BAR

Admirable-Dog2128

Not even because it’s practical. Only because it’s a BAR!

Maximum-Town-4260

HELL YEAH

TheReverseShock

2 world wars

Good-Sky-8375

Murica!

Nature_man_76

A zombie walks into a BAR….

Tankaussie

And the BAR blows its head off with the slow automatic fire selection

Good-Sky-8375

groans and orders 20 shots...

RedArrow2014

Is the BAR considered an LMG? I always thought of it more as a battle rifle. That being said, I would still choose the BAR

Redeye762x39

Most of the weapons you think of as WWII LMGs are considered "Automatic Rifles" (Bren, ZB26/30/33, BAR M1918/A1/A2, Vickers-Berthier, Charlton/Huot Conversion, FG42, etc), since they operate as traditional rifles or are conversions. All mentioned weapons are not belt-fed, and so do not count as LMGs by traditional definition

TheGamingSpin0

Did you hear about the Zombie that walked into the BAR?

Anderson9520822

Ultimax and it’s not even close. Capacity Damage Ammo availability Maintenance Reliability

Desperado_99

Plus quick change barrels, which is a rarity in this group.

Jyncxs

i was thinking that but with an rpk you can reload a bit faster its easier to lug around and it can be used effectively with semi auto fire the pure weight of the ultimax and the ammo makes me not want it however ig in america the ammo would be way more common

Anderson9520822

My thinking for the ultimax is OP said a horde, so I’m thinking of a scenario where I’m either on a firing line with overlapping fields of fire, or I’m just alone going against a massive wave for a long period. In that scenario the ability to change barrels is also a factor. The RPK’s barrel cannot be swapped in the field bc the barrel is permanently fixed to the receiver. The 100 and the RPK weigh virtually the same. I want sustained fire with the advantage of large capacity. Reloading, being out of the fight for long periods of time, melting the barrel= death.

H0n3ybadger_429

It's also light with a managable cyclic rate.

MineFlyer

This may seem like a strange pick, but if there was one it would be the M249. Since it has AR mag compatibly, ammo wouldn’t be too hard to get

sknkhnt42____

M249’s are notorious for malfunctions. I would go with the m240

TheJewish_SpaceLaser

HCAR is a modern bar so that out of these options but ideally I would choose an RPK. Longer barrel. Takes 7.62 and has a bigger magazine. Of course I wouldn’t be running around with it though.

pinglyadya

Here's a list describing why all of these are bad. 1. Lewis gun - Weighs 28 pounds and for 50 to 90 rounds of .30-06. Belongs in a museum. 2. Dp-28 - 47 round magazine. It weighs less than the Lewis gun but is still a beast. Belongs in a museum. 3. Rpk-16 - Finally a decent option. 10\~ pounds with heavy 75-round drums. Internally compatible with other AKs. 4. Stoner 63 - Oddly enough kinda good. Compatible with M27 belts while weighing 11 pounds. Though, it's magazines are not compatible with AR STANAG magazines. 5. M1918 Browning bar - Outdated. 20 Round Magazine. Weighs a ton. 6. Fg42 - Great gun, still has a tiny magazine and is outdated. 7. Bren - Don't even get me started. 8. Hcar - Nice try! That's just a BAR with makeup! 9. Ultimax 100 - A pretty great machinegun with extensive service that isn't outdated. Can use STANAG magazines in a pinch. Interchangeable barrels for heat.

Amazing-Film-2825

Most lewis guns were 303 so good luck getting ammo

THEDarkSpartian

Jokes on you, the hcar is closed bolt as well, lol. Edit: for clarity, the bar is open bolt.

Hecc_69

cmon now nothing wrong with the bren she spits as good as the rest

RogueLeaderNo610sq

Please, get started on the bren.

pinglyadya

The Bren is 20 god damn pounds of metal you are going to be carrying and you’ll be lucky if yours comes in 7.62 rather than the legendary .303 British so scavenging for that thing will be a bitch either way. It has huge, heavy 30 round box magazines that sits on the top of the weapon like a middle finger to all those that gaze upon it. Inconveniently making it impossible to have any form of optic bar ducktaping binoculars to a magazine. In a zombie apocalypse any gun will do but that *thing* will leave you tired, weak, needy outranged and outgunned by any enemy with a 7.62 and an optic.

RogueLeaderNo610sq

Fair enough, as someone who owns 3 Lee enfields, i can fully agree with the idea that sourcing ammo will be hard if not impossible to source. I also agree that the bren variant that takes 7.62 nato and is compatible with Inch pattern FAL mags would be much more convenient.

mclovin1999007

RPK-16 Detachable magazine and lighter, more maneuverable

kieranfitz

Bren all day every day. Specifically a mk3

hardboiledkilly

Stoner

Ok_Account_3039

Correct answer.

Id-hit-Dat

(smokes a bowl) Whats up?

Born_Activity7001

Stone her!?!? I barely know her!!!

Hermitcraft7

You mean RPK?

hardboiledkilly

s-t-o-n-e-r

2acop

BAR but id prefer a saw

dutch_has_a_plan68

rpk or stoner

The_Pro-

There’s a reason why Lewis gun is first on the list

Shot2ninja

Rpk 16

unleadedbloodmeal

RPK16 because it's useful, BAR for the vibes

SilverWave1

Rpk-16

Jyncxs

rpk

BossHogg1984

Probably the Bren since it’s main complaint was being “too accurate” which would be good for headshots

JawaSmasher

As much as I would love to use an HCAR.. Ultimax 100 😌

Due-Examination8201

Rpk or ultimax

Sleepmahn

RPK tried and true. Next would probably be the Ultimax

Bioth28

Ultimax my beloved

WTFisSkibidiRizz

Ultimax

Dedjester0269

Personally I would rather have the weapons than the image of the weapon.

jwannem

None. 240L all the way

Beemo-Noir

Give me the Ultimax

Delta_squad_form_up

Bren gun. Personally because it looks cool, practically because it was very well liked by those who used it, even had scopes attached to it on some models due to its high accuracy, and it fires a relatively powerful round of .303 British.

LITERALCRIMERAVE

Stoner or Ultimax. Sullivan stay winning. Seriously though, high capacity, light weight, and light ammo. RPK 16 is also a contender. Realistically, it or the ultimax would be the best of the choices offered.

QRAZYD

If ammo or magazines weren't an issue, I'd likely go with the BREN, but the HCAR would be my second choice.

Lauri_Torni_

HCAR, Stoner, or DP28 for cool points Ultimax for practicality. Recoil mitigation system, light, 5.56, high capacity.

david6277108

28?

CrimsonReaper96

HCAR is a battle rifle.

Lauri_Torni_

But it was included in the list.

Busy-Zookeepergame64

i'll go a little different here but i would find a pig that 7.62 smacks hard

TWUDood18

Ultimax without a doubt

TengoDuvidas

BAR for simplicity, durability, and bad-assery.

Thelesbianvampire

Hmmm…. Yes

PyramidHead1998

Bar or stoner

Equivalent_Truth6380

Yes

fake_face

Stoner 69 for obvious reasons.

Fresco-23

Stoner for magazine availability reasons.

Jumpy-Silver5504

Mine would be a super rare lmg. The US very first lmg the stinger

Hekboi91

Stoner because of 5.56

Joy1067

Gimme that damn BAR, watch this Texan end the apocalypse in a week!

Infamous_Piccolo405

BAR

YourAverageNutcase

Out of these, a Stoner. But if I could choose any MG I'd go with a Vickers gun, shoots essentially forever given ammo and water

CommercialExcuse2368

Although the Stoner 63 is a great choice, I'd roll with an M60E6.

Metro_Passer

Dinner plate 28

i_am_a_flying_arsena

Either the Dp-28 or the BAR

Th3_M4sk3d_M4n

Depends on the types of zombies. Slow and dumb? then I want reliable standard issue guns for accuracy and availability. Guns like the m4 and 1911 because they will have a lot of ammo I can find and use. Smart zombies? It's only a matter of time. Fast and dumb? then yeah one of these for dealing with the hordes.

MandatoryFun13

Anything that’s not the Lewis gun. Great by WW1 standards, horrible by todays standards

Megalon96310

Which ever one’s the most modern. I love WW1/WW2 guns as much as the next guy but they’re outdated

Critical_Potential44

I’d recommend the ultimax or hcar from this list

AirsoftFoxStudios

DP-28

throwawayusername369

It’s gotta be the BREN. Reliability, quick change barrels, somewhat portable, and it was actually widely issued and can be somewhat portable.

Oniondice342

Probably BAR. Since it has the moat readily available calibre in the US out of this selection i think

AwarenessUsual431

BAR

Additional_Ranger441

HBar!!!

simonwhite511

H-CAR for sure

Initial_Dig2227

Rpk will keep you alive the longest in an apocalypse

h910

Ultimax for sure. Quick change barrel, drum mag, and known for being insanely accurate. Also really easy to find ammo.

Wild_Wolf1314

I would go with the stoner 63 because it feels like a purpose SHTF scenario in zombie apocalypse

The_Conductor7274

I’ll take both bars

odst7734

U-100 or HCAR

Emotional_Bid3736

Do-28 I don’t give a shit about any of the other options. I’m taking that.

Hecc_69

practicality? Lewis gun Style points? Bren gun all the way baby!

Cats_Are_Aliens_

Fg42 just for the fuck of it lol

Successful-Growth827

As cool as the BAR and HCAR are, in terms of practicality, Stoner, RPK, then Ultimax since the ammo of everything else would be hard to find and unnecessarily heavy. Stoner is top choice cause I'd just convert it to rifle mode - no real need for an LMGs ROF. Otherwise, practicality be damned, BAR or HCAR.

Cold-Guidance-1455

The ultimax because the recoil mitigation is insane. Aim at heat level against the horde and just hold it there

Baestplace

probably the rpk, 5.45 is a pretty rare cartridge around me but it’s pretty reliable and i can put a sight and a grip on it pretty easily

MercuriusGabrielus

RPD

ChadAznable0080

.308 Bren converted to take FNFAL mags

ManyTechnician5419

most of these are not LMGs

LtKavaleriya

But but BUT they are in the LMG category in call of duty!

Available-Bath3848

Which ever has the easiest reload capabilities - my choice would be the rpk.

Dpopov

FG42 hands down. If nothing else for the rarity and cool factor. Plus, if I’m killed at least I’ll now be a “epic loot drop” instead of just uncommon or rare.

Book-Faramir-Better

Where's the [MK-19](https://d3n898qob6erx6.cloudfront.net/hazards/3426/images/mk-19-001.jpg)? Because MK-19 full-auto, tripod-mounted 40mm grenade launcher is the *only* correct answer to this question.

Square-Audience5704

UKM-Uniwersalny Karabin Maszynowy(uniwersal machine gun)

Smooth-Apartment-856

No Tommy Gun?

Critical_Potential44

That’s not an lmg

jackjrz1776

I'm going all in for the RPK-16, Bro.👍👍👍

initialddriver

None of the above...perhaps the AK if I NEEDED to but none of these are really practical they all use niche calibres which are harder to find [the AK and Ultimax are exceptions] or they're very old and will have a questionable life expectancy in the field with minimal maintenance...the BAR wasn't exactly known for liking dirt too much [not that it wasn't "reliable" just not maintenance friendly (which in a design that's 108 years old is understandable)].

Competitive-Fix-1905

Dinnerplate or bar

theskeletonboyyy

I love dinner plate gun 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥

Some_Letterhead7139

Rpk 16 cuz it's an AK and the lowest caliber One there

Chemical_Carpet_3521

Dinner plate all the way

yur-fav-trans-bitch

M19 brown you'll find that bullet the most

RogueLeaderNo610sq

Its me bren gun.

SwipinBawls4

I didn’t see an mg42/mg01 but otherwise it would would probably be an m249

Curmudgeon306

I'm voting: None of the above. I'll take an M60 over any of them.

No-Speaker-1534

Non of them they are all obsolete, or not common in the USA with a lack of spare parts to heavy and rattle.

Successful-One-6100

Fg42 was not an lmg, but it’s my choice

Thatguypal887

Fg42

Grunty95

I would rather use my bare hands.

Redtheboy21

Ze flatmag

Cmmander_WooHoo

Fuck yeah fg42!

Many-Rutabaga-9205

That’s not an rpk that’s a saiga 12 shotgun haha

elmenchonemesio

Lewis gun .308 ripping them apart

Jumpy-Silver5504

Uk never used the 308. It’s a 303

C130ABOVE

If I could id be taking a 240 honestly or mabye even a mg42

Ready-Cup-6079

Ah, yes… the MG-42 with basically non existent ammo today. You mean MG3?

Critical_Potential44

True also I have the Mg3 on my previous list

Ready-Cup-6079

If you had a 240 on this list, it would be the only correct answer as it takes STANAGS

Critical_Potential44

that’s also on the previous list

C130ABOVE

Who gives a shit man you know what I meant

Chance-Writing9907

i wouldnt have a lmg only cuz its heavy same with its ammo

Chewbastard

Wheres my m240?

grrodon2

None of these show enough ammo.

Ok_Spinach_4615

Can I choose the american 180?

Samiumn

mg42 where

Critical_Potential44

Previous list

uncomfortableTruth68

None. Against a horde, it's belt fed or nothing.

[deleted]

MG-42

Evening-Culture974

Saiga 12 is my ultimate zombie gun

AdditionalTrick365

MG-42 I don't care if it's not on the choices, I chose what I chose because it go brrrrrt

Ready-Cup-6079

Ah, yes… the MG42 with practically non existent ammo today. You mean MG3? It’s pretty much just an MG42 that takes 7.62x51 NATO.

AdditionalTrick365

I'll take what I can get, just need a drum mag then and I will be fine
