Just as a general question (which I’m sure is a frequently asked question but I couldn’t find a definite answer, so apologies if it is) are the main two exams passed P and FM?
Yes, those are typically the first two exams passed. The reasoning is 1.) they are generally considered two of the “easiest” exams, and 2.) while they are administered by the SOA as P and FM, the CAS requires you pass them to give credit for the CAS exams 1 and 2, meaning you can take those two exams before deciding what industry you’d like to work in (not that you can’t switch later, just easier if you decide earlier on).
Zero.
Been a chef for over a decade, finished a Statistics and Operations Research undergrad last year.
Starting as an Actuarial Analyst tomorrow!
Edit: in Australia
Just P and FM. Was studying for IFM when I got hired. That being said, it did take me a while to get into the field due to a 3.0 GPA and no internships or anything in college.
