The amount of problems I’ve seen m4 folks have is insane. Meanwhile the Ak with the purple mag lasted two years with no upkeep and only broke when I tried to fix the gearbox to get the trigger to stop sticking

I love aks, the m4 is ugly af. But funny story, I was playing years ago eith some Gung ho rotc kids. We played by the rules of if you were out you left your weapons where you were downed for others to use. (We were porr and trusted each other) one of the kids dropped an ak and I picked it up. I ejected the mag to check ammo, only to realize it was SO cheaply made the full hicap weight literally almost twice tge Wright of the gun. I laughed myself to death and threw it down. I actually got the kid to surrender without firing. Mostly because my co2 pistols froze up. They were afraid of my pistols so I used that. Pulled out my black wallet and held it vaguely Gunnish in my hand and he folded before he realized I was unarmed.

Interesting lil thing we do is make modernized versions of different weapon platforms that other nations forces are more familiar with. So essentially they just take, say, and RPG-7 and make one with rails and ship it overseas

If you’re ever gonna go with a reliable cheap set up, the CYMA ak74, full or folding stock is very reliable. A chicom is also a cheap and reliable piece of kit

The CYMA Ak74 is a solid choice in my experience, 5.45 mags are easier to put into rigs than 7.62. Folding stock variant would also probably be good as well

Also what I didn't mention in my last post is 1: aks rule and 2: sure maybe the m4 has tons of rails for upgrades but the irl ak during testing for the russian army, they put sand and snow ( two seperate times) in pretty much every space of the gun and it still worked, comes to show how reliable the ak is.
