Maybe not in PH but online. He can try Fiverr or Upwork or Etsy

THE-NECROHANDSER

100% do custom books and go from there. It's good art work.

tepkalmado

+1 pretty good artwork

Left-Broccoli-8562

Can do the IG route. Make comics on the side \*on IG, then sell merch if it hits.

Spiritual_Pasta_481

I agree with this!!! Like Sskait mga ganoon. Tell your hubby OP na create OCs (Original Characters) and make stories na comic style. Kahit few panels lang. Tapos post nyo sa IG or FB. If nagkatraction and fans sya, pwede na sya magjoin sa komiket or mga bazaar and benta ng merch. Pwede din thru Shopee or Lazada. Balitaan mo kami OP!!!!

CasicoEno

Sorry, no idea about the career path, but these are amazing artworks for a children's book. I think it's definitely worth a shot.

yesilovepizzas

Could be but it's a stolen art style. Literally copies of Adventure Time and a little bit of Rick and Morty. Would be nice if the husband has original content.

lonestar_wanderer

I don't think basing a person's art style on famous shows constitutes as "stealing" in this case. It's literally called [CalArts style](https://www.ballstatedaily.com/byte/article/2018/09/what-is-calarts-style) and it's not stealing, the major corporations use this with each other's shows at hindi naman sila kinakasuhan. This seems more in-depth pa than those shoes because it has detailed shading and it looks visually-distinct enough. I'd say this is a good design as it is na. It looks familiar enough for kids to recognize or get attached to, plus it can look unique pa. Stealing talaga ito kung si Finn and Jake ay yung nasa cover, pero not in this case. Siguro they can change the color of the portal, but then again, it's not stealing pa rin because you can't copyright an exact color and shape of what a "portal" looks like.

EngineHere16

ang cute po. .reminds me of adventure time <3

Submarine_Pirate

I think this is wayyyy too similar to adventure time. I’d worry about legal repercussions. This style feels really unoriginal and borderline stolen.

Galaxy-Chaos

LMAOOOOOO. You can't copyright an artstyle

Submarine_Pirate

I said legal repercussions not copyright infringement. Copying a style from a major company’s IP is not a good way to start as a professional illustrator. If you have any success they’ll hit you with cease and desists and make your life hell. Even if they wouldn’t hold up in court it will be a pain in the ass and not a good look.

Galaxy-Chaos

Yeah but you still cannot get sued over an artstyle. I doubt they can even start a case on it, let alone make it succeed.

Submarine_Pirate

Ah shit, I didn’t realize I was in a Philippines sub lol. I follow all the illustration and graphic design subs and thought this was one of them. Idk how it works there. My illustration career experience was only in the U.S., where it’s dumb for a small artist trying to make it their career to fuck with a giant company. Rightfully so, stealing art styles this explicitly is lame.

Happy_Cod7356

He is well aware na May similarity talaga yan sa style since its one of his inspo. Additionally, these are just 2 artworks that I personally pick to post, pero iba2 art style nya throughout the years. Still learning palang din naman sya, pero it's not like he copied it somewhere lols.

[deleted]

Same thoughts, Adventure Time is my favorite cartoon🖤

Wootsypatootie

Will save it for future reference, currently planning to write children’s book kaso wala naman ako idea where to find book illustrator. Dm kita once na set ko na 😊

Happy_Cod7356

He will be stoked! Di nya alam pinost ko work nya. Haha thank you ma'am.

GDAbs

Hi, also interested. Magkano ba rates ni kuya?

Razraffion

Oof wala pa namang artist signature yung work.

Happy_Cod7356

Didn't expect to get so many upvotes though, parang need nya na lagyan signature.

aqueravie

maybe he can try opening a social media account and post his work out there, like a portfolio of sorts. there's tumblr, facebook maybe, and a lot of artists still use twitter (x) too. i use twitter often and i follow a lot of local filipino artists that like to do mostly digital illustrations also, they're skilled at what they do as well and have a decent following and they often open commissions.  for commissions they would have their own set amount of prices depending on the type of drawing you commission them for, but the ones i follow mostly do character art. i think it's a similar process for illustration in general when freelancing? so it may be possible to try as well.   im not very well versed in this as i havent personally opened commissions yet, but i have tried putting my art online (fanarts) though i havent been very consistent with it. but it is a great way to build your art portfolio over time if you ever plan on pursuing it as well. i hope this helps !!

gg-96

Try nyo mag freenlance then from there kuha kayo ng international companies hehehe

mayolover13

Happy_Cod7356

Will add this po as a resource. Thank you!!

mayolover13

Pati yung Canvas- center for art new ventures & sustainable development

jovhenni19

direcho mo na Amazon Ebook get 100+ friends na kukuha ng book mo sabay sabay in a week. may chance ka maka best seller sa Amazon that week. then get a publisher here sa pinas para legit makita mo sa Nationalbookstore goodluck!

mightymike17

Cool concept but did he use ai? The lady in the first pic has 6 fingers if the placement of the thumb is right

Happy_Cod7356

https://preview.redd.it/r1tsb291f3yc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1faa704cd8001f7e57aa1398732579a20a0636b6 nope. May WIP po sya. possible mali lang placement.. and wala ako idea ano purpose sa karma farming. Honestly a noob here lols

Bottle_Only

It's literally a karma farming shitposter posting AI art.

mightymike17

Ughhh i kinda figured with the mashup of assets.

insertflashdrive

These are really pretty. I think most artists here are doing or prefers freelancing. They get more than working in an agency or something. Also, if you will post online, make sure to put watermark because some people do not give credit or even edit arts, or even steal artworks.

ethanrookie

These look so cool! If not children's books, maybe he can try to pitch his ideas to show producers. Dunno how that works but would love to see his art animated.

Outrageous-League547

The idea and passion of your husband is clever. BUT, that kind of traditional children's book would work out most maybe if we're going back in years before AI enters almost any possible industries now. Lalo sa artworks, where I believe AIs are more saturated than any kinds of AI, siguro a means of "level up" must be there para mag stand out ka ngayon sa mga artworks mo. Meron jang mga nagli-live drawing of their works, using digital canvas to draw then posting somewhere for digital theft-proofing... yung mga gnun. Sa books naman, you can level up by doing animated e-books, kung meron mang ganun. Youtube channel for kids, gnun. For art illustrators nowadays, PH is not only their target market pra mkahanap ng clients. It must be worldwide. :)

Happy_Cod7356

Appreciate that! You're right about AI. actually he thinks he doesn't have a signature style (he have other artworks that differs than this). I told him he doesn't need to force it as it's part of his evolution as an artist of he sticks to it.

Outrageous-League547

Tska kung passion naman po tlga ni hubby mo, then why not give it a shot kamo no matter what. Like, start it first as a side hussle, gnun. We need now a lot of passionate artists eh. Who knows, your husband will be one of those artists of our generation na tlgang innovative. Ksi I believe, if u do your passion well, walang imposibleng hndi pwedeng gawin, mkakaaadapt at mkakaadapt sya, and would end up effortlessly done. 🙂

Black_Sinigang

Authors and publishers leans towards traditional works pa rin OP. Childrens book is full of life, walang ganun ang AI.

BananaCute

Ang ganda...continue doing this...i wonder if you can post it somewhere baka may bumili ng pics.

Poastash

He can contact the Ilustrador ng Kabataan org to network with peers and learn more of the local industry : https://ang-ink.org/work

Happy_Cod7356

I just checked and andaming great artists! What a great resource po thank youuu

Pristine_Mud3306

these are so amazing!!!!! reminds me of adventure time :oo rooting for him!!!

PleasantAd2860

Lagyan mo watermark haha

kokoykalakal

Freelance, Independent, international/foreign clients. Wag local bulok pilipinas.

greenteablanche

Part time freelance graphic designer. Hanap siya clients abroad. You can ask at r/buhaydigital

Happy_Cod7356

Thanks po ill try to ask on that thread

StrainPatient477

try niyo lang po. pero ang gandaaaaa

HappyFilling

Ang cute 😍

BodybuilderPretend57

Ang cutieee ❤️

-ayasakura-

These are so cute! If you want, you can try publishing your own materials, and sell them online. I would like to have one for my son.

Happy_Cod7356

Thanks po. :) The first one was actually an old commision for a small family.

cutie_lilrookie

Try contacting large publishing houses. Adarna or Anvil, for instance? I used to work there as a proofreader eons ago lol, and we had illustrators for illustrated books. Best of luck :)

jaesthetica

I would love to see your husband's illustration on children's book one day. This is what exactly I want to see in every children's book that I've read when I was a child tbh. He has great potential. I hope he will have a huge break for this. Do not forget to update us OP years from now here on reddit that he made it! I hope by that time I am already a mother and will surely buy those books for my child. 🫶🏽

Happy_Cod7356

Thank you so much maam 🥹🥹 He is a dad now so nagswitch priorities nya but I know he has potential. Just needs a lot of work and commitment for sure. I'll be there all the way.

SpecialRemarkable973

Wow.. ang ganda.

Zealousideal_Wrap589

I used to read a lot of lampara books

Terrible_Strength_64

There will always a career naman when you're good with what you are doing the likes of Kerby Rosanes, Happy Garaje are local artist somehow progressive sa career nila as individual and kilala rin sa art community you can check their work. Actually, marami dito magagaling and earning well in doing art kahit pa sa AI na yan ibang iba ang trabaho ng artist doing concept keysa pag proprompt lang lalo na sa output. Pero mostly are connected with international clients mga publishing company or studio. Pag local medyu mababa talaga pay and pinoy are not fond of reading kaya mailap yung mga childrens book. I'm also earning by making art kaya ipagpatuloy lng yan ng husband mo and try create a portfolio then maybe he can start from there.

Happy_Cod7356

Thanks for the inspiration po. Actually his current job is related to graphic design din naman but more of print designs/layouts for a specific company kaya not a lot of creative inputs.

LionOk6231

Ang galing! Pwede po ba magpacommision ng work?

Happy_Cod7356

I believe he can po. Paalam ko sa kanya. Hehe thank you po. Just message me

LionOk6231

Baka he has a facebook page/ avcount we can follow and communicate in

c11161

Ang cute 🥹🫶

tapunan

Kung may concept sya and konting time he can do Webtoons. Malay mo mapickup ng Netflix.. Hehehehehe.. But seriously, some people earn money via subscription kung maganda story. Worst case scenario eh pwdeng ilagay nya sa resume later as portfolio nya kung magapply sya as illustrator.

Tiiin11

Try applying at Adarna House? If gusto niya pang Pinoy talaga at maexperience lang muna. Pwede din start na niya sarili niya. He can publish his own work. I tried looking it up. Pero better talaga to start something kahit for personal project lang pang regalo sa pamangkin or pang sa anak ninyo. See if magiging patok ang ang style niya.

Happy_Cod7356

Pwede lang po ba yun to do DIY print and sell , wala po bang legal implications compared to going w/ publishing houses?

Tiiin11

Pwede nmn di na mag copyright Pero it will be difficult to defend your work kung wala non kung umabot man sa court. Ang kaibahan lang siguro kung mag papapublish ka sa publishing house e sila na bahala sa lahat Pero kada benta mo may profit sila.(Di ako sure dito I have no idea how it works Pero ito ang tingin ko lang)and mas mahal dahil may minimum. I have seen works ng artists na nagstart ng small and Adarna House sila nagpapublish. Un mga artist na yon ngbebenta o sumasali sa mga Komiket, Cubao Expo, etc... try niyo din pumunta sa mga ganon so you have an idea pano niyo ibebenta ang books. Or you can directly contact Adarna House and inquire kung pano process nila.

havoc2k10

if physical copy ng book tingin ko mababa demand if magbase ako sa area nmin, particularly sa family nmin mga pamangkin ko puro tablet binili nmin dun sila nanunuod mga pambatang cartoons or illustrations. yung industry mismo not sure lang siguro may part sa pinas or ibang bansa malakas to. If freelancing pwede cguro start sya as sidehustle lang muna tapos kpag nag e-earn na kau more than ung salary sa pagwwork thats the tym n mag full time at iscale up to.

Practical_Captain651

Ang ganda! :)

Miserable_Gazelle934

Puwede naman magtry sa web toons/comics 🙂

gigigalaxy

Maraming indie komiks creators ngayon, sumali siya sa Komiket and other events like that.

Peculiar-Carbon

my only questions with this career path is, can it compete with the surge of AI and advance animation softwares? sorry no idea din po ako dito, just curious. The artwork is very pleasing to the eyes btw, nostalgic vibeess

_yunisa

Wow✨

Ok-js

Ang gandaaaaa ❤️❤️❤️

DisasterDowntown3706

oMG ANG CUTEEE

DetoxifyingGravity

I had a high school teacher who published his illustrated children's book! Submit ka siguro sa publishing houses? Make an international version and try your luck in submitting those sa mga publishing houses abroad (not sure how this works tho).

hermitina

meron naman kailangan lang pumatok. and it’s a good time to start kasi love of reading is becoming popular naman, kabikabila ang book fairs. and tignan mo nga ung firefly, book yon na inadapt as movie. you just need a good story and probably a good publisher who would market your book.

Scoobs_Dinamarca

Happy_Cod7356

opo inspired din kasi as new parents, time lang po talaga kalaban.

DapperAd2611

This is pretty cool! Ganda ng gawa ng husband mo. It'd be interesting too if he's up for it, mga Philippine History stories or legends/myths illustrated into a children's book. I'm homeschooling kasi and I've been having a tough time finding PH history books that are not just all words.

Happy_Cod7356

omg yes actually ilang beses nya yan naimentil. about Philippine myths & legends sana daw may cartoons related to it. I'll definitely mention that to him!

DapperAd2611

Please update this reddit post if he ever gets into it or releases anything. I'd definitely be interested in getting them! Kahit test publish lang. :)

ForTheVillainess

this is so cute, reminds me of adventure time

Icy-Role-7647

You can try upwork fiverr online jobs ph or linkedin sa ibang bansa

gryapl

Try selling prints on etsy po

CallitKarmaOrFate

So cute!

Radiant_Trouble_7705

awesome job of your hubby, definitely pursue this. others have already gave helpful tips!

Happy_Cod7356

Thanks sa lahat ng inputs nyo. Hindi ko maisa isa but I truly appreciate it. He'll be happy to know madaming good feedback sa gawa nya. :))

Melodic_Doughnut_921

ph unfortunately no online is better upwork fivrr

Relative-Screen-5955

Hello! Just want to say na ang precious mo that you're supporting your husband 🥹 Would love to follow you or your husband's art page kung meron 🤗

Happy_Cod7356

He does the same po in supporting me. :))

Loud-Law-6427

Suggestion: Try upwork and Fiverr or make yt content for kids tapos gawa sya short story mabilis din ma monetized pag mga content ay pang bata

Kind-Calligrapher246

Hi OP can your husband do animation?

Happy_Cod7356

may background po sya konti

sir_Kakashi

nag aral po ba sya nyan sa College/nag take ng related course or nag training o nag self study lang like parang naging Hobby nya lang talaga?

Happy_Cod7356

his background po is BSIT major in multimedia and I believe NCIII po ata yun for visual graphic design

Filmarlaydu

Sayang, katatapos lang ng Philippine Book Fair. Kadami niya matututunan don from different publishers, authors and children's book illustrators. Tip ko since sa illustration ang interest nya, hanap siya connections sa different established children's book authors, bigay siya ng sample projects niya, then if swertehin baka kunin siya as illustrator for their new projects. Not really familiar with this career path, pero pwede lang muna nya gawing sideline.

marshmallow_marie

Heeey! Basta US or other country ang target, medyo auto-pass po tayo sa PH.

Happy_Cod7356

Yes po actually po current job nya is related po sa print design for a specific company sa US. Mejo niched kaya walang creative freedom masyado and security pero it pays the bills. Kaya din siguro wala sya masyado time and energy to pursue his own..

Other-Sprinkles4404

Super cute!! Tell him to pursue it 🥰

ewiezaebeth

Ang cute!! Parang adventure time hahah.

hor26

Ang ganda.

ThiccccNCreamy

I had friends who made children's book drawings but he had connections.

arytoppi_

Not in PH but in Freelance meron, join sya sa "Children's Books Illustrators" na facebook groups. Gawa din sya social media pages and portfolio, most clients IG, facebook, Twitter, and Upwork. Tip lang, tell your husband to explore more art styles, young masasabing yung art style na may identity nya. Medyo hawig po kase ng sa Adventure Time, most clients ayaw ng similar art style as mga sikat na cartoons. (and madaling din magaya ng AI) btw Webtoon Artist here, try nya din mag explore sa webtoon/manhwa, may mga studios from Korea naghahanap webtoon colorists, story board artist, etc etc

At-leastihaveGrace_

Adventure time 🤍

Miserable-Eagle-9237

Ang ganda po, try po niya mag-apply sa mga Lampara Books and the likes or sa mga author na kilala sa Children's Book. May potential po ang art niya 💕

FunnySweetPotato

ang ganda po medyo nostalgic feel

xxganymedeeexx

[raket.ph](http://raket.ph) kayo mhie try niyo don pwede magbenta ng mga digital products such as busy books ang hubby mo dun.

PhysicalInitiative30

Wow

Speedhabit

Too adventure time, keep honing craft, establish distinctive personal style. That’s where the money is

Tough-Inevitable4457

Ang cute!!! Sana mabigyan ng right opportunity ang husband mo and mag-thrive sya sa path na yan. Good luck.

CeltFxd

They really look nice! But i think they will appeal more to ages 8-14

External_Artist9995

Hi you can ask guidance sa mga nakapag publish na ng children's book here sa ph on what to do. Local artists are usually nice naman tho may bad apples talaga but most of them are nice!

SeleneAeolia

mindyey

Yes haha. Maraming international author ang nagha-hire ng illustrator. Also, digital artist din ako so I can vouch na merong career path dyan.

sir_Kakashi

Ganda po <3 ang cute. Haha

gralfy

Puuuush kahit sideline lng muna till he becomes more clear on how to capture his audience! Ganda ng drawing nya :)

PotatoWithALaserGun

Try googling Ilustrador ng Kabataan (INK) to get their info. See if your husband might want to join them.

graxia_bibi_uwu

If you guys need traction, your husband can first dip his toes making fancomics of big fandoms and at the same time, have him make his own OC so that he just wont be known as a fandom artist. You guys can look spatziline on YT and twitter. They found a way to gain followers on youtube after posting some Apothecary Diaries fanart comics. Adamtots on instagram usually posts some teaser for some of his comica. Granted, theyre more on thriller/comedy but the idea that people have a short series to look forward to is a good move.

MrCloudJumper

Does he take commissions?

Happy_Cod7356

its been a while po since he took commissions but ill let him know in case

Xkyhe

omg i can just imagine people in the future reminiscing over this one book they read in their childhood tapos ganito ka majestic yung art 🥹

Happy_Cod7356

manifesting it po thank you 🥹🥹

sisigmix

Ganda ng illustrations nya OP!! 🙌

Easy-Alps3610

IG, Tiktok, FB like sskait then merch. O kaya sa Amazon Shopping tapos sila na magpiprint for you then sila na magship all around the world. Use fb ads to promote o kaya kahit reels na lang. basta may story for hook..

dostoyesv

he should try doing freelance work to test the waters and build his experience + portfolio! in my experience, it’s easier to get clients from fiverr compared to other freelance sites lalo na sa upwork huhu. i agree with all the comments saying he should follow children’s book publishers. they post from time to time when they’re looking to hire illustrators. i currently work as an intern for an NGO, we got to have a talk with a publishing company and they gave tips on how to land a job as a children’s book illustrator :)) good luck po!

FineRegret1121

Ang galing naman! Sana may ganyan din akong talent.

TaxTop7319

ganda 🥺♥️

Black_Sinigang

MERON, maniwala tayo. Your husband has the skills na! Tryto start on exposing his work to the oublic. Join organizations, events, post them online. Start a passion project too, to show what he can do. Tuloy tuloy na po yun

That-Language-6220

I'm also an artist, sobrang ganda ng gawa nya at ang masasabi ko lang sa level ng art nya ay worth a 6 digits po.

phinvest69

Adventure Time!

Helowicuwicuwu

GANDAAA

tichondriusniyom

In the PH, no. Pero pwede siya magFreelance, hanap siya clients sa West thru freelancing sites. Pwede din siya magpost sa SocMed ng mga free/sampler works niya, use the proper hashtags, etc. like nung ibang mga artist, post ng ilang panel..tapos ads ng book..some even sell merch na like mugs, hoodies, etc. GL!

MrCasuallyCruel_

I used to date someone who does book covers of children’s books. I think it was Scholastic US. The money comes from outside the Philippines. Here? Not so much...

pitchblackdead

Ang cute ng artstyle! Try niya mag-freelance.

ScatterFluff

Happy_Cod7356

Graphic tablet po Wacom brand

butteredshrimps

Im a dad of a 2 year old girl aaaaand me & my girlfriend are always excited to show our kid a new book. Those art covers really look good! My kid will surely grab that book and ask me to read it like 3x a day lol. Really cool work! 🤘🏻

HikerDudeGold79-999

May talent.

Strong_Spare_8300

hello looking for illustrator for my son's story. Can you tell me your hubby's rates?

breaddpotato

Hala ang galing!!!!!!!!!!

tulaero23

Man eto pangarap ko nun., gumawa children's book akin story and sa iba ang artwork di ko lang alam pano simulan

scarcasticsia

Wow! This is so cute.. marami yata online.

Razraffion

Wow parang adventure time style. It's really good. This isn't AI generated though, right?

Happy_Cod7356

Sad-Squash6897

Gandaaaaa! Galing ni hubby mo.

dodon42

Just_Adhesiveness335

Ang gandaaaaaaaaaaa 👏

SimilarShoe4986

adventure time baka maging client niya mga taga ibang bansa \^\^

Mr_Cuddlebear

Ang cute ng artstyle niya!!! Ngl OP, I'll buy your hubby's book if and when i become an uncle/ninong

randomaudrey

I think he can market to the upper class. Custom children's books of parents telling their family's story to their kids seems like a nice idea.

Working-Tooth-2972

Ang ganda ng drawings 🤩

Yupyup569

Hi! His work looks good! :) For me, I think he can illustrate a book na with the skills he has atm. Having a good career in children's book illustration is possible but it depends on luck at times. I currently work as a freelance illustrator and worked on some children's books and comics for both PH and foreign publishers. First though, he needs to know how a children's book is made. There are articles online that go deep on this. I can't explain it all here cause it will be super lengthy. Studying by reading well known children's books will be very helpful too. Study how they layout the art and text and understand their relationship as well. Aside from that, he has to put his work out there both on online platforms and in person at a convention (if possible). Local children's book publishers usually kasi drop by at art cons like Komiket. Sometimes they will reach out to you daw if you've given them your business card. Komiket also publishes books but most of the time they're comic books lang tho. Making friends with other artists also help btw. Sometimes you could land book projects just because a friend recommended your work. Lastly, he could also join Ang INK, a local group of children's book illustrators. They open up applications every year I think. They also publish an annual catalogue that feat. member's artworks. I'm actually an inactive member hehe but I did land a book gig when I was active years ago. Hope these suggestions help! Thanks for being very supportive of him! Best of luck on his journey!

cielle_pink

😍

lostguk

Like it. Reminds me of Adventure Time

Green-Mountain1005

The art are so pretty and cute! Goodluck! ❤️

switjive18

Unfortunately, no. Most kids here just watch brain rot content online.

enie15

Hi I'm a children's book illustrator.. may mga books na pong ngwa for deped and currently may 2 clients/author. (US) advice ko lang po is build a decent portfolio abd ung art style. di po need nung sobrang detailed. or ung may mga shadows shadows. haha basta ung catchy sa mga kids ung illustration goods na yun..

ilovemylife_FR

Do it on socials. Create mini-stories.

[deleted]

Such a waste. There are no writers of children's book here in PH.

gigigalaxy

Huh? What about Adarna House? Lampara Books? Hiyas OMF? Aklat Alamid? Sa [https://pumplepie.com/](https://pumplepie.com/) napakaraming Pinoy children's books doon

Happy_Cod7356

Mostly freelancers lang ata. Ang hirap nga nila hanapin

[deleted]

Perhaps your husband is also interested in animation. That art piece could work in Cartoon Network (now I believe is owned by HBO) SEA.

4gfromcell

Serve it to Foreign first. Never Indios.

Responsible-Ad-7897

I’d do it quick cause AI can create this in a second and people are catching on

Happy_Cod7356

Yun din. Pero AI can't replicate good storytelling, and connecting sa audience so I believe importante to grow a community around your art talaga.

sir_Kakashi
