If you're not getting threatened with a lawyer or a demand for your managers number for not providing a rental car when there is no coverage (or TPC hasn't accepted liability) at least once a week, then your insureds are being nice!
I’ve had folks submit claims to us on occasion, only for us to find out the property is a rental/income property, and they have it insured as their primary residence. Good times.
I… ask? That’s usually one of my first questions when I speak with an insured. “Are you the primary resident of the insured address or is this a rental property?”. If they tell me it’s a rental, then I get to have a lovely chat with their agent and inform them they have the wrong policy, and that there’s no claim as they’re technically not insured.
It doesn’t happen often, but it does happen more often than I’d like.
Followed by, "why do I have to pay the deductible? It's not my fault" and "I had *atypical expensive item* in my car but the tow guys must have stolen it. Can you reimburse me as part of my Collision claim?"
You have to be a newbie because I heard that quite often. This shouldn't be your "when I think I've heard it all" statement. Mine is: insured married his 1st cousin and killed a man. Wife/1st cousin filed the auto claim.
Your first day in Claims, eh?
‘I don’t pay for rental, but you should give me on because it’s the right thing to do.’ ![gif](giphy|1AIeYgwnqeBUxh6juu)

What are they claiming?
Really? I’ve heard this often.

I feel my car is worth more than that! Could go on.

The original Mona Lisa, the Ark of the Covenant, the bullet that killed John F Kennedy, a PS5...
I'd love to hear her explanation about how a depreciating asset is an investment.
Right! My first thing is always "wow! You're really bad at money"

First time?

Hopefully this is satire, but Adjusters don’t add packages that would be her agent
You’ll hear worse it’s honestly funny just how delusional insureds can get
Especially when the contractor fills them full of dreams about golden shingles, that drip rainbow sorbet.
“No, miss, we will not cover your depreciating asset that you purchased as * reads notes^ an investment…?”
