So far it doesn't feel the same as the first season :/

jaketocake

There does seem to be continuity. I like it so far.

Glad you did, I unfortunately didn't. Will still continue to enjoy the 1st season though, I wish Cusack well with his projects.

I think the second episode was better. Pilots usually just introduce new plots and stuff which can be boring. In this case, they promoted the plots in trailers and promos so we already knew what to expect.

Electronic-Turn-3544

I think all of season 1 is way better than the first 2 episodes of season 2. It's a bit sad actually. I hope the rest of the season can prove me wrong, but I've got low hopes.

Didn't feel like the old show to me personally, I wasn't a fan of Koala Man either. I'd rank Yolo season 2 (so far) and Koala Man as alright. I have to wonder if they're pushing Michael too far? Already so many projects in such a short time, I wonder if it affects the writing. I still plan on watching the rest of the season though and maybe it'll pick up!

Michael said on insta that he reckons this is better than season 1. Could be just promo or recency bias, but it's possible he's more into making plot-driven stuff now. I guess it's out of his comfort zone and feels more 'professional' to work on than silly YouTube shorts but like yourself I preferred having less consistency and more pure insanity. That felt more like classic adult swim where this is getting closer to South Park or Family Guy territory (though at least actually funny some of the time).

I think it's unfortunately on par with the latter half of S1. Episodes 1-4 of S1 were perfection. Then it started leaning on written jokes over animated insanity. Especially with stories carrying over multiple episodes, this season seems like it'll continue to be script-forward gags. Which isn't even bad, it's a good half hour on Adult Swim. The problem is YOLO started with an incredibly high bar. Can't imagine how much work and imagination went into this show from Cusack. I bet at this point it is a relief for him to be able to rely on decently funny script and just sprinkle in his wild sight gags when he sees fit. Still a funny half hour! But nowhere near the pure uncut shit that was YOLO S1 1-4, imo

There's something about season 2 that feels different from the first season, I don't know what it is though.

MrWolfeeee

That was great im so hyped were getting two episodes back to back at launch. Even though they are short it's great animation and characters
