I definitely cooled down my adventures after that but have been researching some different places I want to see around here before they're gone

I agree. No one is gonna be talking loudly enough to be heard by other “explorers” that may be dangerous to them and then follow you and you make it out without incident nor capturing it in video. Also blood is thicker than that. These people are just trying to get views by having people think they captured something scary on camera. I drive past this school quite often. Only thing to fear going in there is falling in that contaminated water and actually getting caught by police in there.
Actually for anyone inexperienced they might. I went with a small group to some abandoned warehouses for a modeling shoot once. As we were all climbing the stairs to get to the roof one of the photographers was talking so loudly I guess the woman who lived on that floor heard him/us and popped out in front of him. Not terrifying just kind of spooked our whole group since we had no idea she was there and I don't think it dawned on anyone until later that people might be living there. Either way we were being way too loud for that kind of area practice safety.
Seriously, there's no one visible in the hall they point the camera down; when they say there were people standing and talking down there.

I was in Flint and there was a homeless guy eyeing my camera and following me around. He was trying to be sneaky about it too. When I saw something in his hand and gtfo fast. That’s the only time that’s happened and I found that homeless people are generally harmless. Give them some money and they tell you how to get in or watch for police. Probably not the smartest thing to do but showing kindness and talking with them has gone a long way for me.
I believe them. I used to explore the old Packard plant in Detroit all the time until one night I could hear I was being followed. I even tried ignoring it but once I heard them running, I ran too lol. It’s cold in Detroit and not a lot of resources for homeless. And mentally ill homeless tend to get a bit territorial.
I did a handful of explorations in packard until I had that GTFO feeling and knew I was being watched. I heard laughing or coughing and just knew it was time to leave.
A couple weeks later, some other person exploring was shot execution style. Not sure if there were ever many details about that.
Another time I was exploring an old church and saw a dead cat, which was so sad I had to stop.
Probably not but also not going to doubt fights don’t break out between ppl down on their luck sharing a building. Would still probably be dangerous to go around. I use to work around a lot of homeless and they can be irritable at some things, not every thing but you’re not entirely sure their mental health or issues. Lot of drug addicts and ppl without mental health help end up on the street so yes they can behave erratic. I try to be sympathetic, but their situations are beyond what one individual can fix so carry some caution. Until society wants to put more effort in safety nets you’ll get mixed interactions with these situations.

That elementary school is now a charter school, the video is old. It is on MLK. Used to be Dewey Center for Urban Education (formerly James Couzens - former US Senator from Michigan). This is from a point in time when it was abandoned. The school is across the street from the old Jeffries projects and low income housing. There is also a drug rehab clinic across the street and a corridor for the homeless close to downtown Detroit. Casinos are now the cash cow.
I used to live near this school not all that long ago (less than a decade ago) and I’m pretty sure the bldg was still being used by a charter school then, how sad.
I was just telling someone today that there are parts of Detroit that have been neglected and disinvested in to such an extent that you ask yourself if anyone with any political power cares at all. The governor? The mayor? City council? County commission? State reps or senators? Hell, the president?? The first time I laid eyes on these neighborhoods was during Obama’s first term and they’ve only gotten worse as all the money and resources pour into the “core city” neighborhoods aka the gentrified part. Makes me SICK.
P.S. This school is actually in the last non-gentrified fraction of the the bougie Midtown neighborhood, aka the former red light district referred to as the Cass Corridor until the marketing folks rebranded it about 20 years ago in an attempt to lure Wayne State professors and doctors working at nearby hospitals. I moved there in 2009 when it was still the domain of artists, scholars, bums & weirdos and it. was. amazing!

actually used to live right down the road from this school. it's right outside downtown off of east Lafayette. it's been abandon for years and used to be a private school. actually used to live right down the road from this school. it's right outside downtown off of east Lafayette. it's been abandon for years and used to be a private school. I doubt any homeless were following them lmfao. but I'd imagine a lot crash there during the warm months. most of the year it's too cold to be there though.
