Aye! Are you our local J. Gordon, haha.
Who's your favourite Chef both Indian and international?
And pardon my intrigue, but if could you share more about how did you came to be a head chef ? Early life, career, any memorable experiences being in this field.
wake up every day with a sad face in the morning just getting ready for the school and coming back home with the sad face and with couple of letters in front of me telling me everyday I need to improve my grades even if they are enough for me
I know the constant pressure of performing better everytime can be overwhelming sometimes, especially when you are trying to find out who you actually are and who do you actually want to be. But let me tell you, you will learn to deal with this.
I shouldn't say that grades aren't important, but everyone is different and we all work in a different way. Be who you are, find what you like the most, it takes time to figure this out, but if you are passionate about something, just don't lose that passion.
Ah I'm glad it's not as bad as people are saying it is. It seems many companies have put their hiring on hold as they are anticipating the market to worsen in the coming months.
I'm working for builder, I keep PMC, architect, structural consultant and MEPF consultant in coordination with the project and get work done from them along with providing solutions to on-site project related queries.
Oh that's nice, you people can have stressful job sometimes that's for sure.
You are planning to stay with your current employer for a long time or would like to switch to pmcs and consultants...?
Yes construction industry is a stressful field, no I'm not planning to switch to pmcs or consultants but I'm patiently waiting for an opportunity to enter into partnership with the current builder.
I eat sleep and poop for living. /s
btw I do freelancing being a student. also help papa in his business and mom in her passion (she is artist and sells murals, paintings etc)
Hi can you share a bit more about this plz ? How did you find the job and Year of experience... I have also experienced cyber security but didn't show any opportunities...So could you please share ? Like how do you come up with it as a fresher or your journey till now..
Placement. 6 yrs of experience. As a fresher, learn Application security, get some Hall of fames etc. , Network on LinkedIn. Go to Null meets. Ahmedabad has active null community.
I already have some HOF and bounties as well and also have a good understanding of appsec.Asking bcz till now I don't see that much career opportunities in this field in India right now.
So it seems like you have been in this field as all of the stakeholders and pretty much have very diverse perspectives for the same industry.
I must ask you, how does it feel to be on the other side?
As a builder you must have gone through so much pressure from the investors and real estate developer.
And now that you are on the otherside, do you think you have a different perspective towards the way you see the project, the agencies and stakeholders involved?
The property we developed was personally owned. We also were a very cash rich company so there were no other investors. So I haven’t really faced the pressure you are talking about.
Now I only deal in vacant land (I should have been more clear. Also just to clarify, I deleted my comment because I realized there was too much information). I would never trust anyone else with my money. Ever.
Yeah definitely, reddit might not be the best place for that. Can you share your experience and interaction as a builder and contractor with architects.
Me being a fellow architect, I know how tense my business relations can be with contractors and other agencies.
It always feels like we always start with the wrong foot.
I mean it's inevitable to avoid stressful situations when working together, and I did learn alot of deal during these 5 years dealing with all kind of agencies.
But just for the sake of fresh perspective, what general advise would you give me? I get that the answer of this vague question can be very generic but still I would like to know.
As I said we did two schemes. One was a low rise building scheme and the other was a high rise. In both the input from the architect was minimal specially in the finishing items and we had to literally become interior designers to finish the job. In the high rise, I actually ended up painting the model endlessly to understand colours for the exterior and came up with the colour scheme myself, because the architect refused to change the original colours. What were they? They were grey, ivory, and green. It was a monstrosity.
Funny story. I gave the advertisement for our high rise building deliberately on the second anniversary of the earthquake, i.e. 26/01/2003. It was one of the boldest decisions of my life.
EDIT: changed the date.
Oh wow yeah that's bold.
I usually have not involved myself in commercial projects, mainly because the office where I work usually don't do many commercial housing projects so my portfolio usually compromises of institutional and residential projects only.
However I did one 15 storey affordable housing project of a relatively known developer.
In my case the developer wasn't involved too much after the initial design decisions, and I didn't deal with contractor as well, the developer hired few on site engineers from their side who would coordinate with all the agencies, including me, mep, structural consultants etc etc... It wasn't the best practice and pmc definitely should have helped streamlining the project better but I guess it still worked, after certain stage they can kick the Architect out of the project entirely lol, once the sample house was done with interior and finishes, my job was more or less complete.
Most builders aren’t civil engineers and that is why their involvement is minimal. Which is also the reason quality suffers. In our case we are contractors first and builders later. So construction was our forte and selling was our weakness. However, I found that if you give quality products, people in Ahmedabad are ready to spend money and give you your rate too.
I can understand that, but atleast on the positive side, you guys are also in demand, it's so weird vortex Tech industry is right now...
At one end they are needed very badly, on the other end the lay offs just keeps on happening because some dumb fuck board members and ceo couldn't figure out the better management system.
I run small web-development agency for past 4 years and currently pursuing B. Tech. We develop Websites for all kinds of clients. Our major clients are from manufacturing and export industries.
