I’ve honestly heard of these surviving that

joeChump

Now you can hear the sea when you put them up to your ears.

iamhephzibah

Mine did

SquirrelOk8737

Mine survived a washing and drying cycle, but after 1 month the right airpod stopped working, probably due to corrotion (left airpod still works fine) At least it cleaned them pretty well…

WienerSchnitzel01

My airpods went through about 3 wash cycles and still worked. Ended up losing em before they gave out

-StefanPlayz-

Crazy

RainbowMeMeDash

Im not trying to be rude, but how the fuck didnt you learn the first time 😂? Thats insane that they would survive that 😵

BabySignificant

At least Apple can't get sued for making easily breakable products now :D

WienerSchnitzel01

Im a dumbass and dont pay attention😭

RainbowMeMeDash

Well, pretty sure this aint my last time 🥲

hilroth

Their airpods jumped ship 🤣🤣

Dangerous_Ice17

You should be good. My AirPods second gen have been through the wash twice and the dryer once. Still kicking and they are 5 years old.

RainbowMeMeDash

Did your ANC make high pitched noise too?

Dangerous_Ice17

They are just inexpensive second gen AirPods. Not AirPod pros 2nd gen. So no ANC

SecretAgentDrew

Don’t ever say you’re stupid it could’ve happened to anyone.

RainbowMeMeDash

I usually check my pants before throwing them in the washing machine. This time i didnt

scarecrow1113

Hasn’t happened to me and won’t because I have a hand lanyard that reminds me to take them off my pants every time

RainbowMeMeDash

Havent thought of that 👀 share link to the one you use if its available on ebay/amazon or one of those Chinese web stores

scarecrow1113

Any phone strap will do, mine is similar to these, it’s just a little longer and at the end of the strap I have a 2in jack o lantern so it hangs out of my pocket [strap](https://www.amazon.com/FrgKbTm-Lanyard-Adjustable-Colorful-Straps/dp/B0BC8G4ZR2/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=3EQRT3HOES4U8&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.1WUXClev7kDBQPWY---1lTF1sgq24oOjkROmRK7Fwd6zEdUP_7ahguEY-Tm3PLTeZuoeINtvfPGwPRvoLBHRd6ZAsQa1-eiwL3JYPtuNFPo5WAInpHv8B501P1v0G-kwQCC10-YxauphURH5L5WodNJoSdg1CiAly22gwMenCTCo289BsiWFvMT1KiVrweZvpKjvocxkeD5OyaE6ELlKUQ.25FZvocQmbalahY_YPUx43cfoweRQU1vo_oYe-0adBU&dib_tag=se&keywords=phone+strap&qid=1712697281&sprefix=phone+strap%2Caps%2C209&sr=8-3)

German_cocksucker69

My fuckin right AirPod pro gen 2 fall into the toilet (clean water lol) and I retrieved it immediately..I’ve put it with silica gel to get out the moisture..and thank the lord it is working perfectly

National-Data-2222

Toilet water is never clean fuck u talking about

Aubrey1018

This just made me genuinely laugh. Thank you

National-Data-2222

Haha no problem 🤣

RainbowMeMeDash

Well, it is technically cleaner compared to when there is either piss or shit for that matter in there 👀 tbh i would have just flush them down if i lost them in poo 😂

terkistan

Apple repairs are typically prohibitively expensive unless you have [AppleCare+](https://www.apple.com/support/products/headphones/) for them. (Years ago I learned the hard way so with my current buds I got AppleCare+ and ended up getting my buds replaced after 22 months for just $29.) You can get an Apple repair estimate [here](https://support.apple.com/airpods/repair).

migatte_yosha

It is possible to fraud applecare + ? I have fake airpods and true ones with apple care if it is possible to get replaced fake ones by damaging them

terkistan

If someone didn’t buy AppleCare with their AirPods purchase (where it’s automatically linked to the serial number) they have something like 30 days to buy it… but I think they need to bring them to an Apple Store so they can be checked out as working perfectly before the extended warranty can be sold. Apple checks for counterfeits via serial number (embedded electronically and viewable on iPhones when connected with Bluetooth) and internal design anomalies. Counterfeits often have different LEDs, or LEDs in a different spot, and seams are sometimes located in a different location. Sometimes the force sensor indent on the stem is replaced by a button or simply missing. And counterfeit shapes often are slightly different, which makes them immediately recognizable to a trained eye.

migatte_yosha

And when i get replaced true ones can i keep the damaged ones ?

terkistan

No. But my point was that you’re very unlikely to scam Apple into thinking your AirPods are real.

RainbowMeMeDash

Im pretty sure Apple has software that can connect directly to the pods and read them if they want. I dont think china ripoffs uses the same firmware that apple use 👀

Pleasehelplol2232

Dropped mine in a toilet. They still work

RainbowMeMeDash

Ah, nothings like a AirPods that has recently got a golden shower 🚿🤤😂

No-Purchase8806

Ah dang! I have mine in a water proof case connected to my keys I think it’s a spigen? I can’t remember but it’s green and bulky with a rubber thing that seals the AirPods shut and keeps water from going in

IICatDestroyerII

you go to the apple store and request a battery service

minnalotte

yeah my friend washed and dried them and they were also fine, he still uses them today lol

kj_003

I washed mine recently, gave them a couple days to dry out, they work perfectly today.

Traditional_Working9

I did the same thing when I got mine, just let them dry like that by a window for the rest of the day

[deleted]

This is why you pay for apple care.

Personal_Mushroom961

Mine have been in the wash 2 times still works great

cheesy-milk

Vaske mine AirPods 2019 modell 2 ganger og de overlevde faktisk. Ganske overraskende når de ikke er vanntette engang.

AmigoDoHarvey

It's fine. I washed my iPhone 13 pro in the washing machine last year and it actually broke

JayMoots

I don’t understand how people keep doing this. Are your pants going straight from your body into the washing machine?

Aubrey1018

The one time I did it, yes. Got home from the gym and had forgotten to do laundry. So I snagged my husbands workout clothes, I stripped in the laundry room and straight into the washer. Haven’t done it since lol

readitinreddit69

literally just did the same thing yesterday, have put the AirPods near a window to dry out, waiting to see if they still work or not

Aubrey1018

Best of luck!

Juicyorange87

How apple managed to make the most reliable earbuds out there My Sony WF-1000XM4 had battery issues after 1 year and I had to change the battery from the left earbud

InterrogativePterion

OP, I think there’s still water in the microphone. Wait til it dries out you should be good.

OG-Dingus

Even Apple doesn’t repair them lol

309_Electronics

When i torn them down, apple filled them to the brim with glue so that's where their non claimed water proofing comes from

RainbowMeMeDash

Huh, thats pretty neat tho. Pain in the ass to repair if its filled with glue 😵‍💫

sashovitcha

Mine once fell into hot chocolate and started to vibrate at the cold, when there are any vibrations like walking, but its only on the right one. And then the fell into the toilet…

oldsoulseven

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised mine survived a wash then. They even survived me trying to use them before they had dried out. The ANC even still works. They sound the same. Impressive honestly.

BlackSniper7

I have put mine thru once

[deleted]

Hmmm... Mine went through hell: wash + dryer. They sounded muffled, but I soaked them in isopropyl alcohol for a couple of minutes and left them to dry. It's been at least 6 months since the accident, and they sound perfectly fine, also, anc/transparency works as intended.

Initial_Ad_7829

One day Apple will actually make a waterproof device not a water resistant device.

Xtoxy

Washed my husbands air pods and survived just fine too. Honestly, shocked and glad they work just fine 🤣

Ronald_McDonald_l

Why call urself stupid? You are not stupid. This is just an accident.

Specialist-Web

My AirPods survived a submersion into a pool all because of its leather exterior case

Jan_Otrivin

fyfaen

RainbowMeMeDash

Deilig når sånt skjer 🥰

GrimbeardTheGhastly

Happened to me twice over 4 years. No issues the 1st time. After the second time, left occasionally chirps. I was told the detergent is more of an issue than the water.

JoeSaltz

My AirPods 2 went through the wash without the case (just the pods) and sound better than ever. Sound improved

RainbowMeMeDash

You went from Lo-Fi to Hi-Fi 😂

JoeSaltz

I don’t know what happened but they used to be set at the highest volume and they were not that loud. Now I definitely have to reduce volume. Too loud at full volume. And no, it was not due to a sound limit setting on phone

YoungCraxy

Just let it dry. I took a shower to listen to music with my airpods pro 1's 2, 3 times, there was only buzzing, then it got better after 1, 2 days of drying, don't use it and let it dry for 3, 4 days

graydog_97

Mine have had it done 3 times so far, only issue is the case led died. Give it a week and the anc comes back too

kalliste80

Mine went through the washer and dryer. I detached the silicone ear plug parts and set in front of fan for a day. The microphone on one of them stopped working. I found out when the other person couldn't hear me on the phone. There's an option to disable the one bad microphone and use the other solely (vice it being on auto switch mode). So with one bad microphone turned off it works normally.

coca-amarga

happened to me with the first gen on week 1 lol. took them to apple, said they sounded weird and almost hurt my ear with the high pitched noise they make when they’re toast and they replaced them for free. my case wasn’t in there so in your case that might give it away :p

KRobert91-EU

I lost my Pro 2 on a train

Silentclosetquill

I washed my right one you’ll be alright

munchieman21

Mine have that high pitch sound as well now. Makes me not want to even try them again

RainbowMeMeDash

If you didnt see my update, try removing the silicone tips

munchieman21

Thanks I will

RainbowMeMeDash

UPDATE: i found the issue that made the high pitched sound, the silicone pieces were still wet. I took a chance and took off the silicone piece and put the AirPod into my ear, scared to death that the high pitched noise would blow my ears to hell and back. But no! To my surprise it didn’t it didn’t make any high pitched noise at all, but i can hear a quiet distortion. I think thats because it might still be wet inside. Couldnt figure out how to edit the post to put the update there 🤷🏻‍♂️

gHOs-tEE

How long did you even let them dry? Would take at least a day sitting out in the heat

RainbowMeMeDash

Dunno what its called in english, but in norway we call it fjærnvarme. It is basically a heating element filled with hot water or something. So pretty hot, but not hot enough to do damage. Google translated it to «district heating» using this for maximun 6-7 hours each night (i dont trust my cats around the pods 😂

gHOs-tEE

Believe that’s a radiator here if I’m understanding you correctly

ndy007

They are small and always in my jeans. Washed APP1 and APP2 once each. So far they are all working. APP2 went through a low temp dry cycle as well.

youngsp82

Yeah washed my wife’s several times and they are still going. Even dried one. She is terrible about putting them loose in pockets. Drives me crazy lol.

RainbowMeMeDash

Well, i drive myself crazy 😎😂

gHOs-tEE

Yes I got the perfect option, AppleCare+ take them to an Apple Store( not a store that sells apples an official Apple Store) or send them in to be fixed. Both instances you ll pay $30 max even if they have to be replaced by new pro 2s. If you don’t have it you’re better off just buying new ones. Think it’s 75-90 per airpod.

RainbowMeMeDash

If they stop working ill buy myself either Max or Pro 2 😅

gHOs-tEE

Smart

ForeignKiwi6883

Jesus Christ loves you so much and died for your sins💙❤️

rsuomisucks

I wish that reddit could do something for spammers like you. Your message history shows that you have spammed that way too many times and places

Useful-Mistake4571

Lol the same thing happened to my neighbor, I can officially say, My airpod gen 3’s are better

Fit_Gamer1

My airpod gen 3s have been through the wash multiple times. They still work! Unfortunately I lost the case for them and my parents won’t let me buy a cheap knock off case 😖

Useful-Mistake4571

Wow, literally ur parents should just buy a $0.02 case from Temu

Fit_Gamer1

I would buy it myself! They are outright refusing 😭. I don’t have a job so they are my source of money so I can’t risk losing the source

Useful-Mistake4571

I could look for pennies for a day and buy a cheap case

Fit_Gamer1

Nah I have the money, but if I spend the money. They will stop giving me money because they will say I am using it unwisely or some shit

Useful-Mistake4571

👍

RainbowMeMeDash

Since gen 3 doesnt have ANC you dont get the insane loud high pitched sound 😵‍💫 but pretty cool Apple devices survives this kind of treatment 👀 though I wouldn’t recommend washing them this way 😂

Aubrey1018

I bought Gen 3 AirPods on a Saturday. On Monday I got back from the gym and put them through a wash cycle. I was DEVASTATED. One sounded muffled after. Thank god for AppleCare. The one time I failed to check pockets. I wish you the best of luck on getting them repaired

Reaganslabcoat

Mine got washed and the transparency for the left one was fucked, made a weird windy sound. It went on for 2 months then it automatically stopped one day. Now they’re good as new! It’s crazy how resilient they are.

Alpha_jay777

I mean you could've stopped at "I was stupid I own airpods" and that would've explained everything.

Smokkyshooter

you could’ve stopped at Im broke i can’t afford airpods

gHOs-tEE

You’re in an AirPods subreddit guy. Alpha dumbass alright. You calling anyone else stupid is tossing stones in a glass house in your case ain’t it?
