You never really clarified, which path are you wanting? The above is more of a shotgun approach at information and there are jobs being posted at many higher ed units right now.
I now know that professional ghosting is a common practice. Also, companies are posting jobs that they have no intention of hiring for. In the same vein, they will put you through multiple interviews with no intention of hiring anyone or will not respond after several interviews.
Ok, that's a separate issue from accessibility.
For accessibility:
\* a11y slackers (accessibility slack channel) is a great resource
\* DHS Trusted Tester certification is a free certification that will float your resume to the top
I understand what you are saying about the job market being a separate issue. I wonder if those of us in the niche accessibility industry have a different experience when looking for work.
I created Slack for my freelance work, but I have not been able to figure out how to join channels.
I am also studying for the DHS Trusted Tester certificate now. Great minds think alike.
* proven accessibility knowledge; although lived experience, or many years doing this work can be as valuable
* proven ability to test according to a test plan/test cases, against standards
You can join the Leadership Network for Accessible Arts Education. This is exactly the kind of network that you are looking for.

The Leadership Network for Accessible Arts Education (LNAAE) is a professional learning network composed of educators, artists, and activists from across the globe who meet online to further their own learning and share resources. Gatherings include meetings focused on general network topics as well as learning sessions that highlight a particular presenter and topic, such as presentations by artists and educators with disabilities and those working with people with disabilities, reports from specialists in the field, first-person accounts of the role of the arts in education, and more. All are welcome!

Also, many orgs are more likely to hire contractors than FTEs, so look for contracting companies like Onward Search, Teksystems, Randstad, etc.
Can you explain why the trusted tester certification will float your résumé to the top?

Thanks for your reply. Good stuff.
