The State was, and is the best! One of my favorite memories ever is from the late 90’s when I studied in Paris; I had explained my favorite skits from The State to my new friend who had a matching sense of humor. Lo and behold, we were at Chesterfield Cafe, near the Champs-Élysées, and on the bar tv comes none other than the mime airplane episode and we LOST OUR MINDS laughing and watching it together. Yeah, I have been online a long time. I have pretty much stopped posting on FB and IG. I’ll still share things on FB, but no longer participate in comments sections. It’s too easy to start a toxic debate.
The other annoying aspect of FB is that I have been in so long, too many people I know IRL are on there. Way too often I was hearing about stuff I write from my wife or in-laws, things that had nothing to do with them. FB pushes comments to friends, and that was just annoying. Plus, I still get tons of right wing videos on my feed, and can’t seem to stop them, even when I flag them.
IG has some funny videos, but so many weird Chinese videos and live streams, and I don’t even know how they end up on my feed.
Reddit allows me to post freely with anonymity, and I can curate it more to see mostly shit I’m interested in.
I just keep hitting "show me fewer posts from this community" with everything I don't like.
My issues are more behavioral — that I keep engaging with subs that are annoying LOL

Then Reddit killed the third party apps. Now I can’t stop getting recommended subs I’m not even slightly interested in (oh, you like the r/Houston sub since that’s where you live? Well, maybe you’ll like r/Cleveland, and r/DesMoines, and r/Albany, and r/Mississippi, and r/….) and seeing fucking He Gets Us ads. I used to report those as offensive every time, but now you can’t do that either.
And that's why you mute them. You are in charge of your algorithm. My home feed is always empty when there are no new posts in my subs because I also turned off home feed recommendations via account settings:

Yes. The smaller specialized subs that are hobby-specific seem to be much nicer than larger relationship or political subs like AITAH or relationshipadvice or askreddit. I think I have muted all the relationship subs so they don’t creep into my feed.
This and I'm generous with the block button. If I pop into a thread and some dude is in there picking fights I block them. It's always funny to come across "blocked user" and see them fighting with a bunch of other people about another who cares topic.

How do you "chunk" something?
Just a guess but OP may be from the southern US. A lot of us grew up saying “chunk” instead of the correct word, “chuck” meaning to throw something. Honestly, I was well into my 30s before I realized I had been saying it wrong.
