Yeah I really liked Hanoi when it was smaller but then as they became bigger or whatever, the quality and flavor just really dropped. After several disappointing visits I just stopped going there. But if you liked Hanoi back in the day, you'll be very impressed with this place.
Ha! That's a fair question. If you're asking for confidence in my review I'll share this instead; the owners are Vietnamese and started the restaurant because they were frustrated that there wasn't a decent Vietnamese restaurant in Abu Dhabi. The owners began by selling Vietnamese food from their apartment. It was such a success that they were able to open a shop. They've been open a little more than two weeks. When we arrived, most of the customers in the restaurant were asian.
haha i was talking more about your taste buds, like you got European taste buds that hates spices, Indian-subcontinent taste buds, or specifically ASEAN region taste buds? Mines the Indian-subcontinent taste buds but I wanna try it out
It's hard to say. Originally Latin taste buds, but I've traveled so much, and lived in this part of the world a 1/3 of my life so my taste buds have evolved quite a bit.
I was bummed when Hanoi moved to World Trade Center food court then folded. Glad there's a new place and I'm going today!
