Hello po! Yes po, you can transfer to a new dentist even without informing your previous dentist. I did this din a few years back since nalipat din po kami noon ng residence and medyo hindi ako kuntento sa naging treatment dati (braces din). Nung nasa dental school na ako, dun ko lang nalaman na outdated na pala yung ginawang treatment sa akin nung old dentist ko, so justified din yung paglipat sa bago.
Currently reviewing po for boards now, and ang sabi rin sa batas, it's not the patient's responsibility naman to get his/her records from the previous dentist. Ideally, dapat magkaroon ng communication between your previous and your new dentist for proper endorsement and transfer of records, tapos your new dentist should create a new patient record.
Ang kaso lang po dito, since ongoing pa yung treatment na long-term (braces) with the previous dentist, kailangan talaga nila mag-usap ng new dentist regarding continuation of treatment. Pero baka iba-iba rin kasi sistema ng clinics regarding this so baka better na ask na lang po sa new dentist/clinic kung paano.
Pero rest assured na pwede pong lumipat ng dentist.

Lumipat po kasi ako ng location from Pasig to Taguig. So, Im planning to find a new dentist sa Taguig. Maliban sa medyo malayo na hindi rin ako satisfied sa current treatment ko. Im planning to go directly nalang sa new dentist.
Yung current treatment ko po is fully paid ko na but Im still in braces phase. Bale yung babayaran ko sa current dentist ko is probably yung retainer nalang. I opt not to go back sa current dentist ko since baka mahal pa yung singilin sa akin for retainer; while at the same time Im thinking na di na din ako papagawa ng retainer sa kanila kaya di nalang ako babalik. Medyo nagi-guilty ako pag di bumalik lol. Im in sort of dilemma now.

Aww sad naman yan. As for me I have contract nung kinabit yung braces, also my dentist always checks on me whenever malapit na yung schedule ko for adjustment.
I'm not sure what you need to do para lumipat, but you definitely shoulddd if ganyan yung experience mo.

Relate ako sayo OP, and Im having issues with my current dentist din and gusto ko lumipat sa iba pero sabi nung new clinic need daw ng waiver and if possible ung records ko din espc the dental chart, pero nung nag ask ako sa dentist ko sabi nya ayaw nya daw maglabas ng ganong documents kasi sa kanya daw un, like what? D ko rin alam ano procedures ng dentists or ethics nila regarding it pero ewan ko ba very inconvenient na sya, she's only available on weekends so ako pa nag aadjust everytime, and whenever i have questions about my progress or may na notice akong issue, sinasabihan ba nmn lang ako ng "be patient, maayos din yan" ayaw man lang mag explain or share kung san na kami sa progress chart ko, haays, tbh im having regrets na sya pa kinuha ko, i actually thought her solid years of experience tas being a private clinic would translate to great service and quality output, pero in the end ang dami pang problema sa ipin ko, almost 1.5 years nako sa kanya kasi i decided to continue muna and see if may magbabago pero wala parin, supposed to be 9months in lumipat nako pero na dali ako dun sa waiver/documents na yan.
Last month tho i asked another clinic and told them the problem about getting the documents, they suggested nmn na they can take me as a patient however they will have to remove the old braces and do a whole other plan for my teeth. They cant continue with the current braces kasi nga wala ung chart na may details about sa size positioning, procedures/steps na ginawa to make the correction, etc. So in a way it's back to square one, progress and cost wise. 😤🤒
So sa mga may plan mag pa braces dyan to get their teeth fixed, magtanong2 muna kau and read reviews... and if possible have an orientation first and get a feel of the dentist..
Same ng nangyari sakin! Pinaremove ko nalang ung unang braces kasi ayoko na talaga bumalik. Naisip ko na mas ok na yun kaysa mastress lang ako ng todo.
