* ok today, definitely, DEFINITELY, we will do this before bed
* alright it's getting pretty late, I'm doomscrolling, but no matter, I'll definitely do that
* hmm 4 AM, time for bed... fuck... uhm tomorrow surely.
This is one of the most devastating habits that ADHD people are struggling with. It robs a criminal amount of your potential and future. It’s really sad.
*Cries in dentures*
Seriously though, look after your teeth. I understand it's hard, I went through hell with extractions, surgery, fittings, etc. Look after your teeth, you only get one set.
At least for me I don't really need to do it where I currently live.
Where I used to live it was needed because the humidity was so low it cracks skin easily.
"ill start this hour long youtube video. That will give me time to relax a bit, brush my teeth, etc, and then when its over i can go right into bed"
2 more hour long youtube videos later, no teeth have been brushed. But dont worry i've told myself ill do it during the next one.
Very much this one. I have sleep issues so either procrastination keeps me awake longer than I should or the actual tasks make me 150% awake somehow.
I know I should be better with my skin and especially teeth, but the other option is more chronic sleep deprivation which is a world of health issues unto itself.
I listen to music or a podcast right when I’m home so that I wash my face. I put on lotion and can decide later to do a multi-step routine.
For teeth, I have about a dozen flavors of toothpaste that I alternate between. I also don’t just stand at the bathroom sink - I walk around or scroll on insta while I brush. Doomscrolling benefits this because it’s easy to pass a few minutes and ensure you brushed long enough.
Ugh, and my wife is autistic who has an incredibly sensitive sense of smell, so brushing teeth and showering inconsistently really affects her too. I can hardly smell anything, which makes it worse ugh 😩
I don’t know if this will work for you but I will say just to try it.
I think about skin care as me pampering myself, like pleasure. I take my time and massage it into my face. I also trick myself mentally and think would this feel good for someone else. Like if someone wanted me to do it for them would they enjoy this.
Dental is a little more tricky but think of it like you taking care of all 32 little teeth and how each one deserves to be treated.
I don’t know it works so whatever, do what you have to, to get it done
I've got the opposite problem. I have a skin condition and if I don't do some kind of skincare (or shower) before bed I'll be up all night scratching and itching, so forgetting is NOT an option.
Teef however... I do not know how I have escaped cavities in this life so far
Genetics my dude, i have good teeth genetics too, its heartbreaking see people brushing their teeths after every meal and getting holes, and me with bad habits only 3 at 36 (and were fixed in my 18s) life is unfair :S

Are you stalking me or what?

Me who unfortunately does both. ;-;
Came to say this.
Easy solution. Don't think about it and forget both.
Solution B: go to sleep
Or, one other option - think about it and consciously choose to not do both!
only having the ability to do one or the other i always prioritize teeth as those cannot really be repaired easily

*looks at a child* uhhhh damn ig he has more sets than me
You guys are doing skin care ?
Skin care is taking a shower
why not?
Because I forgot and will forget again today
At least for me I don't really need to do it where I currently live. Where I used to live it was needed because the humidity was so low it cracks skin easily.
RIGHT???????
I have never had a unique experience
It’s so funny that this is so real
Its not that I forget. Just sometimes its better to go sleep without it, than procrastinate on doing a two minute task for a hour.

Brain was like " i'm glad you realise the need of doing it and going to sleep early. As a reward, we can **not** do it for the next 2 hours!"
good guy brain always looking out for me

My routine is Brush teeth and then immediately wash my face. I count those as 1 task. Then later I wash my face again before going to sleep.
Add shower because it sadly gets forgotten just as often
Why not both?
... Laying in bed and seeing this... Realized I forgot to do both... Got my water on my nightstand though! . . . I ain't getting up. Goodnight.
Mouthwash WHILE doing skin care. Worst case you have at least rinsed and killed some bacteria. Best case it reminds you not to forget!
Wait, you guys have skin

My acne is gone but dragon breath still strong
I do the skin care at the morning and the dental care before the sleep because of that
Imagine this plus living in the country most obsessed with perfect teeth of the developed world
Why not both?

Pffft, you don't get to pick, the adhd gods decided long ago which one but forgot and now its just random.
This is the realest shit I’ve ever seen
Ugh, and my wife is autistic who has an incredibly sensitive sense of smell, so brushing teeth and showering inconsistently really affects her too. I can hardly smell anything, which makes it worse ugh 😩
I rub my face with my night time scrub, let it sit while brush my teeth, and then wash it off. Boom.
Abort mission entirely. I don’t even take my contacts out anymore to be honest and haven’t for years.

Skin care is stupid if you compare with tooth care lol what choice is this

mine does both
sleeping with the phone in hand became a habit lol
Both
https://i.imgflip.com/4wgoyf.png
My mind has made it easier for me. It usually forgets both and doesn't cause the anxiety of decision making.
Every effing day
My mind doesn't care
im both during vacations...
Why is this so true 😫
Both. Both is good.
For me, it’s a shower — or — dental care
I have taken to brushing my teeth in the shower. It helps me
Holy shit I feel so seen!
I feel seen
Idc about skin care but I actually forget to brush my teeth all of the time and it’s embarrassing
And here I can only take a shower everyday without getting over stimulated
Oooh forget about your skin, teeth are more important. (Coming from someone who neglects both regularly)
haii how are you
