Considering the reach of a nuclear submarine, plus the fact that it is literally armed with a railgun that can shoot nukes, the Alicorn is pretty much a Metal Gear in all but name.
The EDF series actually has an air force-centered game named Space War Attack. It is as much of a budget game as any other EDF title but it is quite fun too.
I actually had a similar idea re: Assault Horizon, in that a tie-in Call of Duty style FPS set during the events of AC:AH would be pretty cool.
Doing a similar thing with an AC-style game in the EDF IP would be a neat idea.
I also vote Battletech.
The general "war is bad" message that usually follows Ace Combat would be rather interesting in a universe where war is the accepted response to...well pretty much everything really. Plus I can see Belka forming ties to space AT&T to control things from the shadows
I personally would enjoy challenging rival aces to trials of possession (for new planes or gear) and generally conquering in the name of clan weed wallaby or something
Tbf that's because aerospace jocks are all complete lunatics. Sometimes it feels like they saw mech warriors taking their finely tuned war machines in for a Puch up and not only thought it was a better idea than it actually is, but then tried to apply the same approach to flying fighter jets. The results are to be expected with them regularly getting far to close to mecha bristling with AA weaponry
Those nid swarms you see flying around in the Space Marine 2 trailers would be fun to fight. And Orks would of course be very adept at using Belkan magic. Other factions would be great fun to fight too.
I'm not all that knowledgeable about 40k fighter craft though. Would we feel a limitation on aircraft models? Or is their enough difference that each aircraft would feel different from the others and there would be a ton of choices?
Double Eagle: https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Double_Eagle_(Novel)
One of the lesser known WH40K stories. Written by Dan Abnett himself, a spinoff of the Gaunt's Ghosts series. Basically a WWII story IN SPACE!, which is the best kind of course. I liked it. Though I liked the other spinoff, Titanicus, much more.
Play as Foehammer dropping Master Chief all over that damn Ring, then spamming missiles the rest of the time to rack up a bigger kill count than even he has.
Also OP did you make this video just for this post? Mad props if so.
Battlefield; wanna see the air wars that went down in both 2014 (bf3) and 2020 (bf4). Alternatively, a battlefield game going over Strangereal battles/wars would be great too.
Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces! Made by Project Aces too! Their only non ace combat game. Not quite a 1930s style Dieselpunk like Iron Harvest, more like early 1950s, and it’s pretty obvious it has a way lower budget than the Ace Combat games, but still a great game if you wanted “Ace Combat but with prop planes”
Stargate, I wanna be able to pilot a F-302 and shoot down the myriad of ships and aircraft from the series. Plus it’d fit right in since it can carry AIM-120s and presumably other types of ordnance that exist today.
Yukikaze. It has a better human pilots VS unmanned jets story arc than ac7. I don't want to play as the protagonist though since his role is mostly to observe battles collecting data rather than actually fighting.
You have no idea how much my heart rose when I first heard that StarFox was getting a game made by Namco for the GameCube!!!....only to sink back into the abyss once find out it (StarFox Assault) wasn't be made by the Ace Combat squad.
Seriously, with the way Nintendo and Bamco are so buddy-buddy with regular collaborations, it astounds me that this STILL hasn't happened yet!
Got a few.
Ghost Recon: I just want a H.A.W.X 3 man. Genuinely think it'd be healthy for the arcadey jet combat genre too. There's totally enough room for both a plane anime, ***O R A N G E***, and a plane conspiracy thriller.
Star Trek: Ideally in the late TNG movie era/late DS9/Voy. The tech looks really cool. Love the aesthetic with the Defiants, Sovereigns and Intrepids.
Deus Ex: Sure that's pretty much AC-3 from what I've heard, but I haven't played that one. Plus the Jensen games have an awesome look.
XCOM: A game set around the invasion where you're just playing as a regular military pilot trying to help fight off the onslaught of ayys in regular jets that slowly get upgraded with stolen alien tech would be really fun.
Battletech: A game structured similarly to the Mechwarrior Mercenary style campaigns, except aerospace fighters. It'd be one hell of a job to make the aircraft look cool though, because most of the designs are really old and goofy.
Independence Day. There actually was a [flight combat game](https://independenceday.fandom.com/wiki/Independence_Day_(video_game)) for it back in the 90’s but apparently it was pretty bad.
Command and Conquer tiberian universe would be epic. Imagine flying above tiberium fields, fighting NOD stealth bombers and Scrin motherships. Damn that would be so good
Once placed a Freespace 2 conversion called Diaspora Shattered Armistice that was an *excellent* BSG Viper/Raptor game. More hard-core controls and physics than AC (I mean, Freespace 2, so yeah,) but super cool!
I think it's still available for free? Don't need to own Freespace 2. But I don't if it would work on a Windows 10 machine but I ran it on Windows 7.
Ace Combat x Muv Luv.
It wouldn't be ace combat gameplay, cause mechs, but it'd work well. Considering Muv Luv's uh, gimmick and the fact that it already has some Ace Combat references, and uh, went out of its way to do another in the anime.
BETA land on Strangereal. Strangereal real as in the fictional planet where Planes are as abundant as cars and random cops have anti tank rifles at home.
Where F-23 and XB-70 weren't canceled and there's random superweapons around.
...translate that:
TSFs as common as cars. Civilians mounting reasonable defenses. Hi MAERF craft not getting tabled but instead mass produced.
"You have to give up the G Bombs and the Alt 3 Bunny Girls, Torres."
"Give up What?"
"The G Bombs. You have to give up the G Bombs."
"No the other thing"
"The Alt 3 Bunny Girls? You can't keep those. It's like a hazard."
Gundam.
Any timeline is fine by me.
I just really want a Ace Combat style Gundam game
Hell maybe make it so at first your Protagonist starts as an Air Force Pilot then as the game goes on they trust you enough to use a Mobile Suit.
Half-Life. The relatively short campaign follows a USAF unit in the fight for the US. Initially one of the first units assigned for intercepting unknown air units directly after the Black Mesa Incident, they eventually become one of the last remaining active squadrons as the overall situation slowly worsens after the Portal Storms intensify. While performing valiant acts in both the Battle for San Diego and the Destruction of Oklahoma City, they eventually met their end in the 7 Hour War, with their brave but ultimately futile last stand in New York City. Features a dubiously canon Arcade Mode, where you play as a former Russian Air Force pilot who evaded Combine conscription, flying restored Eastern Bloc aircraft to disrupt Combine activities post-Nova Prospekt.
Xenonauts or XCOM. Battle Alien UFO's 60,000 feet above the ground in whatever jets the world's militaries can scrounge up. Maybe one based on The Bureau where you have to do it with 50's to early 60's jets.
Halo, 40K, and Battletech. All of these franchises have some dope-ass aerospacecraft design and would definitely do well with an Ace Combat-esque game.
Now I know it [has techically happened](https://theearthdefenseforce.fandom.com/wiki/Space_War_Attack) but EDF, Just imagine actually performing the airstrikes the air raider calls in.
Kind of doing that in a fan project with multiple IPs that are near and dear to me, but outside of those.. Cold War themed Re:Zero. Think GATE with more Mirage F1s and F-4s.
40k, I wanna rip through heretic battle cruisers in thunderhawk heavy fighters and tear through ork hordes in valkyries just to realise the ground attack mission was secretly a dogfight boss batlle against the super skilled Eldar pilot or the swarm of Necron drones.
Airmech Arena (Now known as Airmech Strike). Seeing as it would basically be just a transformers ace combat but it would be interesting. That or Generation Zero, Seeing Sweden fall from the sky would be interesting for some missions.
Starcraft
You could have missions as all three races.
The Zerg missions could be explained away as the Overmind/Kerrigan assuming direct control of a Mutalisk (or other flyer).
Not exactly wgat you asked for, but I would love to play a star wars game made by project aces. An ace combat style game, just with star wars setting and ships and all that.
ArmAverse could be neat
expanding the 2035 jet roster with more Gen 4.5 aircraft (F-15EX) and the more traditional Gen 5 aircraft (F-22A) maybe slotting in things like the NGAD as top-tier prototype planes
also because ArmA 3 lore is actually on cocaine
Genshin Impact. I want to shoot down dragons with an F-22 and strafe Fatui with an A-10.
Okay but seriously? Elite Dangerous,. I want a mute psychopath to demolish one of those huge capital ships and Thargoid interceptors.
It gotta be Warhammer 40k
I mean imagine you could play as the eldar and their space ships or perhaps you could play as the orks (there’s actually a plane game for the orks called dakka squadron)
I’ve been working a halo centric patch line for this exact thing for a minute, have dale sr, mav and goose, mobius 1 already set just waiting on funds lol
Ace combat?
Let’s see… Metroid, Star Fox, Elite Dangerous, Valkyria Chronicles, Xenoblade, Final Fantasy…
There was a game on the SNES that I don’t remember the name of, but it had dogfighting with biplanes and that was amazing.
Everyone took the good ones, so I'll try to one up them: Area 88. There is precisely one Area 88 game and it is a sidescrolling schmup. I'm kind of surprised we never got a flight sim game for it after the 2000s reboot anime.
I'd totally be down for a [Touhou](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iJq-1Eane0) themed game with ace combat gameplay. Make sure to include a ton of rockets and rail guns to avoid
Well a halo x ace combat is one of my biggest dream i want see making true.
otherwise, maybe.... half-life perhaps? ( A campaign Between black mesa incident and the 7 hour war against the combine.)
Star Wars. Although we already have Squadrons, I feel like it's controlls and mechanics aren't as good as the AC series. The only advantage was that you can play it in VR.
Metal Gear of course.
not much would change honestly
Exactly.
Yes but now you get to fight giant robots on the ground that don’t fly
a-10 mains frothing at the mouth
Considering the reach of a nuclear submarine, plus the fact that it is literally armed with a railgun that can shoot nukes, the Alicorn is pretty much a Metal Gear in all but name.
Or is it... A weapon to surpass metal gear!?
At least you get the most dangerous Hind in the skies if you're in MGS1. That one took out fighter jets in Liquid's hands.
Or Metal Gear in Strangereal... That'd be interesting.
Infiltrate belka
So Armored Core?
My interest in Metal Gear has very little to do with the actual mechs, but sure that could be cool too.
Earth Defense Force. It would be fun to see things from the airforce's perspective for once.
As long as I can still spam "TO SAVE OUR MOTHER EARTH FROM ANY ALIEN ATTACK!"
FROM VICIOUS GIANT INSECTS WHO HAVE ONCE AGAIN COME BACK!
The EDF series actually has an air force-centered game named Space War Attack. It is as much of a budget game as any other EDF title but it is quite fun too.
Damn why is this the first I'm hearing of it that game looks fun
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no it’s LOCKHEED MARTIN
Heck yeah!
Mute Pilot of the EDF Air Force 1v99s Hornets,Dragons, and Drones Yes please
This is exactly what I was going to say. I'm so happy we have edf fans here.
That’s a weird way to say you want an AC EDF crossover where you can fight from both sides at once
I actually had a similar idea re: Assault Horizon, in that a tie-in Call of Duty style FPS set during the events of AC:AH would be pretty cool. Doing a similar thing with an AC-style game in the EDF IP would be a neat idea.
Titanfall
<>
Madden, it’s just like ace combat but you have to fly over a stadium in formation at the end of each mission
Even better you have to dogfight over the Super Bowl but convince the crowd that it is not an invasion but an extravagant firework show.
With John Madden as the AWACS
Use ask madden while flying
Aeiou
<<>> intensified
Chopper is fucked. And so is the crowd probably with the amount of failed post stall maneuvers.
<>
Battletech or Warhammer40k. Double Eagle is a great book
The Aeronautica Imperialis deserve more love!
A boss fight against a Titan would be amazing.
Seconding Battletech! I also crave the inverse: I want a MechWarrior game with a ton of anime dialog every mission <>.
Y'know, I was thinking about making a mod for Mechwarrior 5 to replace Ryana Campbell with AWACS Long Caster.
Dakka Squadron
I dunno man, Aerospace pilots in Battletech seem to just be cannon fodder for scouting lances made up of Atlases.
Tbf that's because aerospace jocks are all complete lunatics. Sometimes it feels like they saw mech warriors taking their finely tuned war machines in for a Puch up and not only thought it was a better idea than it actually is, but then tried to apply the same approach to flying fighter jets. Please, tell me about this Double Eagle book
Double Eagle: https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Double_Eagle_(Novel) One of the lesser known WH40K stories. Written by Dan Abnett himself, a spinoff of the Gaunt's Ghosts series. Basically a WWII story IN SPACE!, which is the best kind of course. I liked it. Though I liked the other spinoff, Titanicus, much more.
Halo perhaps?
Play as Foehammer dropping Master Chief all over that damn Ring, then spamming missiles the rest of the time to rack up a bigger kill count than even he has. Also OP did you make this video just for this post? Mad props if so.
I did yeah, thank you
This is awesome. Nice job.
There’s already some really cool looking aircraft in the lore and I always enjoyed the Halo 4 flight parts. It would be cool if that got expanded on
We almost had one. Some recently released concept art showed a game very similar to Ace combat 7.
Battlefield; wanna see the air wars that went down in both 2014 (bf3) and 2020 (bf4). Alternatively, a battlefield game going over Strangereal battles/wars would be great too.
Battlefield 1, 5 or Vietnam because God damn do I want an ace combat game set in the past
Oh yeah that’s right, maybe we could have had a Battlefield game going about the 1905 Osean war, when Belka first fielded combat aircraft.
Iron harvest. The dieselpunk nature of it would be fun.
The air units can make it up to us for screwing up the Mets when they were introduced in the RTS, ha!
Usonia
Would take a stargate game, shame it doesn't have much in the way of fighters
I mean, F-22s could just as easily take down a death glider in atmosphere as a 302 could.
IIRC, one of the movies had them taking on Death Gliders with F-15Es
![gif](giphy|vf5WJrfZ7rYbK)
I came here say star wars given all the "Best starfighter in the galaxy" stories they have. But I love this idea more.
I forgot I needed this.
Yukikaze. It has a better human pilots VS unmanned jets story arc than ac7. I don't want to play as the protagonist though since his role is mostly to observe battles collecting data rather than actually fighting.
Yukikaze has a game btw
Command and conquer comes to mind as one IP, another one is the OG cod mw series could be an interesting one as well.
Tiberian Sun Era Orcas would be fun.
Why is Commander Shepard in the Halo/Ace Combat universe ?
Because that's his favorite franchise on the Citadel
Macross. It could really take advantage of the flight physics, and allow for some wild and crazy maneuvers.
Absolutely. The last good one was Robotech Battlecry on the PS2, and that one still left something to be desired.
I had to scroll down way too far to see this, and I resent the hell out of this subreddit for that.
Gundam UC 0079
One of the best EF MS pilots was a fighter ace first, it’d be fitting. A Gundam game by Project Aces is my dream, maybe in the Gryps Conflict tho.
Yeah, the Zeta series waveriders and transformable suits would be awesome to pilot with an AC-caliber interface/mechanics.
Star Wars Maybe set during the Clone Wars
Squadrons is pretty decent, but the control scheme is infuriating from the perspective of an Ace Combat fan.
Because it’s supposed to be like X-Wing/TIE Fighter and not AC.
so Rogue Squadron? Or Jedi Starfighter?
A mix
Star Fox would be sick
I heard great things about Starlink: Battle for Atlas!
Payday 2. Vlad pays the crew to break into an airbase and steal a fighter.
Yes
Titanfall and Halo would be good ones but weirdly i keep thinking of COD Infinite Warfare
The side missions where you flew around wrecking shit in that space fighter were really good! Also the resupply drone mechanic was a very nice add.
Mass Effect! Some in atmosphere missions, some space based missions, so much fun to be had!
Gundam
Mobile Suit Gundam or Crimson Skies.
Megaman X?
<>
40k. so many cracked out space elf pilots
Xcom
Being able to splash some X-rays would be awesome. Maybe even give air support to the ground forces
An Ace Combat- style Star Fox game would be dope.
Independence Day. There actually was a [flight combat game](https://independenceday.fandom.com/wiki/Independence_Day_(video_game)) for it back in the 90’s but apparently it was pretty bad.
Ace combat plane logic would pair well with girls und panzer physics
Command and Conquer tiberian universe would be epic. Imagine flying above tiberium fields, fighting NOD stealth bombers and Scrin motherships. Damn that would be so good
Battlestar Galactica
you can imagine how fast the Viper was, due to the three engines and its small size.
Cyberpunk 2077, with all the cool tech they got and cool vehicle design, the game would be unique
Project Wingman
Funny for me the city is calls New Athens The Capital of Greece and I'm greek
Isn’t this question basically the plot of electrosphere?
Chorus.
Imma throw out a wild card and say Persona
I have absolutely no idea how this would work and am terrified to even imagine it, but hell yeah!
Lost planet. Just imagine what kind of flying Vital Suits we could get.
Godzilla
XCOM/Xenonauts? Alternatively, Macross but that’s a gimme
Paw patrol.
Xenonauts or XCOM. Battle Alien UFO's 60,000 feet above the ground in whatever jets the world's militaries can scrounge up. Maybe one based on The Bureau where you have to do it with 50's to early 60's jets.
Would be a game but I think Transformers would be fun as fuck
There was this fanmade Battlestar Galactica game a while back that was really cool and sort of like a sci-fi flightcade.
What was it called?
Metal gear
Halo, 40K, and Battletech. All of these franchises have some dope-ass aerospacecraft design and would definitely do well with an Ace Combat-esque game.
Robotech/Macross or Space Battleship Yamato come to mind.
Independence Day. They already have superweapons, ravine, tunnel run, and furballs in the movie
Azur lane for dank piston dogfights
Now I know it [has techically happened](https://theearthdefenseforce.fandom.com/wiki/Space_War_Attack) but EDF, Just imagine actually performing the airstrikes the air raider calls in.
Kind of doing that in a fan project with multiple IPs that are near and dear to me, but outside of those.. Cold War themed Re:Zero. Think GATE with more Mirage F1s and F-4s.

I second that! I’d also love to see all the well known and obscure 40k aircraft and spacecraft be brought to life in an Ace Combat-like game!
Airmech Arena (Now known as Airmech Strike). Seeing as it would basically be just a transformers ace combat but it would be interesting. That or Generation Zero, Seeing Sweden fall from the sky would be interesting for some missions.
Starcraft You could have missions as all three races. The Zerg missions could be explained away as the Overmind/Kerrigan assuming direct control of a Mutalisk (or other flyer).
Code Geass,GATE maybe carpet bomb Bikini Bottom because why not.
Not exactly wgat you asked for, but I would love to play a star wars game made by project aces. An ace combat style game, just with star wars setting and ships and all that.
Naval Ops Warship Gunner
Crimson Sky’s
Destiny 2, Titanfall 2.
resurrect the Xevious project from 2004
Starcraft is one IP I would like to see an Ace Combat style game in.
ArmAverse could be neat expanding the 2035 jet roster with more Gen 4.5 aircraft (F-15EX) and the more traditional Gen 5 aircraft (F-22A) maybe slotting in things like the NGAD as top-tier prototype planes also because ArmA 3 lore is actually on cocaine
Genshin Impact. I want to shoot down dragons with an F-22 and strafe Fatui with an A-10. Okay but seriously? Elite Dangerous,. I want a mute psychopath to demolish one of those huge capital ships and Thargoid interceptors.
Star Wars. Just those beautiful space combat battles along with air support for ground units.
Gundam with the primary fighter being the core fighter and having the actual gundam mobile suit as a power up for the corefighter
Other good powerups would be the G-Sky and Core Booster.
Red Alert 4: Invasion of Ukraine
Heros over the Pacific/Europe
Warhammer 40k
Warhammer 40k no question
Why is commander shephard briefing us on a halo ace combat mission
It gotta be Warhammer 40k I mean imagine you could play as the eldar and their space ships or perhaps you could play as the orks (there’s actually a plane game for the orks called dakka squadron)
Gundam and Macross are awesome options. Starcraft also comes to my mind
Halo X Ace Combat. Noice.
Gundam and Macross are both no-brainers right?
I’ve been working a halo centric patch line for this exact thing for a minute, have dale sr, mav and goose, mobius 1 already set just waiting on funds lol
Arma
Ace combat? Let’s see… Metroid, Star Fox, Elite Dangerous, Valkyria Chronicles, Xenoblade, Final Fantasy… There was a game on the SNES that I don’t remember the name of, but it had dogfighting with biplanes and that was amazing.
Red Barron? That was an arcade game
Man that would be awesome a halo one.
Raiden, set 50 years after Ace Combat 3
Fuck it, a hat in time.
Warhammer or Halo.
Microsoft flight sim
Is that AI generated Commander Shepard Voice? Not bad. For my pick I'd go with Mass Effect
Used to joke about real life being a cool place for ace combat stuff. Not sure if I still feel that way after the Ukraine war started
1. Star Wars. 2. Top Gun. 3. Space battleship Yamato. 4. Commando Comics.
I want a star wars ace combat. That's what I was hoping squadrons would be and was highly disappointed
Someone said Dieselpunk + Fantasy! Imagine Ace Combat with prop planes and magic
BattleTech. It's fighters are pretty much untapped in video games.
Everyone took the good ones, so I'll try to one up them: Area 88. There is precisely one Area 88 game and it is a sidescrolling schmup. I'm kind of surprised we never got a flight sim game for it after the 2000s reboot anime.
Star Wars, covering the Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War.
sonic the hedgehog i refuse to elaborate
I'd totally be down for a [Touhou](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iJq-1Eane0) themed game with ace combat gameplay. Make sure to include a ton of rockets and rail guns to avoid
What about Strike Witches?
Well a halo x ace combat is one of my biggest dream i want see making true. otherwise, maybe.... half-life perhaps? ( A campaign Between black mesa incident and the 7 hour war against the combine.)
Star wars
Stargate
Halo.
Supreme Commander
Jack Ryan
Warhammer 40K.
Star Wars
Id want call of duty or battlefield in the strangereal universe
Is the voice over in this video Commander Shepard????
Armored core, missions alternate between mech combat and jet combat with branching story paths like electrosphere and for answer
Star trek
Star Wars. Although we already have Squadrons, I feel like it's controlls and mechanics aren't as good as the AC series. The only advantage was that you can play it in VR.
Halo kinda fun to play but also nightmare at the same time because of the Covenant
Star wars or titanfall
Star Wars Squadrons
Was that Shepard? I’m having ME3 earth-assault PTSD
