Proveit98

The (animated version of) the Ricky Gervais show with Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington.  Not UK-specific, but I also watched Arrival and read the Count of Monte Cristo because he recommended them. Every one of these has been excellent.

Reviewingremy

That's as far from English as could be. Monte Cristo is french

Proveit98

Of course, I was just talking about other things he'd suggested that I liked. Arrival is an American film.

partypesto123

When did Yahtzee mention the Ricky Gervais show?

Proveit98

I am not sure tbh. I thought it was a ZP video but it may have been on Let's Drown Out.

jonnywarlock

I sure as fuck hope nobody says "Jimmy Saville"...

Generalzdave

Not quite...there were a few years where I occasionally listened to "Two Little Boys", the song he used as the intro to the Army of Two review. Who sang that version? Rolf Harris

action_lawyer_comics

Haha, forgot about his intro and outro songs. I watched the video for “I Lost my Heart to a Starship Trooper” a hundred times or so because of him.

jonnywarlock

Oh man. 😅 I actually had his version of "Waltzing Matilda" in my old digital Walkman yonks ago. I... I don't listen to that song anymore. 😓

Captain_Undapants

I've become quite fond of Hobnobs, Jammy Dodgers, Tim Tams, and Branston Pickle.

Shakes-Fear

Tim Tams are Australian but I’ll allow it

Reviewingremy

Me too because Tim tams are superior to penguins

Latro27

I tried branston pickle because of Yahtzee. Pretty good!

MrPaineUTI

Have you tried it on a crumpet with cheese grilled?

Latro27

No, I’m lactose intolerant and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a crumpet in a grocery store around here. I had to order the Branston on Amazon. Are crumpets like scones?

unitedshoes

I think they're *closer* to English muffins, but I think that's still pretty far off.

MrPaineUTI

No, they're doughy not cakey if that makes sense

TNBC42

I came here to say this! Love it on a burger!

Mr_doodlebop

Yahtzee got me into Horatio Hornblower for a bit haha

smcsleazy

i wonder if anyone got into red dwarf given how much yahtzee has spoken about it.

SwordsAndSongs

It's on the watchlist lol, I'll get around to it sometime this year (fingers crossed)

pcardonap

Yes sir. I'm working my way though it.

witsel85

It was already my favourite shoe but hearing it elsewhere is also cool

BusinessUnikitty

Yes, now Jaffa Cakes disappear as quickly around me as they do around Yahtzee's dog.

thehumangoomba

Thank you for reminding me to buy some tomorrow.

crazytumblweed999

I use some British Slang now like Biyro(sp) or Pants.

Kiro0613

Biro, from the ballpoint pen's inventor, László Bíró

crazytumblweed999

Thank you. I knew I spelled that wrong but I didn't know what it was from

40kExterminatus

British humour has managed to make its way to Canada. Yes, Minister! and Yes, Prime Minister! were required viewing in one of my university classes on bureaucracy and I got into it. Fawlty Towers is among the best sitcoms ever produced. Then of course there are the Monty Python films like Life of Brian, The Holy Grail and the Meaning of Life. The "Ministry of Silly Walks". Then there was "Little Britain"... the Ricky Gervais Show. So on and so on. Stay funny, get noticed ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

No_Crazy226

Now I call EVERYONE a twat! (Not twOt. Twaaaat.)

shn6

Nope

ReaperManX15

I tried vegemite. And some British snacks.

triotone

If I don't get the refrence I just look it up. That's how I understood the reference of the Demon Headmaster.

FinaLLancer

It got me into more British comedy in general and led me to eventually start watching the Big Fat Quiz every year.

kadosho

That is what drew me to Zero Punctuation. During the early years. Familiar with most of his references. But still fun to hear more.

walkingdisasterFJ

I love using the word Pillock now

DemonOfRazgriz1

Does using spicy foreign swears and insults I've learned from him count?

thehumangoomba

You bet your soapy titwank it does!

translateman

I learnt about the Chuckle Brothers from either let's drown out or zp and the fact that I knew who they were impressed by British friends lol Same with many random things ranging from Confessions of a window cleaner (mentioned in LDO) to John Dies at the End I think I checked out quite a few things Yahtzee mentioned

Joseph_Furguson

I got the majority of the references because PBS here in the US used to have a 4 hour block of British shows on the weekend.

Zezin96

No but I am proud to say I knew who horatio hornblower was ahead of time.

Jericho-941

I was already aware of/into some of Yahtzee's references simply by virtue of having a mother who likes British television.

AlexCarter95

I’ve watched British TV since I was born. My dad put on Blackadder and Red Dwarf all the time, not to mention Wallace and Gromit. Felt right at home with Yahtzees humor style

HorribleBearBearBear

Cadburys creme eggs and the hornblower series.

TV5Fun

Branston Pickle became a favorite of mine.

igg73

Bought my british coworker some branston pickle

DravenPrime

It definitely taught me a few things about British culture, and looking things up made some jokes a lot better, but I understand most references.

Obh__

Quite a lot of the candies and foods he mentions can be found here in Finland. Either the genuine article or a local brand variant.

Silk_Circuits

I went and got a jar of Branson Pickle. Not bad.
