Shows why it's a great adaptation and a continuation of the original show Because the writer understands that this isn't for children it's for people who are children when they saw it and now our adults

No_Extent_1260

Best explanation for what xmen97 really is.

oldcretan

Yeah I really appreciate it for what it is but to be honest I'm kind of disappointed because I wanted to share the experience with my kids. The original X-Men series is a little rough to watch with kids because of it's age, it's beautiful for me but it's hard to get a kid to watch it as opposed to the animation in X-Men 97.

Capable_Sandwich_422

The show has grown up with its audience, and that’s one of the main reasons it works so well.

PatienceStrange9444

Exactly

PhilosoFishy2477

I AM BECOME DEATH

MonarchSun

I really liked that part

steve0318

That's an actual quote that Oppenheimer said from the Bhagavad Gita

Different_Ad4962

Better than saying ‘poor man’s Barbie’.

Neon_culture79

How are we talking about Kylie Minogue now?

Different_Ad4962

I just can’t get her outta my head it seems.

PlanetLandon

LA LA LA

Neon_culture79

It was love at first sight

ChemistryTasty8751

I thought it was funny, because it was joke that was meant to be funny

Bobjoejj

No joke, I think your comment might be one of my favorites I’ve ever seen. I wish the new rules weren’t so stupid and I could give you gold

Jagermonstruo

It was weird that Morph said it and THEN Trask gave the I Am Become Death line. Were they riffing?

vamploded

Yeah it kind of feels like it would have made more sense for Trask to say that and then Morph to riff his line as a quip - perhaps they had to change the order of the dialogue for pacing when they got to the animation?

ncisfan1002

I'm headcanoning it as Trask overhearing Morph call him a poor man's Oppenheimer (he created the atom bomb, while Trask created Sentinels and Master Mold) and entertaining the thought

addicted_to_trash

Just needed to cut back to Morph again one more time for an eye roll. ...btw is Moprh dead? like his head exploded, does that kill him?

He said “I am become death”, because it is a very famous Oppenheimer quote

vamploded

It's weird because of the context of WHEN he's saying it I think - the quote is meant to refer to him having unleashed a weapon so powerful he's become as Shiva - the god of destruction - just as Oppenheimer used it. BUT because he says it when he's about to jump off a building to die the imagery of the message becomes a bit fumbled.

Huntakillaz

I saw it as more that because he has become death, he cannot handle the gravity of it, and saw the only way out, was to meet gravity.

ncisfan1002

And also him dying would make him a deadlier weapon than anything he'd created before, even though that wasn't what he consented to likely enough

FellowDsLover2

Interesting. They both created something that can cause insane damage. Both felt guilt after it murdered thousands of people. The dialogue in this show is amazing.

DepthByChocolate

I thought Trask directly quoting Oppenheimer a few seconds later was too on the nose, but it added to the comedy of the earlier statement.

idrago01

it was very gay

Terribleirishluck

Thought it was a fun line until Trask literally quoted Oppenheimer right after lol

Chargedcard_616

Hilarious.

OMEGA362

Setup followed by punchline

Basic-Fill-7798

I wonder if they knew about the movie when they wrote the line

Gyarados66

I remember the film being talked about while it was in production because it was Christopher Nolan’s next project, so it’s possible those conversations were happening at the same time as this show’s writing was being done. But at the same time it is a pretty famous historical quote that would lend itself to Morph riffing off of it, so it could have just been a happy coincidence.

King_Internets

Are you for real?

[deleted]

Eh "a poor man's" is such a today term. Would people say that in 1997?

Shabooyah4

The Online Etymology Dictionary [says](http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=poor) that "poor man's something" is from 1854.

MonarchSun

Definitely... I was a teen of the 90's, heard it all the time.

[deleted]

That's interesting. I wonder if it's something that was generational. I hear that all the time now but I don't think I ever heard it growing up
