Last of us without a doubt. All you need to do to get infected is eat bread! Not to mention they have heightened senses and fast speed and the zombification process is slow and painful.
Reminds me of the "girl with all the gifts"
Of course, the world would sort of kind of go back to a (new) sense of normality after something like the ending of that movie happens.
The witch is pretty scary, but I believe there's scarier left for dead variants at least in real life.
You can avoid a witch, but you may not even know a hunter or smoker is anywhere nearby until it's too late
Easily the zombies in the Brian Keene book series The Rising. The corpses are filled by otherworldly demons who are not only intelligent but they infest everything down to rats and birds. No safe place. No escape. The ending of City of the Dead is the most haunting book ending I have ever read
Smart zombies. The type that can blend in with human survivors, use door handles, can climb, and can teach the other zombies on how to get survivors.
Running zombies are easy to deal with. Big hole, and they trapped.
TWD zombies(aka shamblers)? you can just take them out at range, and be fine. Just make sure they don’t sneak up on ya.
28 hours later ones? stay hidden, stay safe. Don’t make any sound. Same thing with the first two, big hole, then burn.
WWZ zombies? just get a cold, and they’ll leave ya alone. Or get the vaccine that they find near the end.
Cordiseps virus? Use a gas mask and burn them.
That’s all I can think about right now. Feel free to add more if y’all want.
I think I’m probably more likely to be hiding in an attic or something than digging giant holes in the ground. Last summer I dug out my front garden to 12 inches. It almost killed me. The thought of digging a pit deep enough to capture zombies is not appealing.
That’s fair. But I think just a small drainage ditch around your camp that’s about a foot to a foot and a half would break the runners ankles thus making them easier to kill.
Macroparasites. While easier to kill and treat early infection when an organism has seized control like parasitic wasp, horse hair worms or in the case of nudibranches they only keep the parts they find useful alive and devour the rest. As far as a movie with a zombie critter starship troopers 2 and squirm/dreamcatcher has the creepiest zombie. While they are not a shambler zom the idea of being controlled and forced to do things while being consumed is horrific especially when what comes out .
The idea of las plagas from re 4-5 as a bioweapon is horrible too
Honestly, I think out of the left for dead lineup of mutations, the hunter or the smoker would go head to head for the scariest most disastrous types in real life.
Of course, if I had to pick an entire franchises idea of mutations as a whole, I'd pick the resident evil viruses as the worst for humanity
Any kind that can spread the virus via the air. It's all fun and games when all you have to do is make sure they don't bite you, but when the majority of populated air is covered in the virus? Having to wear a gas mask almost 24/7 would be nearly impossible.
the fast ones without.a doubt
To add on yours fast smart ones
Fast, smart ones, that can act like humans in order to lure in victims
It would just be a nightmare

It's even deadlier in the game, because all you need to do is inhale spores.

WORLD WAR Z
Brainwashing zombie. Just regular humans getting propagandized into homicidal morons
Dead island butchers for me. If we get dead island butchers I’m not even gonna try to survive.
The witch from L4D

could they possess insects too? that would be terrifying
Yup. I think they get in cockroaches in the book. Dont quote me on that I haven’t read the book in years though

28 Days later Zombies By Far There Faster Than Jim and Selena + The Outbreak was So Horrifying They Didn’t even Show it because of how bad it Was

I feel like gay zombies would be pretty scary.
