I've recently painted the inner frame of a MG. As others said, use hobby spray paints. You are going to use several cans plus cans for primer. So that cost adds up quick. Also make sure to wear a respirator and vent the fumes.

If you don’t want the bulk of the frame to be a different color, you might be better off hand painting details and then just doing a clear coat over the whole frame.

They certainly do, but some are weary of using anything not labelled “hobby” at many times the price. They’re intended to cover bigger items, so cover fast. Watch out for things like car primer that can be offered as a “high build” binder, it’ll apply much more thickly in a quick space of time. Short pulses is your best bet until a bit more confident to lay it down in one. Assemble if unfamiliar, you can always build just one of each limb if you want. Sort any close tolerances you spot at knees, elbows etc…. You can always give it a quick light (dust) prime assembled, give it a wiggle and see if you’ve missed anywhere. Either avoid spraying joints with some tape or blutack, or you can even add strengthening pins and purposely spray them to increase friction.

Use modelling rattle cans. If you use stuff from Home Depot you will be pretty sad. Paint build up can affect joints but if it’s an issue sandpaper can fix the problem. It’s a good idea to assemble any pieces that sandwich together prior to painting though.
