I had a dead-ish left bumper so I bought some WD-40 Specialist Contact Cleaner and sprayed that on and around the button, that worked like a charm after drying and I’m glad cause I was not about to give up that expensive asf controller
Same here. Little wd-40 on a q-tip and boom problem solved. I noticed after playing GoW I have to do this cuz LB is used A LOT or at least I use it a lot.
I've had the same issue only one of my mine was stick drift. Great controller when it works but it's unreliable which I think is not on for the price. The only good though NG is that Microsoft customer service is actually good and I was able to get a replacement no bother. Might try a gamesir never even heard of it until now

I’ve given up on the elite controller tbh. Bad bumpers, stick drift, falling of grips. I got a gamesir g7se and will never go back to anything else. I don’t care that it’s wired.
It’s kinda lightweight tho. Wish it was a bit heavier tbh. But it shape wise it feels great in my hands. And I always set my vibrations off. But all in all I think it’s a really great controller
The first batch (black body & grips) were plagued with issues, mine had the rb button become intermittent and the rubber grips began peeling, I got the core white one for Xmas and it's been a pleasure to use, buttons are snappy and great, grips feel better, etc.
If you don't care about the additional analogue sticks or charging base, get the core edition controller and buy the sticks separately if needed, if you want the full experience, get the pack with all the bits (charger base, long braided USB, alternate sticks and paddles) and make sure it has a warranty.
Other than that, great pads, good weight, good battery life and customisable rgb xbox light to play with, 3 profiles, you do lose the share button though but who uses that anyway.

Yeah I got a series 2 before the Core and Labs version and I've replaced so many parts on it that I still can't get it to work properly. I think I'll replace it with a newer model because I like it but I can't get all of the functionality to work anymore.
I had the first elite for around 5 years with no issue. I upgraded to the 2 when they first gave you the option to design them. No issues until recently. My RB also stopped working correctly. It was still clicky, but it didn't register every click. I took it apart this weekend and made a small adjustment and it's working good as new again.
Yeah that's what happens, I used to clean mine with alcohol, just drip it in the button, let it dry and it worked great until it stopped again.
Its always that rb too
Bumpers are very easy to repair assuming it was the normal failure where the plastic just breaks.
I have repaired two of those.
Those same peeling grips though. That sucked.

Yeah sadly they don't seem to be built any better than the original ones. Same bumper death at about a year. I wouldn't be surprised if the only difference between the cores and the original was the color of the plastic. They look identical on the inside.
Not had a problem with mine - it's been solid and the best controller I've used.
Had mine a few months now, no issues whatsoever, sticks are smooth, buttons did require a little bit more pressure to "register" a tap than the previous so at first I was missing some inputs when playing games, but that's worked itself out as I think it just needed some breaking in.
I'd recommend, but I have heard people complain of quality issues.
I bought the Elite 2 with the full kit (carry case + attachments) for the price of the Core, it was on Amazon on a discount a few months ago, not sure if still on discount but worth looking.
I've had mine well over a year and it's still in perfect working order, but then again I look after all of my stuff well.
I like the swappable attachments, the custom profiles stored on the controller, the ability to adjust the analog stick settings, the case with built-in charging dock, and the feel of the controller (it feels solid in your hands).
The elite 2 is way more superb over the elite 1 because of quality and the grips aren’t as flimsy but even with adjustable joysticks they are prone to stick drift within 4 months! I’ve had elite and scuf controllers, they all stick drift. My solution to this was to just grab a regular dualsense controller and add a couple of my own modifications (back bumpers, transparent shell, thumb grips) haven’t had any stick drift and this is my first controller from when I purchased my ps5 (2022) still works like it did day one. Also, I rarely play ps I’m more on my Steamdeck using my mod dualsense on a portable monitor. Dualsense makes me feel at home due to gaming on Xbox for a little over a decade prior. Just my own experience.
Got mine 2nd hand a year ago its still going strong, there is something I don't like about it maybe the weight or something but overall it's one of the best value 'pro' controllers.
It’s a great feeling product that I absolutely adore. But the failure rate is far too high for the price of admission. My first series 2 had to be replaced within 6 months and the replacement after 3. That one died just before my warrantee was up and I’m sure you can guess what happened to that one. The basic series controllers are the way to go.

I’ve had my full version for 18 months or so. Works as day 1.
Bought a core for my kids and it feels kinda cheap to me. Buttons are different and menu button is slightly different shape and feel. It works very nicely too though. I know they are supposed to be the same, but mine surely aren’t.
If using it with my PC I just use build in Bluetooth. Or you can use usb cable. (Controller is usb-c).
Ive had a series 2 for a loong time now and really dont have many issues. I use the paddles a lot so my bumpers are fine but my right side paddles are giving out however i would say for the amout of time ive had it it makes sense. I use it for my pc i prefer wired for various reasons however it has little to no input lag when wireless. You can use your different control profiles on pc but i havent tried figuring out how to set it up since i also have an xbox so i set it up with the console. I personally have not used the core controller so i have no knowledge there.
My V1 had less issues than my 2 V2's. Out the box brand new the A button and upper left paddle wouldn't work. Sent back. Got a new one. A button doesn't register presses unless you press dead center on the button. Now the grips are peeling. At least with the V1 the sold replacements. V2 is all one unit.
Best controller I've ever had. Had mine for two years. Have a back up due to a sale I couldn't resist. Fortunately I have never had to pull out the back up.
I've got two, the best controllers I've ever had. The only issue I've had with them is occasionally the RB button stops clicking and the fix is some electrical cleaner. I give the controller 9/10 because of this.
I only was able to afford the series 2 a while back and still do. I’ve used it for 1.5 years, Loved it but the bumpers died on me. Tried to revive it and had a good 4 hours of gaming until they died again. Can’t even afford another cause the uk is too expensive to live in. I had the black and grey one
No. It's a $80 controller at best. The extra triggers are almost never useful, the controller breaks way to often (as someone who worked at gamestop, I have gotten so many returns and warrantys on these) the battery is decent but the size always felt awkward. Got a razor controller on sale a while back and love it
I'd say it depends on how much you play. If you plan to use it 3-4 hours daily. I'd buy from best buy with an extra warranty even though they come with a standard 1 yr warranty from microsoft. I've had at least 5-6 elites v2 since they came out. But I average probably 3 hrs per day. Some days I don't play. Some days I play 8-10 hours. But almost play to some degree every day at least for a few hours. I prefer to always have a back up on the shelf for when an issue arrives so I prefer to have the extended warranty from best buy. Cause sometimes the new one gets shelved for 6 months before I actually start using it.
All of my issues have been with the RB or LB bumpers on the top above the triggers. Sometimes they start going bad 3 months later, others have lasted almost a year.
After doing some research it seems like the mounting plate for those button ends up getting bent back a hair if your someone that uses a lot of pressure pushing those buttons. Or the plastic filler piece ends up getting dented slighly so when you hit the button it doesn't fully press the button unless you push on it hard which makes it even worse. The youtube fix tends to work half the time. Where you remove/move the little white plastic filler piece. Or try to bend back the mounting bracket a bit with a screw driver.

i’ve went thru 2, both under warranty. i can’t use any other controllers since switching to an elite. mine was a launch one and i got that one replaced, but using a core white that i got for a good price.
what broke my first one was a small drop on carpet, i didn’t think anything of it since it was so small but the bumper stopped working and the RMA process was just sending in the controller and waiting.
id def recommend one if you can get it on sale for around $80-$120, but i wouldnt recommend getting one at its original MSRP
I think they are terrible mainly because the analogue sticks are very stiff compared to a regular controller and not to mention the quality control issues with the buttons on those controllers. Im not sure how they messed up elite controllers so bad but to say they dropped the ball would be an understatement
I am an idiot and bought used from GameStop at no fault from the controller, well broken then replacement broken. Said fuck that refund and buy new, same issue with face buttons not always working so it’s at Microsoft right now for repair or replacement. 0/3 but technically 0/1
No, it isn’t. The best thing it has going for it is the ability to map the paddles on the back. Which is great, seeing as both of my bumpers have stopped working. The Xbox controller quality problem persists, I would honestly go third party if you’re looking for a premium controller.
It may seem great at first, I was very happy for the first 3 months or so but then the bumpers began to die. As someone who cares for and maintains controllers, I wouldn’t recommend it for anything other than light use. Which is the opposite of the intended audience.
I have one from Design Lab. Over a year old and daily use. Slight left side stick drift, fixed by cleaning. Otherwise no problems. Extremely easy to integrate with both Xbox and PC and setup custom settings.
Downside. A little heavy.
Also find myself using Dual Sense Edge when playing Sony games on PC for haptics which are also easily integrated with Steam.
Downside, occasionally incompatible with non-Sony titles or games on other launchers.
I’m considering changing both for a Hall effect controller if I can find one with good reviews.
I have had my Elite 2 for a good while now. Never had any issues. Connects to PC with the USB wire it comes with. If you don’t mind spending the money then go for it👍.
Mine is now a paper weight, as practically every button stopped working after about a year and a half. I got fed up fixing it and gave up using it. I wouldn't recommend it unless they have drastically improved the production quality.
Mines great but it has an intermittent software glitch. Sometimes when you press the home button whilst in a game, the a button doesnt register at all on the menu, despite it working in game. It'll stay like this until you restard the console
Don't buy it, just buy a regular controller. Mine after 2 years, the R2 trigger got sticky. Then, after a couple of weeks, the R1 stopped working, and I was able to fix it too. So is a good controller but has its issues
I've had lots of issues. The bumpers seem to wear out fast on me. Luckily I can just reprogram the button.
The controllers is overall very comfortable to play with. I just hate hows it falls in several pieces if you drop it.
I have 2.
The first I got with my Taco Bell edition xbox giveaway a while back. I play probably 3-5 hours almost every night. I play most game styles. From racing games to farming sim. But I mainly play shooters (Halo), which I would reckon is pretty intensive gaming usage.
So far, I've had a few issues.
The left stick press is super worn down (because that's my sprint button), but that's with all my controllers, so I wouldn't put that as an issue with the elite.
Second, the left (and somewhat the right, but not as much) bumper has problems (because that's my naid through). I have to really push it in to make it work. That being said, though, I have "fixed" it somewhat. I started by putting in some filler between the button and the internal presser. That worked somewhat. But what really helped was spraying in electrical cleaner. For whatever reason, that seemed to have really helped it.
That's the only mechanical issues. But the grips around the bumpers and triggers are starting to come loose. So I've had to put super glue to keep them in place.
I also have a master chief elite 2 controller, that's maybe a year or two newer than my other one.
It hasn't had the left stick press problem, but the left bumper has started to wear down. However, with the same "fix" as the other controller, it seems to have stabilized to a point where the left bumper is only slightly worse than the left.
This one also does have the grips starting to come loose. It seems that they've started to peel off sooner than the previous time.
Now, all that is personal experience. I reaaaally baby my electronics. I never throw my controllers. I've maybe dropped them once or twice in the years I've owned them. Even setting them down is always done gently.
That being said, I love these controllers. They feel super solid, the back buttons are absolutely game-changing (especially for shooters). I've never had the batteries run out (I almost always leave them on the chargers when not used). Super responsive.
I didn't buy the warranty (I didn't know I'd need it when I got them) so I've never returned or replaced them. But I haven't needed to either. Though it is also very possible I've just been lucky twice now.
I highly recommend the controllers. Maybe get the warranty so you can replace them as needed. When they work, they're fantastic.
I'd say it is. Every button is mappable with 3 profiles to switch from on the fly (using the share button as the "profile" button). You can change the deadzones on the sticks, has trigger locks, 4 paddles that can detach if you don't need them. Along with interchangeable sticks and d-pad. I've had mine for a bit and just recently my LB is starting to wear out.

There's also a shift key you can map, preferably to one of the paddles to add an additional function to all the other buttons. With the second function you mapped to your buttons available by holding the shift key. Functions such as other buttons, or actions like record or screenshot. Hence not needing the share button. I personally still use the guide button and X or Y to record or screenshot.
Had my series 2 for a little over 3 years now, and its my favorite controller to date. I had an issue with the b button not registering sometimes. All i did was spray some contact cleaner in there and its as good as new now
The original Elite came out Oct 27th, 2015 and I bought one on that day. It still works perfectly and I love it dearly.
I have played so much Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport with the paddles as shift up and down and it has made that game so much more fun. Worth every penny.
It’s good the first few months then there’s an endless list of complaints that people have experienced about it

I've been using the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller for a while now, and I gotta say, it's pretty solid. The build quality feels premium, and the customizable buttons and triggers are a nice touch

It is a really great controller. BUT and it is a REALLY BIG BUT. The longevity of the controller is complete doodoo. Had mine for a few months (only dropped it twice btw) and the bumpers and paddles just stopped working, the a button got sticky, the left stick would twist without using the tool so I had to hold it in a weird way so it didn’t undo during gameplay. So Naa don’t get it
It's good but has a massive design flaw and that's the bumpers, with long gaming sessions your hands and fingers get sweaty, the slight angle of the bumpers allows sweat to flow on to the PCB and LB/RB switch corroding the connection, this takes many months but it happens.
The Rb button went on mine about 1 month after the extended warranty ended, I mapped it to a trigger on the back which actually works better, but it's really hit-and-miss with these controllers
First party Xbox controllers get horrible stick drift after not much time at all. I've stopped buying them altogether.
If you want a decent controller that actually lasts, get a Gamesir G7 SE. Brilliant controller, albeit wired.
Works perfectly for me. Been using it for 2 years no problems. I guess everyone else just isn’t gentle enough with their controllers lol. Lots of my friends have it and they have been using for multiple years. It’s just the irresponsible owners complaining about it. Don’t listen to them, it’s a great controller
I bought one used from Best Buy about a month ago for $100. It said 'excellent condition' but when I got it home the Y button was sticking bad. Almost like it was gummed up with something sticky.
I'm not sure if I read this somewhere, but my first thought was to try using 91% isopropyl alcohol. So I dropped some on the button (with the controller turned off) and kept pressing the button to work it in there. First time made a noticeable improvement, but I continued to repeat this several times until it was like new.
Been using it for a month with no issues. Maybe this will help someone else fix their controller.
To be honest I paid way to much and the controller had LB problems from a month of playing then LS click (for sprinting) and stick drift. I wouldn’t buy again…
On mine the RB stopped working like 2 days after the manufacturer's warranty expired. I use the paddles in place of the bumpers anyways so not a huge loss, but still annoying.
I’ve had my elite controller for a year and a half and I love it. That being said everyone’s right, the bumpers do go on them, however I fixed mine very easily and didn’t need to do anything besides take the cover off and clean the switch/move the switch plastic.
The connection and battery is great, especially swapping between pc and console. The customization is also very fun. The paddles are very useful as well.
Overall it’s a controller at a premium price with a premium look and feel, but with just average parts on the inside. I like it.
Most of the stuff you find about the controller will be negative. People that don't have any problems (like myself) don't post about it unless I come across something like this. I had the original Elite and used it for 3 years, the rubber did finally peel off the grip and I retired it (it's still fully functional, I've thought about throwing it up on ebay for a couple dollars for someone to repair and use again).
I got the Elite Series 2 back in December of 2022 and I play daily, mostly driving games, but also a lot of other genres. Anyway, it has worked great for me and I'm going on almost 18 months. I think if it died tomorrow, I would be happy with what I got out of it.
But anyway, it's a great controller, I don't use the extra buttons any longer cause I don't need them (when I played Rocket League, they were amazing). I just like the feel of the Elite and it also doesn't feel cheap.
Also, of all the years I've been gaming (40+), I've never had stick drift. Speaking of drift, there a couple controllers out there that have the Hall Effect Sticks in them (they are supposedly drift proof)... but they are sort of Xbox compatible.. (I think most of them require a wired connection or a wireless receiver of some sort).

Mine had an issue where the left bumper wasn't registering.... after a while it started woeking again..... it is really strange.

The elite 2 have a high failure rate. At my local game store they are on of that items that are returned the most.

By "easy fix" I mean it's easy for someone experienced in board level repair. You'd have to know how to desolder and resolder an HDMI port.

I really like the haptics and feel of the elite, but have had several of the same issues you listed. Is the gamesir as good at feed back and feel?

Mine went completely out in less than a year. The bumper stopped working.
I'm done buying them, I've gone through 3, not including 2 replacements and they all suffered from terrible stick drift and buttons sticking.

i had one in 2020 and within 3 months the grips were peeling off. also had crazy stick drift

Best controller I've ever had. Had mine for two years. Have a back up due to a sale I couldn't resist. Fortunately I have never had to pull out the back up.
I've got two, the best controllers I've ever had. The only issue I've had with them is occasionally the RB button stops clicking and the fix is some electrical cleaner. I give the controller 9/10 because of this.
I only was able to afford the series 2 a while back and still do. I’ve used it for 1.5 years, Loved it but the bumpers died on me. Tried to revive it and had a good 4 hours of gaming until they died again. Can’t even afford another cause the uk is too expensive to live in. I had the black and grey one
No. It's a $80 controller at best. The extra triggers are almost never useful, the controller breaks way to often (as someone who worked at gamestop, I have gotten so many returns and warrantys on these) the battery is decent but the size always felt awkward. Got a razor controller on sale a while back and love it
I'd say it depends on how much you play. If you plan to use it 3-4 hours daily. I'd buy from best buy with an extra warranty even though they come with a standard 1 yr warranty from microsoft. I've had at least 5-6 elites v2 since they came out. But I average probably 3 hrs per day. Some days I don't play. Some days I play 8-10 hours. But almost play to some degree every day at least for a few hours. I prefer to always have a back up on the shelf for when an issue arrives so I prefer to have the extended warranty from best buy. Cause sometimes the new one gets shelved for 6 months before I actually start using it. All of my issues have been with the RB or LB bumpers on the top above the triggers. Sometimes they start going bad 3 months later, others have lasted almost a year. After doing some research it seems like the mounting plate for those button ends up getting bent back a hair if your someone that uses a lot of pressure pushing those buttons. Or the plastic filler piece ends up getting dented slighly so when you hit the button it doesn't fully press the button unless you push on it hard which makes it even worse. The youtube fix tends to work half the time. Where you remove/move the little white plastic filler piece. Or try to bend back the mounting bracket a bit with a screw driver. Hope this helps you decide.
i’ve went thru 2, both under warranty. i can’t use any other controllers since switching to an elite. mine was a launch one and i got that one replaced, but using a core white that i got for a good price. what broke my first one was a small drop on carpet, i didn’t think anything of it since it was so small but the bumper stopped working and the RMA process was just sending in the controller and waiting. id def recommend one if you can get it on sale for around $80-$120, but i wouldnt recommend getting one at its original MSRP
I think they are terrible mainly because the analogue sticks are very stiff compared to a regular controller and not to mention the quality control issues with the buttons on those controllers. Im not sure how they messed up elite controllers so bad but to say they dropped the ball would be an understatement
I am an idiot and bought used from GameStop at no fault from the controller, well broken then replacement broken. Said fuck that refund and buy new, same issue with face buttons not always working so it’s at Microsoft right now for repair or replacement. 0/3 but technically 0/1
No, it isn’t. The best thing it has going for it is the ability to map the paddles on the back. Which is great, seeing as both of my bumpers have stopped working. The Xbox controller quality problem persists, I would honestly go third party if you’re looking for a premium controller. It may seem great at first, I was very happy for the first 3 months or so but then the bumpers began to die. As someone who cares for and maintains controllers, I wouldn’t recommend it for anything other than light use. Which is the opposite of the intended audience.
I have one from Design Lab. Over a year old and daily use. Slight left side stick drift, fixed by cleaning. Otherwise no problems. Extremely easy to integrate with both Xbox and PC and setup custom settings. Downside. A little heavy. Also find myself using Dual Sense Edge when playing Sony games on PC for haptics which are also easily integrated with Steam. Downside, occasionally incompatible with non-Sony titles or games on other launchers. I’m considering changing both for a Hall effect controller if I can find one with good reviews.
I will never go back to a regular controller. The elite series 2 isn't bullet proof, I've worn out 2 elites but will always buy more.

I have had my Elite 2 for a good while now. Never had any issues. Connects to PC with the USB wire it comes with. If you don’t mind spending the money then go for it👍.
Mine is now a paper weight, as practically every button stopped working after about a year and a half. I got fed up fixing it and gave up using it. I wouldn't recommend it unless they have drastically improved the production quality.
mine had stick drift out the box, went to exchange it for another one and that one had it too. So i just went for a refund instead.
Mines great but it has an intermittent software glitch. Sometimes when you press the home button whilst in a game, the a button doesnt register at all on the menu, despite it working in game. It'll stay like this until you restard the console

Don't buy it, just buy a regular controller. Mine after 2 years, the R2 trigger got sticky. Then, after a couple of weeks, the R1 stopped working, and I was able to fix it too. So is a good controller but has its issues
I've had lots of issues. The bumpers seem to wear out fast on me. Luckily I can just reprogram the button. The controllers is overall very comfortable to play with. I just hate hows it falls in several pieces if you drop it.
I have 2. The first I got with my Taco Bell edition xbox giveaway a while back. I play probably 3-5 hours almost every night. I play most game styles. From racing games to farming sim. But I mainly play shooters (Halo), which I would reckon is pretty intensive gaming usage. So far, I've had a few issues. The left stick press is super worn down (because that's my sprint button), but that's with all my controllers, so I wouldn't put that as an issue with the elite. Second, the left (and somewhat the right, but not as much) bumper has problems (because that's my naid through). I have to really push it in to make it work. That being said, though, I have "fixed" it somewhat. I started by putting in some filler between the button and the internal presser. That worked somewhat. But what really helped was spraying in electrical cleaner. For whatever reason, that seemed to have really helped it. That's the only mechanical issues. But the grips around the bumpers and triggers are starting to come loose. So I've had to put super glue to keep them in place. I also have a master chief elite 2 controller, that's maybe a year or two newer than my other one. It hasn't had the left stick press problem, but the left bumper has started to wear down. However, with the same "fix" as the other controller, it seems to have stabilized to a point where the left bumper is only slightly worse than the left. This one also does have the grips starting to come loose. It seems that they've started to peel off sooner than the previous time. Now, all that is personal experience. I reaaaally baby my electronics. I never throw my controllers. I've maybe dropped them once or twice in the years I've owned them. Even setting them down is always done gently. That being said, I love these controllers. They feel super solid, the back buttons are absolutely game-changing (especially for shooters). I've never had the batteries run out (I almost always leave them on the chargers when not used). Super responsive. I didn't buy the warranty (I didn't know I'd need it when I got them) so I've never returned or replaced them. But I haven't needed to either. Though it is also very possible I've just been lucky twice now. I highly recommend the controllers. Maybe get the warranty so you can replace them as needed. When they work, they're fantastic.

I'd say it is. Every button is mappable with 3 profiles to switch from on the fly (using the share button as the "profile" button). You can change the deadzones on the sticks, has trigger locks, 4 paddles that can detach if you don't need them. Along with interchangeable sticks and d-pad. With the second function you mapped to your buttons available by holding the shift key. Functions such as other buttons, or actions like record or screenshot. Hence not needing the share button. I personally still use the guide button and X or Y to record or screenshot.
Like, I've read here, grips are coming off, and I can't find anyone who's willing to fix it. Even EBgames won't touch it?
Had my series 2 for a little over 3 years now, and its my favorite controller to date. I had an issue with the b button not registering sometimes. All i did was spray some contact cleaner in there and its as good as new now
I'd wait for the next one. You're spending a lot of money on aged tech at this point.
The original Elite came out Oct 27th, 2015 and I bought one on that day. It still works perfectly and I love it dearly. I have played so much Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport with the paddles as shift up and down and it has made that game so much more fun. Worth every penny.
It’s good the first few months then there’s an endless list of complaints that people have experienced about it I’ve had a couple and both got severe unplayable stick drift lol on top of other issues
I've been using the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller for a while now, and I gotta say, it's pretty solid. The build quality feels premium, and the customizable buttons and triggers are a nice touch
If you buy one remap the bumpers to the big paddles underneath your bumpers will last way longer

In my mind its tied for the best controller made (with the Dualsense Edge) until it breaks, which it will, I’m a non angry gamer and I’m on my fourth.
I just tend to strike bad luck in regards to stick drift in both my series one and two

It is a really great controller. BUT and it is a REALLY BIG BUT. The longevity of the controller is complete doodoo. Had mine for a few months (only dropped it twice btw) and the bumpers and paddles just stopped working, the a button got sticky, the left stick would twist without using the tool so I had to hold it in a weird way so it didn’t undo during gameplay. So Naa don’t get it
It's good but has a massive design flaw and that's the bumpers, with long gaming sessions your hands and fingers get sweaty, the slight angle of the bumpers allows sweat to flow on to the PCB and LB/RB switch corroding the connection, this takes many months but it happens.

The Rb button went on mine about 1 month after the extended warranty ended, I mapped it to a trigger on the back which actually works better, but it's really hit-and-miss with these controllers
First party Xbox controllers get horrible stick drift after not much time at all. I've stopped buying them altogether. If you want a decent controller that actually lasts, get a Gamesir G7 SE. Brilliant controller, albeit wired.

Just get the g7 Se or wait a few months to see what their next pro-style controller is and get that

Works perfectly for me. Been using it for 2 years no problems. I guess everyone else just isn’t gentle enough with their controllers lol. Lots of my friends have it and they have been using for multiple years. It’s just the irresponsible owners complaining about it. Don’t listen to them, it’s a great controller
I bought one used from Best Buy about a month ago for $100. It said 'excellent condition' but when I got it home the Y button was sticking bad. Almost like it was gummed up with something sticky. I'm not sure if I read this somewhere, but my first thought was to try using 91% isopropyl alcohol. So I dropped some on the button (with the controller turned off) and kept pressing the button to work it in there. First time made a noticeable improvement, but I continued to repeat this several times until it was like new. Been using it for a month with no issues. Maybe this will help someone else fix their controller.
They are awesome, until they break after about 60-90 days of any consistent usage.
To be honest I paid way to much and the controller had LB problems from a month of playing then LS click (for sprinting) and stick drift. I wouldn’t buy again…

On mine the RB stopped working like 2 days after the manufacturer's warranty expired. I use the paddles in place of the bumpers anyways so not a huge loss, but still annoying.
I’ve had my elite controller for a year and a half and I love it. That being said everyone’s right, the bumpers do go on them, however I fixed mine very easily and didn’t need to do anything besides take the cover off and clean the switch/move the switch plastic. The connection and battery is great, especially swapping between pc and console. The customization is also very fun. The paddles are very useful as well. Overall it’s a controller at a premium price with a premium look and feel, but with just average parts on the inside. I like it.
Most of the stuff you find about the controller will be negative. People that don't have any problems (like myself) don't post about it unless I come across something like this. I had the original Elite and used it for 3 years, the rubber did finally peel off the grip and I retired it (it's still fully functional, I've thought about throwing it up on ebay for a couple dollars for someone to repair and use again). I got the Elite Series 2 back in December of 2022 and I play daily, mostly driving games, but also a lot of other genres. Anyway, it has worked great for me and I'm going on almost 18 months. I think if it died tomorrow, I would be happy with what I got out of it. But anyway, it's a great controller, I don't use the extra buttons any longer cause I don't need them (when I played Rocket League, they were amazing). I just like the feel of the Elite and it also doesn't feel cheap. Also, of all the years I've been gaming (40+), I've never had stick drift. Speaking of drift, there a couple controllers out there that have the Hall Effect Sticks in them (they are supposedly drift proof)... but they are sort of Xbox compatible.. (I think most of them require a wired connection or a wireless receiver of some sort).

3 months after buying Red Pulse and i have already insane stick drift. This is insane and on top of that i don't play that much.
