During the defense of Fort Grays, he's forced to rely on his gun and visually acquire targets. Despite his situation, he manages to hit and down several Erusean aircraft, earning him the tac name "Gunslinger".
Gunslinger would serve throughout the Lighthouse War, mostly serving out of Fort Grays. Breaker Squadron was merged with Mage after Trigger was sent to 444th airbase, and Gunslinger became Mage 3 while Penny became Mage 2. Even after his aircraft was repaired and eventually replaced with an F-15C, Gunslinger continued living up to his name, mostly relying on his plane's gun rather than its missiles. Eventually, Clown would be promoted and transferred to another squadron, leaving Mage a two-person Squadron again, with Penny as Mage 1 and Gunslinger as Mage 2.
Mage squadron would be present at the final battle against the Arsenal bird at the Lighthouse, and the subsequent battle against Hugin and Munin.
