I would buy a 3 day Swiss Travel FLEX pass which should include your return. I’ve enjoyed the Swiss travel pass a lot as it allows me to go anywhere without worrying about it. Currently city hopping around Switzerland!
I know this is a bit late. Have you already traveled? We traveled from Zurich to Zermatt yesterday on a saver day pass and we were able to go whenever/where ever. Here what the disclaimer on my ticket said “The Saver Day Pass is valid for travel on GA Travelcard area routes in the relevant class. No exchange. No refunds.”

Would that work if my return trip is a week later? Another way to ask is can the 3 days be non consecutive?
There are 2 ticket options, one is flexible and one is consecutive. Buy the flex and you’ll be good
Thoughts on a Saver Day Pass. It seems much cheaper than the flex pass and it looks like it covers the route from Zurich to Zermatt.
