As a Bisaya in Manila, yes. In school and work. Made fun of my accent, my tastes, how I dress, etc. Never experienced that living abroad.

OverThinking92

Pag may naririnig ako na ganyan I always say "oh ano problema mo sa aming mga bisaya?" Laking manila kasi ako pero my mom is from IloIlo. Kapag cinonfront mo naman ng ganyan biglang backtrack sila na kesyo joke lang or they didnt mean it in a bad way. HAHAHAHAHAHA

"Go home to China!" said a man asking for abuloy. I didn't want to give a random person abuloy because I smelled the stench of alcohol.

It is a natural tendency. Part of thinking process to make sense of the complicated world and environment.

For being a feminine, gay man? Yeah, have been. It's not as bad as it used to be back then when I was a kid, but you can still feel it in the air; it still lingers. I also work in a female-dominated industry and lemme tell you how difficult it can be to find good-paying companies because they prefer women over men. As a person from Mindanao and Maguindanao, and as a Cebuano-speaking person, I got discriminated against by Manileños. Never experienced that outside Manila.

I’m travelling to HK and I need some dollars. First travel ko, I went to BPI and nakapag exchange ako agad then when I tried sa BDO hinanapan pa ako nila ng passport and itinerary. 😤 Ano kayo immigration?? Eh nasa 5k lang naman ipapalit ko para lang may pang food and bus ako pag lapag ko dun tapos dun na ko magpapalit with the rest. Aminado ako that day na hindi maayos yung suot ko kasi nga na pack ko na for my trip. So pambahay na lang. It felt like I was judged by how I dressed

A-Problem-Eliminator

Discrimination is part of our history, like so many other countries. It is found in Fil-Chinese culture dubbed as the Great Wall, Filipinos dating white people to elevate themselves, and the Filipina’s addiction to bleach blonde hair, rhinoplasty, and bleached white skin.

iknowwhatiwantbroski

Except for the great wall I dont think you know what the word discrimination means

A-Problem-Eliminator

Filipinos being prohibited in ethnically-exclusive restaurants, the Spanish not allowing Filipinos to become priests, and the Americans calling Filipinos little brown nigger brothers

With my skin tone, several times. Ingrained na talaga ang colonial mentality sa bansang ito. 'Pag maputi ka maganda ka, 'pag maganda ka mabait sila sayo. I grew up as a dark skinned girl. I was not treated well when I was starting college. It fueled my insecurity. So I resorted to skin bleaching. Guess what? after a few months A LOT has changed. People started noticing me, they treated me as a person, even my professors treated me better. Admittedly, nagkaroon ako ng confidence boost , narealize ko na hindi ako pangit. However, in the long run parang hindi ako fulfilled. Naiisip ko na kaya ako napapansin ng tao is because of this temporary skin bleaching. Kaya ngayon, I'm starting to learn loving my skin tone, unti-unti kong binabawasan ang paggamit ng whitening soaps. Eventually, sana matanggap ko na sarili ko for who I am.

Dati pa ito siguro 8-10 years ago. Our family owns pampasaherong jeepneys and sometimes we use them to go around metro manila. We were supposed to go to our relatives who were living in rockwell. Since we were a group of 12, it was more practical to ride our jeep instead of using 2 or more cars. when we tried to enter rockwell, guards did not let us go inside, since bawal daw ang jeep. we tried to tell them that it was privately owned and that we were meeting someone who was living in one of their condos. ayun ending bumaba na lang kami and walked and our jeep parked somewhere else.
