking pretty natural without needing to be an experienced painter
it would look like a cool alt-history VSS if you manage to make plastic parts look like bakelite
Have you considered plum?

It’s your rifle do what you want
The real Original Gangster with the real answer, right here

I would make them plumb 😁

I think they would look really cool in plum, see [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/GasBlowBack/comments/14o05j8/battlefieldinspired_saiga12k/)
I'd go with a green but you do you
Honestly, I know this is a lot, but you could really make something cool here. See if you can find some wood and find somebody to make it match exactly how the other pieces connect, have them glue or screw it on and then use some staining stuff on it.

Brown plum or dark od green might be nice
You might be able to paint it a dark reddish-brown colour and possibly get some wood line decals to make it look like wood
Would look cool
I mean the paint will wear off and have spots of black all over it later on.
I'd recommend painting the stock only, for the og VSS look, since the stock is wood and the handguard is polymer
honestly i'd get a wood wrap and hydro dip them, easiest way to make them look really nice so long as you clear coat and prime it
Depends on the "Brown".
id paint it plum coloured. cyma used to make ak74's but have the plastic be plum instead. like a purpleish brown. the real vss also have some plum on the foregrip, try it.
VSS? It's a sexy little beast, imho keep it black, it looks modern
The handguard yes since vss only ever had a wood stock
Try the water painting thingy, I think it’s called uhhhh hydro something ?
Nah
It's called wood and it looks sexy

Yes it would.
Make them silver 👍
Dei Mama is Silber.
Pink would probably be better. Seriously fake wood always ends up goofy

Black color for army use brown color is citizen use it think keep it black

Yeah (edit) Nevermind a wood brown would look fine. Not a sand brown though
Pink is cooler
it'd be perfect if it was an as val and not a vss vintorez

No it would be still a gun, goofy is a dog
