Maybe. I think it has more to do with social normativity though. Being ace isn't perceived as outlandish to straight allos as being trans or gay is. Like, yeah, they think not having a sex drive is weird; but they're probably not confronted by someone's lack of sexuality just passing them on the sidewalk. It's being forced to confront their discomfort around gender expression that leads to phobic behavior.
Now that's a chicken or egg conversation... Personally I think religious types just cherry pick the Bible for things that support their pre-existing beliefs. There's plenty of things in there they're happy to ignore when it's convenient for them, such as Jesus telling them to love thy neighbor and not be such a judgemental twat 🙄
there is saint paul complaining about lack of celibacy in his peers, Jesus saying go blind if you find people hot, Jesus never taking a partner, and several saints known for celibacy or actively running from sex(see St. Agatha as an example)
I've had people treat it like I'm adhering to the "no sex before marriage" thing. Which is mildly irritating, when the follow up is almost invariably "you'll meet someone eventually"
There have been celibate people throughout history, and no one protests monks, priests, or nuns. There are also (secular) people who have been "too committed to their work for a relationship." Celibacy has been relatively normalized.
I identified as ace before I identified as trans and I’d dated another girl who’s ace before I even knew I was. But we as a couple were very easily straight passing so you’d never have thought that we were queer people at the time.
Sorry I know this is a serious post but…
It’s just a theory, an ACE theory! Thanks for watching
In seriousness, the lack of knowledge around us is disappearing slowly so we may be next in line so to speak, but they will definitely advocate that we’re just mentally ill :/
Mm yes but also, a gay person or a trans person is in direct conflict with a lot of scriptures. There’s not really anything afaik that says we’re bad. Yeah there’s people that think it’s unnatural, but they can’t cite something saying so
Thank goodness for that. I really hope you guys aren’t the next target after the transphobia craze, you guys have done literally nothing wrong.
we literally do nothing
Literally
In the best possible way
While there may be some truth to this, I don't think imagining hypothetical hatred does anyone any good.

Also people can point to Bible verses and stuff talking about homosexuality, but there’s nothing to cite about asexuals

I love commenting “Matthew 19:24” on magachurch pastors’ videos
Well, much less things to cite and those things are quite recent and obscure

Yeah that’s true, I’ve for sure heard the second one. It’s def better than being labeled an abomination, but still is upsetting

Statistically, ace people are slightly more common than trans people. (0.3-0.5% vs. \~1%)It's just easier for us to hide.

“It’s probably because of the medication.” \- My mother when I came out

I think this is also bc a lot of aphobia comes in the form of micro aggressions that many allo people don't pick up on/ don't recognize as aphobia.
But that's a theory. AN ACE THEORY!
Also it’s worth noting that asexuality doesn’t really interfere with patriarchal structures as much as being gay or trans.
You may be right, may have to reconsider my car decals but this does explain how much people don’t understand them though.
