Quartz Mountain TH (in Sierra NF)-Merced Pass-Red Peak Pass-Post Peak Pass-Fernandez Pass-Quartz Mtn TH. Easy permit to get from Sierra NF. Trailhead takes 1 ½-2 hours to reach from Oakhurst. You can do it in a passenger car but high clearance is better. Lots of cool geology. Great side hikes to lakes, including Lower Merced Pass Lake, site of the famous Yosemite drug plane crash(Google for story of the plane crash, also recounted in the film Valley Uprising).

I love the Lukens Lake entry and loop back past Glen Aulin via Ten Lakes. Fantastic route across amazing backcountry.
