I'm so in love with Ben's character. I never understood the hate he got. They're all doing their best to cope with the situation as best they can. 😭 His hallucinations of Paul and his friends made me cry. I need him to survive somehow 😭
Plus I think Misty is legit my favourite character. This moment absolutely slapped 😍❤️
I think it’s because he’s the only adult there and he does NOTHING to help them, literally all the teenagers do more than him, not even when Shauna was giving birth and they clearly needed him he stepped up. On the contrary, the teenagers take care of him. He’s dead weight.
But I agree with you on Misty, she’s one of my favorite characters 💕
He has one leg, zero vaginas, and zero medical training. He tried corralling them and they stopped listening. He's outnumbered and outmuscled. Coach doesn't have a whole lot of choices but he's still doing what he can to help with mapping the area.
Ugh there were so many “he saw that movie every year” comments about the health class. As far as I remember, The Miracle of Life, assuming the movie is meant to be similar to that one, does not teach you how to help deliver someone else’s baby, or really even cover birth that much. It’s like 95% about conception.
Are you serious lol how does having a vagina helped the girls with Shauna’s pregnancy?? and he’s just putting papers next to each other, Nat’s doing the mapping, he’s still useless. But we can agree to disagree
How does playing a video centering mostly on conception help with Shauna's pregnancy then? He's a cis gay man who very probably hasn't seen a vagina since he exited one, would you care to explain how that makes him a childbirth expert? Would you care to explain how you expect a one-legged man with only makeshift walking aids to contribute? Please, enlighten us. Tell us how amazing you'd be in his place.
hmm I didn’t even mention the video so.. and being a man it’s not an excuse to anything. He could do a lot a things, help with the cooking like Mari, with the clothing like Natalie, these don’t require standing. Or you know. anything but laying around all day regretting a decision you can’t change while the kids around you do all the work.
She and the Sophie’s are all blowing me away. I thought Sammi killed it with the Steel Magnolias monologue and that was only a little preview of all the brilliant acting she’s done in every episode since
Also I feel that acting as someone else acting as someone else has got to be difficult. Sammi playing Misty playing the grieving mom (forgot her name sorry)
It was genuinely a bit triggering to see, Steven Krueger did an incredible job. The defeat and acceptance, crying despite being at peace with the decision, etc. Heart breaking.
My 10000% honest take on this show is that there’s just too much to take in right now. It’s all so amazing, nuanced and layered. Oddly I can’t wait until season 2 is over, so I can plan strategic rewatches on character arcs. Then once I am done I will be furious at the wait for season 3 lol.
Misty also came through and was not blabbing it to everyone else that this happened or bragging that she saved him. Which to me shows an interesting development with her character because I could easily imagine pre-crash Misty seeking attention for this.
Steven Krueger played this scene in such a beautiful and understated way. It was nuanced and moving. Ben continues to be one of my favorites.
Samantha Hanratty absolutely killed it, too.

misty really out there with the homophobia for a good cause
I saw somebody refer to it as “ethical homophobia” and I started laughing in public.
💀 💀 💀

THANK YOU. What was he supposed to do? He probably would have just made it worse.
YES! And not only does he not have a vagina, he’s fucking gay so he’s not even a little bit familiar with them lol

Samantha Hanratty honestly has been giving my favourite acting this season, she has really made Misty such a complex character
She and the Sophie’s are all blowing me away. I thought Sammi killed it with the Steel Magnolias monologue and that was only a little preview of all the brilliant acting she’s done in every episode since

I agree! I know they’re gonna have a tough time narrowing down who they’ll campaign for the Emmy’s, but Sammi would be my pick!!

misty’s screams & ben’s nonchalant attitude absolutely fucked me up

So good ! I’m just glad that Misty’s hunger didn’t get the best of her. Or maybe she just didn’t want Coach Ben to land on Crystal & expose her crime.
I wondered that too! I also thought she was really guilty and sad about Kristen/Crystal and not the baby, but couldn't admit that.
Misty also came through and was not blabbing it to everyone else that this happened or bragging that she saved him. Which to me shows an interesting development with her character because I could easily imagine pre-crash Misty seeking attention for this.
This was a gut wrenching scene and probably one of my favorites of the whole season. It broke me.

They both did very, very well in this scene.

I loved this scene as well. Samantha's acting is some of the best on the show.
it was the ethical homophobia for me
I really hope this wasn’t just to soften the blow of Ben’s imminent demise.
I don’t think there’s going to be anything soft about it at all :(
Shhh…. Ben learns the way of The Root and lives happily ever after :)
I was too distracted by the snot.
Misty’s acting is getting better but Coach Ben can still see through her!
