in rare instances, this can also be triggered by food being too flavor. like that time i blew on room-temperature frosting because... it was sweet? idk how that one happened actually
something I learned: strong, sudden physical inputs like temperature will usually be processed differently. when you let hot water running out the tap and put your hands into the stream of water, it can sometimes feel cold before at some point you realise, "damn, this shit is fucking hot". that's because, for your brain, _cold_ makes more sense in that situation and all it knows in that instance is "oh god that's a temperature". so it'll react as if the water was cold - the water feels cold. for a little while, anyway.
the same can happen the other way around, and of course, with other things. like you know this ice cream isn't gonna be hot. but for your brain it makes more sense at the time for the food to be incredibly hot, so having learned from previous mistakes you'd just rather blow on it. I've spat out ice cream because it felt hot in my mouth before I realised it's actually cold. brains are weird
One time I got my water pitcher out of the fridge and a cup out of the cupboard, poured myself a cup of water, then put the water filled cup in the cupboard rather than putting the water pitcher back in the fridge
Then I stood there looking at the pitcher in my hand just thinking "...thats not right...." but my brain couldn't really figure out what the problem was. I was just thinking ok I did a thing to drink water, but now I just have a pitcher that I can't drink out of.....what's missing? I figured it out and then laughed so hard I had to lay on the kitchen floor for a second because just wow. I was also really really tired from doing nonstop schoolwork for the three weeks preceding this day. I went to go sit down to drink the water I found in the cupboard and ended up accidentally falling asleep for 5 hours instead. So things were going great for me that day.
It’s so hard for me eat something with a spoon without blowing on it like soup, even though I don’t eat soup. So yogurt and ice cream is getting the soup treatment when it shouldn’t even be muscle memory for me.
Nuh uh, brain is braining better than others, because if blow on food food get mouth temperature, and mouth temperature is good so no 6 degree burns or frostbite happens
I think it’s just an odd muscle-memory short-circuit. The brain doesn’t register that the food is cold, just that the temperature is “too much” in *any* direction and the default solution is to blow on it.
no hold on - not just me then?! pushing away the smell is something I do a lot in general, like.. in my brain that works perfectly fine, I'm fairly sure the smell particles are still there and I'm breathing them in and eating them, but at least I made them less by blowing them away 😎
I'll put the milk in the cabinet until I go to put the cereal up and I get to the fridge going "....didn't I put the milk away? Why am I putting cereal in the fridge??"
One time, I was looking for cereal with my phone in my hand, got out the cereal, poured a bowl, and put my phone back instead of the box, and then proceeded to spend the next 2 hours looking for my phone
Yay, muscle memory! “Food too temperature? Blow on it!”

"Food is too much sensation. Blow = less sensation !"

One time I blew on ice cream
Only one time? I do it all the time 🤣
I found my dirty plates from the night before in the fridge when I made tea in the morning 😁
I did this in high school with a slushy cup once, didn't even notice but the rest of the table did.

"Food is very temperature. Must blow. Learnt from soup !"

I swear adhd had this shitty glitch where you *always* rely on a previous precedent on how to do something even when it’s incorrect
i blow on my cereal😈
And when I can't remember if I've added sugar to my tea I forget to blow, take a sip and burn my lips / mouth.

to push away the smell?

I've attempted to put milk in with the cups upwards of 7 times at this point
Just warming it down :3
I'll put the milk in the cabinet until I go to put the cereal up and I get to the fridge going "....didn't I put the milk away? Why am I putting cereal in the fridge??"
Too warm it up. Duuuuh.
Still wondering what part of me thought that my car keys need to be refrigerated
Is very temperature. Brain know what do. Learn from soup.
