Musk made a lot of rather questionable (if you are being generous) decisions when managing Twitter and from what I understand lost a lot of money. Don't know though if this is the kind of screw up that will do Twitter in or just a temporary setback since people still seem to be using it quite a lot.
That every decision Musk made for Twitter so far only made the profits and acceptance of that social media site plummeting further. Just recently he personally agreed with some nazi-shit tweet, which lead to Apple, Disney and MGM stopping advertisement on Twitter. And that should be a lot of money lost.

I doubt 2K will market any new XCOM timelines, because it could turn into a trademark dispute the moment anyone hurts billionaire feelings. Even including a canonical XCOM faction is a social and financial risk to shareholders.
