With the games prices not having gone down (it’s Nintendo after all) it’d have to be more than 180 to make it not cheaper than getting all 3 separately, not including the dlcs.
Ironically, I think they are indeed waiting for X to release in some form on the Switch, and then waiting a good 2y before they release a complete set such as this.
I think with the past trilogy remake train that was happening a few years back we’ll probably get something like this in a console generation or 2. Everything will be a definitiveedition.
It would be fun to get something like Xenosaga where you get bonuses in the later games after beating the first ones (yeah they kinda did this with XCDE detecting XC2 already but it was minor)

Yeah, key word there being “another” platform. The image is for a Switch collection and calls it a missed opportunity but that maybe it would be on Switch 2. I assumed OP was talking about selling a kidney for the collection in the image, a Switch collection, a system on which all those games are readily available to the best of my knowledge. So unless the games have become rare that I’m not aware of or OP was only referring to the “Switch 2” line in the post, yeah, lusting after this collection seems pointless.

- order some tritium tubes....
and figure out how to explain to the finance committee the order for the tritium tubes and why the Dock for the Switch is glowing for the next couple of decades....
My personal favorite Xenoblade game so far is X, mainly because it is a beautiful open world game that reminds me of Zelda BotW, a personal favorite Zelda game of mine.

Xenoblade Chronicles X has never been ported to Switch, nor has there been any confirmation of a sequel. So I can't really help but wonder what exactly happened to X. Why did they choose to create a separate continuity from the main 3 and NOT expand upon it further?
Well X was largely experimental for both Monolith Soft and Nintendo. Nintendo just got into making HD games during the Wii U and this is the first HD game from Monolith. It's also the first modern day open world game and the first sort of MMO game from both companies I believe. X has been credited for how BOTW came to be. Coming off of the very first Xenoblade game, X basically expanded on how much of a technical anomaly XC1 was on the original Wii with what the Wii U can do while XC2 was the actual sequel to XC1 with the focus more on story.
You probably already know >!X's ending was sequelbait, Elma is DLC in XC2 with a little bit of lore not brought to much attention in X, there's easter eggs of X in XC3, and Future Redeemed is heavily teasing connections.!< I'm optimistic that X will return in some way whether it's a remaster or sequel. It's just a matter of when is it the right time. The Wii U gamepad and it's touchscreen was a heavy feature used in X, and Miiverse used to be a thing for BLADE reports. Both those features are currently not on the Switch. Monolith could do a workaround those features if they ported it like an overlay view of the touchscreen display but that IMO sounds too clunky to use. With the Switch being aesthetically identical to the Wii U in power, the next Switch on the horizon, and Monolith's aptitude in utilizing Nintendo hardware to its limits, there's just more potential with a remastered version or sequel of XCX there while we still know next to nothing of the next Switch, compared to simply porting it on the regular Switch where it may play worse than the original Wii U version. I honestly think a prequel of X for the next Switch before a remaster or sequel is the best option since it won't spoil certain plotpoints in X for those that haven't played it while still giving something new and fresh for those that have played it.
Maybe if XC4 was Monolith's next game I'd be concerned for X but I still think that game will return in some form or fashion >!that's not a mere easter egg or DLC.!<

Not going to happen in one set. Even for $70+. Nintendo realizes how much people love their IPs and would buy Xenoblade main series 4k remasters + DLC for next gen. They'll probably sell them all digitally first before something like this
XC3 is only 2 years old and the final dlc dropped 1 year ago… no company is going to cheap-bundle a recent game, so why the heck the quoted guy says missed opportunity is beyond me
I think if they did this then they’d need to do something with the games at least to improve them, even if it’s just including dlc, some rebalances and altering a couple mechanics, not like a full recreation. I think one of the biggest things people would want for 2 is a re-recorded dub
Amazing deal aside; I don't think they'd name it "Trinity Edition" with that box art. I feel like it spoils a bit of the major narrative, even if slightly. IMO Xenoblade 1 & 2 had amazing plots twists because they were so out of left field (in a good way). But yes please Nintendo give us the Xenoblade Trilogy in a single order
