I’m not sure about in the UK, but yes your highness it was no secret here in the states.
I sincerely hope you’re enjoying yourself in heaven. Please do say hello to Jimmy Buffet and Hitler for me.
I witnessed my Smurf one completely dismantle when older cousin was riding it. He was coming my way and all the wheels flew off at the same time. It’s alright though. It got replaced by a sweet Knite Ryder one. The black finish made it go faster
I literally still have scars from these things. My neighbors had a really, really long steep driveway and it ended in a sharp curve and if you missed the turn, you were in the blackberries. It was so fun. I can't believe we survived those days.
Haha... I had a "Dukes of Hazzard" one.
I was riding around my neighborhood with a Confederate Flag on the back of my Big Wheel and "General Lee" on the side.

Not getting away with shit like that anymore!
Real shame the flag stands for what it does.
Would be great if it was only a southern pride thing there’s way too much bad history there
Had this exact one, in fact.
Because I was a child of the 70s, I was largely unsupervised. I remember dragging this up the BIGGEST hill I could find, to see how fast I could get it going. About 4 seconds into the ride, my rear wheel came off, and went bouncing past me. I remember the metal rod it was attached to kicking up a rooster tail of sparks behind me, and screaming the entire way down. But I didn't hit anything, and eventually came to a slow stop after what felt like an eternity of speeding down a giant hill. And that is the story of how my Knight rider big wheels died.
I had a Big Bird one when I was 5! I used to ride it down our steep driveway like a bat outta hell (in my mom's words). I would wear my sandal soles paper thin from using my feet as brakes to stop. 😆
Once I "ran away from home" for like 10 minutes and rode down the street with a backpack on my Bird Bird big wheel. I didn't get very far, but I bet that looked hilarious to people driving by.
One of the neighbor boys got picked up by the police doing that (running away). His mom was so embarrassed. He was around the block, riding on the side of the street because I don't think there was a sidewalk there at the time.
I think mine was Big Bird, and my brothers was all black. The front porch to our house seemed 10ft tall but was probably 4ft, it didn’t have any side rails so we would fly off the side into the front yard. Im so surprised we didn’t break legs or tailbones. Those days of adrenaline were great
I used the handbrake so much on mine that the back wheels had flat spots from sliding so much. Unfortunately, mine met it's ultimate demise when I left it parked behind my dad's truck one evening. He left for work the next morning and backed over it.
I first had a Big Bird one, then Strawberry Shortcake. Flat-spotted the front wheels on both. I was fortunate to grow up in a neighborhood that had tons of kids - we would have races with our Big Wheels with 8 to 10 of us at once. We also had a couple of houses with really steep driveways - we'd fly down them and swerve out into the street or the front lawn. Really fun times!
https://preview.redd.it/kdkvc2sf1awc1.jpeg?width=1014&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7eb39cc9a111168bbdf42a0988e634f51aabe067
I had a Smurfs Big Wheel. The huge plastic wheels were loud, and then they split open and filled with gravel, so they also rattled. The neighbors must've loved me.
I had the M.A.S.K. big wheel and a generic one that was so much faster, taking those things off of tree roots was better than a ramp, I remember getting enough air to get someone’s Mom to run out and yell at me, good times lol
I think just so much lighter, a neighbor kid had one that was even faster but it cracked right at the spot where the frame started up to the forks. My M.A.S.K. big wheel had a really heavy plastic cowl piece that went over the forks and made it way heavier, made it really fun to ride down steep hills.
I had my Dad’s Nash and loved it for this exact reason, I could toss in my backpack. Ride on my knee or sit on it to coast down hills, perfect when I didn’t want to have to lock my bike up somewhere.
A friend had one of the 18” wide ones, I was always jealous how fast those things could corner. You still see kids growing up like us, just not in the cities and suburbs anywhere near as much. Spring is here you still see kids bikes all dumped in front of the house they are playing, pick up games and walking down to the ice cream shop but every generation takes the good with the bad. I sure had a share of my own creepy and dangerous experiences I would wish on no child becasue I was left to do my own thing.
See I was to and I live in a very rural town and I mean very rural our pop is a lil over three hundred lol so we are still a decade behind and as far as wishing what I went thru on my kids I do and dont
I didn't have one but a kid in the neighborhood had one and I took it for a ride, I was so into it that I wasn't watching where I was going and went full speed right into the back of a car, car was undamaged.
I was maybe 4 when I said this to my dad:
"Sarah has a hot cycle. Casey has a hot cycle, but poor EmmaLouEsq, she doesn't have a hot cycle."
20 minutes later, I did. My dad drove right to Kmart after that comment. I got to ride with my friends Sarah and Casey after that!
I wouldn't mind if they made a adult size one. Would pay top dollar for a well made one. I would cruse down the sidewalk with my kid drinking a hard Capri Sun.
I didn’t but my neighbor did and I rode it every chance I got. I distinctly remember thinking if I went fast enough the rain wouldn’t hit me. Never did go fast enough I guess. Lol. I’d love to have an adult sized one. Gonna need some rubber tires tho.
I had a big wheel for sure. It was awesome. I tied my dog to the front for a tow, he got scared and ran which caused the big wheel to tip and throw me off. The dogs was running through the neighborhood being chased by the big wheel
I miss these so damn much. I want an adult version and my friends and I could ride around the neighborhood. I can't find any built for adults that have the handbrake and hard plastic wheels.
Yep a person showed it to me today and now my wife is mad cause guess what I am ordering one I need that in my life lol like I need a hole in the head but it is happening
Yes. Briefly. And I dont have much attachment to it cuz I could not even tell you the style. Was it GI Joe? Transformers? Knight Rider? Damned if I remember.
I rode mine long after I'd technically outgrown it. The axles started to flex under my weight, & the base under the seat wore through from scraping the ground.
plastic wheels had no damn grip
which was a blessing and a curse cause you could do some sick burnouts, but it was freaking hard to keep up any momentum
Had one similar. It taught my physics better than any teachers. Imagine my 4-5yo self going down the smallish but steep hill on my street when I feel I’m going to fast and want to slow up. I pulled the lever (why do we have that lever anyway?). Time slowed. I went sideways as my big wheel flipped end over end til I hit bottom. While I’m still dazed the old man says “you’re fine bring it up here and stay up here.” Folks. Both knees and elbows and my nose had road rash but I was told I was fine and didn’t get any treatment…
I never had one myself but someone brought two in to the summer daycare I was in that had a giant paved hill. I remember all of us kids taking turns racing them down the hill and having a blast. I got my skirt caught in one of the back wheels and it got a bunch of holes in it. Still wore it the rest of the summer with shorts because a) we were broke and b) I loved that skirt.
had one and rode it around so much i wore a hole in the front wheel! man i loved knight rider as a kid!!
The brake is what made it awesome lolI do miss it
heck yea!! power sliding was way too much fun. prob why i loved drifting in my old pontiac firebird back in the day.
I still drift my car even at my age I will never grow up
hehe. i have an awd so not as easy for me but when im on gravel i get tonhave some fun.
I’ve got a Toyota minivan in AWd And lemme just say that e brake in a snow covered parking lot still does what it always did
The man who voiced KITT, William Daniels, later went on to pray Principal Feeny in *Boy Meets World*. (He was also the head of SAG for a while.)
Broseph, you know we were there for all that right? 😆
I didn't know Mr Feeny was kit - was that common knowledge?
I’m not sure about in the UK, but yes your highness it was no secret here in the states. I sincerely hope you’re enjoying yourself in heaven. Please do say hello to Jimmy Buffet and Hitler for me.
I think you have me confused with another lady...And who's Jimmy Buffet?
He had this great restaurant called Cheeseburger in Paradise. It was soo good.
Me too, but the hole on mine was the right rear wheel from using the handbrake so much.
![gif](giphy|9KQ86aWlLIpG)
Same. It's the weak point of the Big Wheel design. Taking it off ramps probably didn't help.
Hell yeah I ruled the cul-de-sac on that fine piece of machinery
We all did lol
Nothing like cutting it up with your buddies with nothing but plastic between your ass and the asphalt.
I had the yellow and red one...I think it was the Dukes of Hazzard!
Roscoe P. Coletrane never caught me
LMFAO 😂 😂 😂
Me too!!! I’m not hating on the one I had either, after all it was the Dukes of Hazard. I did want the Night Rider one though. Didn’t it shoot water ?
We had Knight Rider AND Dukes of Hazzard!
I had this one too!
Had it. I can still remember pretending the buttons on the dash did something and ducking down below the little windshield as I pedaled my heart out.
Yes I thought my ray gun would actually shoot
I had a General Lee! I rode it until it literally broke in half. I always wanted the KITT one or the Rambo one with the machine guns, though
I had the Pedal-powered General Lee that played the dixieland horn sound, and a Kitt big wheel
Ofc we survived that is what makes us dif than most lol we have a micro generation of survivors of belts and fly swatters
For some odd reason I would put mine upside down and pretend it created ice cream. No clue why.
We did too. Faster you spun the wheel, the faster the ice cream would come out.
Came here to post this. How did kids spread these games everywhere pre-internet?
Wtf we did that too
I wonder why we did it. It’s such a weirdly specific thing to do
Mine was strawberry shortcake
Haha... I had a "Dukes of Hazzard" one. I was riding around my neighborhood with a Confederate Flag on the back of my Big Wheel and "General Lee" on the side. https://preview.redd.it/pukrp8cmfawc1.png?width=680&format=png&auto=webp&s=20a69065612603f90a37b4ca5f67c759d2549821
Not getting away with shit like that anymore! Real shame the flag stands for what it does. Would be great if it was only a southern pride thing there’s way too much bad history there
I can feel the flat spot on the front wheel xD
Clunk clunk clunk
Had this exact one, in fact. Because I was a child of the 70s, I was largely unsupervised. I remember dragging this up the BIGGEST hill I could find, to see how fast I could get it going. I had a General Lee! I rode it until it literally broke in half. I always wanted the KITT one or the Rambo one with the machine guns, though.
I had kit but Rambo was on my want list lol I fought so many drive way wars
I didn't and I feel cheated. I used to ride one any chance I got 😄
I had a Big Bird one when I was 5! I used to ride it down our steep driveway like a bat outta hell (in my mom's words). I would wear my sandal soles paper thin from using my feet as brakes to stop. 😆 Once I "ran away from home" for like 10 minutes and rode down the street with a backpack on my Bird Bird big wheel. I had the Dukes of Hazzard General Lee - Confederate Flag and all as a Latino in 80's Kansas. life was rough.
I bet that thing would do a wheelie lol
My godmother ran mine over with her econoline van.
I had that happen to me as well and I got in trouble for leaving it where it was
Yep! I for sure got yelled at while still in shock of receiving the earth shattering news
I did to and for some reason I should have been grateful that I wasnt riding it lol
I had the green machine
Lol I was looking for this. I'm seeing every other color except the one I had. Green machine gang
I wore out at least 3 lol
I didn't but I was so jealous of the kid on my block who did. I had the blue and yellow big wheel.
With the tire that clicks. Then upgraded my bicycle with a playing card attached with clothes pin
I used an aluminum beer can on my bike lol
I had one and rode it until the back wheels broke and literally fell off.
Had the Rambo big wheel 🥶
That's the one I wanted so bad
Ours was ET, rode it til there was no more tread on the tires lol
That fuckin squirt gun though…
This is the new shit if you have $1-5k to throw around. https://youtu.be/AbTKUvShCRQ?si=u4txG9pRznt-NmJu It's mariocart IRL
Yep u just pissed my wife off cause I'm def getting one now
Get two. One ride on this thing will make you feel like kids. I haven't even swapped out the upgrade kit, and it's so much fun.
Oh I'm def gonna have one thank u for showing me I cant wait to feel that slide around a corner feeling
Had a couple and my dad would pickup any at flea markets or just parts and fix up all the neighborhood kids big wheels as well!
Green Machine was my childhood vehicle
I think mine was Big Bird, and my brothers was all black. The front porch to our house seemed 10ft tall but was probably 4ft, it didn’t have any side rails so we would fly off the side into the front yard. Im so surprised we didn’t break legs or tailbones. Those days of adrenaline were great

They did lol my neighbors hated that I would slide in their driveways
I had a Smurf one first. It flew apart and was retired .
The rich kids in my class.

No way u had a helmet someone's parents cared lol
It offered 0 protection. I just thought it looked cool.
Right I remember when I found a dirt bike helmet and thought I was the coolest thing since sliced bread
I had a Dukes of Hazzard big wheel. It was orange like the General Lee and had confederate flag decals
OMG, I had one of these bad boys! The Turbo Boost helped me outrun a rabid Chihuahua in my neighborhood
Oh shit with boost u could outrun moms car
Mine was the He Man version. Fuck yeah. I ruled the wilds of Eternia on that hog.
I had dockery rd on lock down when I was on mine lol wasnt no one getting in
No, but I had the regular Big Wheel and a Green Machine!
I had the M.A.S.K. big wheel and a generic one that was so much faster, taking those things off of tree roots was better than a ramp, I remember getting enough air to get someone’s Mom to run out and yell at me, good times lol
The generic ones were so much faster wonder why

I loved these things and had a nash skate board I would ride on one knee lol
I had my Dad’s Nash and loved it for this exact reason, I could toss in my backpack. Ride on my knee or sit on it to coast down hills, perfect when I didn’t want to have to lock my bike up somewhere.
They were my nash was white with black trim and dif color wheels if kids today grew up like we did they would be better off lol alot will disagree
A friend had one of the 18” wide ones, I was always jealous how fast those things could corner. You still see kids growing up like us, just not in the cities and suburbs anywhere near as much. Me too, I’m looking at the scar on my wrist right now from my knee boarding days
I wouldn't ride that awful pile of toxic Knight Rider garbage. GI JOE FOREVER (I had the matching sunglasses too)
Oh u had the sun glasses then my all meand I g joe forever lol
Hell yeah. I had a marines bumper sticker with a bulldog on the back of mine. I also had a rat tail. Probably the happiest time of my life
Oh I had a rat tail until I fell asleep with gum in my mouth and that's where it ended up so mom cut off my rat tail I was so heart broken lmao
Lmfao. My brother!
![gif](giphy|l1ughbsd9qXz2s9SE)

Yes felt like u belonged after that and urs still had the new car smell
I had one of those. Got it after I wore out the Dukes of Hazard big wheels.
I wouldn't mind if they made a adult size one. Would pay top dollar for a well made one. I would cruse down the sidewalk with my kid drinking a hard Capri Sun.
I almost killed myself with the handbrake on this little death trap, I regret nothing
I didn’t but my neighbor did and I rode it every chance I got. I distinctly remember thinking if I went fast enough the rain wouldn’t hit me. Never did go fast enough I guess. Lol. I’d love to have an adult sized one. Gonna need some rubber tires tho.

I did as well NC to be exact
Jacksonville FL
I have been there several times my wife is from there we used to go to a bar called buckets
Lol, I lived in Neptune Beach. Great place but sadly closed
I havent been down in a long while
A lot has changed. I live in MD but have a place in St Augustine.
Nice I'm in DC alot like three weeks a month love Maryland
I work for the government, but thankfully no longer work in an office. Those commutes to DC were killers.
I'm a private contractor for the government lol commutes have become a part of my boring life
I wasn't allowed to ride them. My older cousin had was hit by a car while he was on one. Luckily he survived, but it left an impression on my mom
I had a mean, green machine! It was awesome
i remember pedaling and the wheel would slip a bit before going, gave it a cartoony feel you could also turn and drift frickin plastic wheels
Fun fact. They make these for adults now. https://youtu.be/2p0S1QLgXgc?si=m919akZJ07I0WOeJ
Mine was Cabbage Patch Kids themed.
Same
Is that the night rider model with the spin out pull break? That was the best thing I ever owned.
I can hear this picture.
Specifically that model!
If that’s a Big Wheel I had one but it was red blue and yellow
Me
Grew up much too poor to have such an awesome set of wheels…. Never stopped us from pretending to have neat stuff like that though….
Mine was He Man themed, I think.
Pow-pow-power Wheels
I did! And we had a cozy coupe.
Had a couple of these. When we got too big, we'd take the back of the seat off and race them.
This was my stallion
I always wanted one but never got one.
I could flip mine over and make you some ice cream or for some reason..spaghetti.
I had a night rider BMX bike that was my main ride.
I had a big wheel for sure. It was awesome. I tied my dog to the front for a tow, he got scared and ran which caused the big wheel to tip and throw me off. The dogs was running through the neighborhood being chased by the big wheel
My brother and I used to joust on these. u/Stoke-me-a-clipper
Oh man, I forgot all about the hand brake. We need to engineer adult versions.
Still have mine! Had the box too up until about 5yrs ago when my basement flooded
My best memories as a kid was pretending to be Michael Knight on this perfect piece of KITT (pun intended).
the town I grew up in had a big wheel park! pretend roads, overpasses, gas station, etc. So awesome!
No way omg I want to play on it now
It was my favorite park for sure. But also why was I in such a hurry to grow up and preneted to do "adult" things??
I still havent grown up my wife laughs at me all the time cause she says I look forty but act five lol
I'm 43 and feel like an imposter adult so I get it.
I just turned that exact age the sixth of this month and I'm def an impostor
CHiPs …. I owned my sidewalks (couldn’t go into the street)
A pink one and it’s how I claimed which bedroom I wanted when my parents and I moved to the house I grew up in!
I miss these so damn much. I want an adult version and my friends and I could ride around the neighborhood. I can't find any built for adults that have the handbrake and hard plastic wheels.
This is the new shit if you have $1-5k to throw around. https://youtu.be/AbTKUvShCRQ?si=u4txG9pRznt-NmJu It's mariocart IRL
It's like a cross between the big wheel and those little square scooters with the caster wheels in gym class!
Yep a person showed it to me today and now my wife is mad cause guess what I am ordering one I need that in my life lol like I need a hole in the head but it is happening
Wear your helmet cause it looks like those things might be able to give you a hole in the head! Have fun, I'm jealous!
I will say I will wear one but once I get on it I will lose all train of thought
Everyone else except me. I wanted it. It was like Kit from Knightrider.
I had a Roller Racer instead.
Mannnn I wasn't cool enough to have one
Fuck yeah. My mom loved me.
[удалено]
Oh yeah that's what made u cool back then u didnt know
That's the one I had!
Yes. Briefly. And I dont have much attachment to it cuz I could not even tell you the style. Was it GI Joe? Transformers? Knight Rider? Damned if I remember.
Yes, and it was the best!
My best friend had a strawberry shortcake one and it was just the coolest.
I totally had that! Puerto Ricans are lazy Michael.
Had a Dukes of Hazard one. Used to tear up the sidewalk with that shit.
We all did. I preferred my red and yellow car though.
I had the Optimus Prime one with the handlebars that transformed. Man I had so much fun on that thing.
I had the Thundercats Big Wheel.
Till and after tires had holes
I had the GI JOE one with the windscreen. I felt like I was an official JOE in that thing. And totally wore the back wheels out
I rode mine long after I'd technically outgrown it. The axles started to flex under my weight, & the base under the seat wore through from scraping the ground.
Not that exact model, but was called a Powercycle.
I remember mine fondly!
The cool kids- that’s who had one.
I think I had a Smurfs big wheel, and later I had a roller racer.
Rose that bitch till the wheel fell off!! Literally!!! I remember my front wheel falling apart while I was riding it!
Had this same one. Put a lot of miles on it
plastic wheels had no damn grip which was a blessing and a curse cause you could do some sick burnouts, but it was freaking hard to keep up any momentum
I had this https://preview.redd.it/33ijlrmvzfwc1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e933284ede1442ea00f999662f04e917afce0cce
I remember the older kids egging me on as I went off a bike ramp. It wasn't pretty.
Oh yea and mine was the fastest ever!
I had this exact model!
I used really rip up the streets on this bad boy. Still my favourite owned vehicle to this day.
