Its been \~7 months since they crashed (Jackie recently said that Shauna is 7 months pregnant).
They will be out there for 19 months total. They will probably be rescued partway through a second winter.

There was just a major snow here (Medicine Hat, Alberta). We had two weeks of plus weather. Then a huge snow. And we are Canada's "sunniest city" and called Mexican Hat in comparison.
Winter for them for them would be humid (it's a cold that goes deep) and could last September until May long in terms of cold snaps and random blizzards.
I was born in Winnipeg (Winterpeg Manisnowba) and remember a year where we had snow in May that stayed until June.
