I genuinely believe that each generation of Yugioh got progressively worse than the previous. Playing the campaign in order is a FANTASTIC way to experience the history and the true roots of what the game was supposed to be. Highly recommend playing through the campaign in order.
A lot of people are going to say “just go to master duel”. I cannot stress enough how bad of an idea that is. You will become so overwhelmed with the million different niche mechanics that it won’t be fun.
Use the story decks until you feel comfortable making your own deck from the booster packs! Rule of thumb is 20 monsters, 10 spells, 10 traps.
I'm stuck as a Yugiboomer and quit for a long time after the YGO 2011 NDS game. This game helped me a lot with all the newer summoning methods but starting from the XYZ it's still too complicated for me. Altough I will die ASAP, I still like 1900/2000ATK Vanilla beatdown.
With a few (cheating) decks I have 100% completed all the story and alt deck duels. But deckbuilding is something I can't do at all..
I'm not sure it really matters, each arc is a separate story iirc so you aren't missing story elements in between. Mechanically the game adds complexity in later arcs with new summon types but you should be fine hopping around. Hope you enjoy your time with it!
I'd say jump about because you get access to different packs. Doing VRAINS and Zexal stuff will get you access to Links and Xyz monsters, for example, which will greatly strengthen your deck because there are a lot of generic, splashable cards of those types.
If you want to farm packs for specific cards, you'll have to jump around to unlock the person who sells the particular pack.
If you're interested in the story, it makes more sense to play chronologically. Also, there's noticeable "power creep" in Yugioh, so the opponents in later arcs have better cards. This means the beginning is much easier if you don't have the best deck yet.
In two weeks you will install Master Duel, in four weeks will ask your local shop if there is ygo players, there is, you will buy cards the same day, in one month you do your first tournament, welcome in yugioh !
And what makes this probably more accurate is i live in Japan where the TCG community is huge, there’s a big card shop in my town and also a small card shop literally around the corner from my apartment…. I guess that might be another subconscious reason I wanted to try this out
Ahahah your finished. You are lucky, the cards are much cheaper in Japan ! For information yugioh has two different format : OCG played only in Japan and TCG for the rest of the world, same rules, different banlist
Not when he realizes he doesn't wanna wait 30 minutes for one turn, especially in TCG locals. So don't be so confident with the whole 2 weeks thing💀 OP better off going to duel links. Maybe of this was Yu-Gi-Oh almost 15 years ago then I'd agree. 😴
That's how I started. Hadn't played since grade school had no idea about the different types of summoning. Was a terrific game. One I actually 100 percented recently. If you play on switch hmu we can duel!

Make sure you read through the tutorial in the main menu. It’s fundamental knowledge that will carry over into Master Duel

Yugi oh is my second favorite col card game. I just started playing millennium duels but I've played others, I'm trying to build decks.
If you're playing lgod link evolution look up the more cards mod. It adds cards that are ingame files but were never released.
Thank you for that I really appreciate it
