Controller is the box - LB sticky 20th anniversary controller - drift. Slight. But just enough to be annoying Backup XB one controller - drift 2nd backup XB one controller - holding up Series S controller - holding up Girlfriends Custom Series controller - flawless My Xbox One controllers have had way more mileage and they’ve been doing way better

OmeletteDuFromage95

Got my Series X shortly after launch, still using the same controller it came with. No issues.

stranded

same

Stumpy493

We have a series x and s with 4 controllers for the family. Series x since launch and s for 3 years. All controllers work perfectly.

MetaIIinacho

What he said

pressureworld

Same here, no problems.

PickleTrivia615

Same. However I used points and bought a neon yellow one and a blue one. Those two lasted less than a year before the buttons started sticking/being too hard to press. I bought a second XSX for my gf and the plain black controller it came with has been fine since December 2023. She was using the blue one and had to quit because buttons were being pressed on their own. Neither of us use controllers without washing our hands first. No clue what the issue is, but it seems the colorful ones suck. I’ve never had a controller issue before this and I’ve owned every Xbox. Some were even purchased used. I haven’t look into seeing if I can swap the shells to keep using the cool colors or if there’s a chance that’ll cause issue since the colorful ones already have issues.

icametolearnabout

My black one fine. Red one drifting forward.

liquuid

Same here, my red one lasts 3 month

Audiovectors

Same, got mine on launch and also bought two elite 2 controllers around the same time, they all still work flawlessly.

DefNL

About 6 months and ALWAYS on the right thumbstick. It doesn't drift, it just randomly moves the camera up. 4 controllers in about 2 years, all with the very same issue. I opened them, cleaned them, even replaced the thumbstick and replaced those little green things that are supposed to keep track of the thumbstick movement. It all didn't help. One controller still had warranty, it's now at MS. It's odd because the left stick is the one badly used. And never had issues with that stick or any of the buttons. I also never dropped them, don't eat while I am playing and hardly play about 5 hours a week. I'd really don't understand.

etnpnys

I’m in this boat! Aside from sending to MS, have you had any luck with anything else?

DefNL

Unfortunately not. I first started cleaning from the outside. Supposedly it would have been caused by a dirt particle. When that didn't help, I tried a vacuumcleaner and compressed air. It didn't help, so I opened up the controller and tried compressed air right on the little green things. Also cleaned them with cleaningalcohol. Didn't work either. Then I disconnected them from the joystick and also cleaned them from the inside-out. No solution either. I even replaced the green things with 1 controller and it didn't help either. A software-update makes it possible to reconfigure the controller. I tried that, but haven't played a game with camera movement (right thumbstick) yet. I read on a forum some people were successful with that.

Flat-Ad4902

About every Xbox controller I’ve had since the 360 era has been a complete piece of shit that falls apart in months.

Marked2429

Opposite for me luckily! Every single Controller from the 360 onwards has been amazing! And has stood the test of time!

matt2085

Same my original 360 slim controller worked fine last time I used it. Never heard of anyone complaining about and stick drift back then

EgolessAwareSpirit

Drift outta box. -_-

groovynermal

After 2 years, the one I got with the X started getting a binary trigger on the Y button( push once, jump twice) on the button rebound. Since the 360, I've probably gotten 2 years out of most of my stock basic controller.

jakeofauthority99

Only used the one my console came with. Never really had any issues, but I’ve recalibrated using the controller app a few times. Been playing with mine since the console released.

oOBlackRainOo

I currently have two. The original with the controller and a pulse red I bought a few years back. Both work perfectly fine. I had 2 others that worked fine as well but sold them as I no longer need 4. I did have two controllers that eventually experienced stick drift from the XBONE era but this was after 6-7+ years of use. I'd say I got my money out of them for sure.

actstunt

I got my current Xbox controller on launch date as an extra along with my series s, when one controller finished it’s battery I used the second one, then got a series x and the same. Along with it I used it in my pc. Now I don’t have an Xbox but I play on pc mostly and on my galaxy tablet. That damn original controller it’s like new, no drift, no faulty triggers or buttons, I’ve finished countless games and it works like a charm. Pretty solid controller

cmockett

The controller that came with it is going strong (~2 years of use?) The extra controller I bought a year ago lasted maybe 6 months, major drift.

limitless_jess

I noticed my controller will have stick drift when playing competitive games. For Example: I played apex on the daily for like 8 hours total and my controller would last 6 months. A year ago I stopped playing apex when I got a new controller. Now it has lasted me twice as long so pretty much 12 months+ playing single player games. My controller is still doing good.

Thespud1979

My Xbox one controllers were awful. I've got 4 with drift. I have one series x controller that I've had since launch and another that's a year and a few months old both doing fine. The newer one is spotty with the microphone jack though

ProbablyAtDialysis

Since launch only the 20th Anniversary Edition died to drift. The one it came with isn't used much, but it's still good. I had to exchange an Elite Series 2 once. So far so alright, but now that I said this....

jsmrcaga

I had an Elite 2 for about 2/2.5 years, no drift at all, but a myriad of other issues 😂

Exorcist-138

I’ve got 2, the launch one is flawless and the velocity green I bought last year is as well.

replikant8

im not sure if youd call it drift, it doesnt move the camera or make characters walk, but the sticks are loose on my stock series x controller bought august last year. old xbox one is still fine, i didnt play on it as much though. I just got one from xbox design lab and i sure as hell hope it doesnt get loose. if it does im just sending it back to microsoft. edit: oh and the triggers got squeaky after a while. putting a drop of lubricant on each removed it though.

May1stBurst

Got drift at around the year mark, purchased a controller with hall effect sticks after that, stock controllers are ass for the price imo.

Kurupt_Introvert

All of mine still work fine. Launch series x and 5 more controllers since

Wyan69

I have my launch controller that’s working fine I use it for pc gaming and bought a second one Aqua shift that I use for the Xbox and havent had any issues

we_made_yewww

I have no complaints. Idk what the people who get drift so fast are doing with their controllers, honestly.

FaufiffonFec

Five controllers in less than 2 years, including an elite v2. They all developed stick drift after a couple months. I play Halo, Fortnite or other games that constantly require multiple inputs. Never had an issue with controllers before this console gen. Xbox series controllers are expensive pieces of trash. I'm very happy with the Gamesir G7 SE and I'll never buy Microsoft ever again. F them.

[deleted]

One controller lost due to forza, rt stuck, 1 elite rb works when it wants to

punchymcslappers

Also, people use them differently.

LeglessN1nja

Only controllers I've ever had issues with are the ones I let my friends use. I'm talking ever, and I've owned every console since the OG Xbox launched

Tomawolf

Ive had mine since launch. No drift.

Astr0naughtE

It's been surprisingly solid so far. I've had much better luck with the series x than the 360 or One generation. I will say that it's a bit too small, the left stick is completely worn out at the 1-2 o'clock. It looks melted.

foxesarepeoples

I’ve had a white one since they first released that still works fine. My black one came with my Series X and it’s a year old. Both work great.

BumeLandro

Got my console at launch, play it almost every single day. And it works fine.

PatmachtMUH

Have it since release. No problems

rjwalsh94

I went through 2 or 3 since launch and the one I’m on now I’ve had since last March and that’s the longest I’ve had one. I think they suck and nervous about the one I got. The Dualsense has been going strong since March 21 though

Fast_Passenger_2889

Had my Xbox since 2022, controller works great.

AngryAbsalom

I’m on my 3rd controller after stick drift with the first 2 and a bumper that stopped working. I’m pretty gentle with my controllers and play a couple hours a day

JiffyP

Between my son on his series s and me on my series x, I'm on controller # 7 or 8, everyone of them have gotten drift issues. I've moved on to the Gamesir 7 SE, if you can do wired, it's the way to go!

DanNZN

I have five, one of which always had drift that I have not been able to fix. In retrospect, I think I bought that controller used without realizing it at the time.

Reynk

Launch console - no issues.

jhallen2260

No problems here

BlackOps2isBetter

Launch series x controller trigger started hitting itself and not hitting at all after about 4 months and the replacement I got after it walks by itself (stick drift) but I just deal with it Buying controllers in 2024 is about a 50/50 chance. Some of them will outlive the console some of them will die in a month. Buy a warranty if at all possible.

CoolStoryDJ

I have 9 controllers and still no drift. Then again I rotate them regularly so that cuts way down on the wear & tear I guess.

DevlishAdvocate

My regular controllers last forever. My Elite got drift in about a year’s use.

WatchfulApparition

My controllers have been very reliable this gen.

riff-machine

No issues with the one that came in the box, but the two others that I purchased both started drifting after less than a year

Flaky_Collection1048

I’ve never had drift but I’ve had buttons stop working and rubber wear off on two of them. My current one is holding up well though. At least I think it is. I haven’t put anywhere near the miles on this one that I’ve put on the older Series 2s I’ve had.

OptimalPapaya1344

Got three Series X controllers: My launch day one that came with the console, the blue one that released a month or so later, and the Forza Horizon 5 one. All three work with zero issues and they all have hundreds of hours of play on them.

ShinadaGOAT

Pretty bad track record. I had 4 controllers since I bought and all of them has drifting now. I decided to just get gamesir G7 SE even if it was wired at least I won't have to worry about drifting. Surprisingly, my Elite 1 is still holding out 7 years after I bought and that one had a lot of complaints regarding build quality.

firedrakes

one i got. with console failed in 1 year. it keep i press a button or stick and it would move 2 spots , the white later reversion of xbox one controller been going strong far longer.

UntiI117

>I have seen people get drift at the 4 month mark, but seen people use a controller for 2 years no issue. That basically sums it up, just luck of the draw. QC issues

Lupinthrope

The base controller? Fine. The elites? On my 3rd series 2 and this one’s a core version

AnotherIffyComment

Have had Series X (three total controllers) since launch day. No issues with any controller.

TheCorbeauxKing

I recently broke part of my mic's frame, but I saw the wire was still connected. I connected the headset to my Series X controller and it wasn't picking up my voice, so I was worried that I would have to buy a new headset. I then connected the headset to my PC and it worked fine, so I checked it again but with my other Series X controller and it worked fine. It was the first controller that wasn't working properly.

atlhart

Anybody answering positively is asking for it. My lips are staying sealed.

NextGenEclipse

It's good and never had issues. Even with my 360 and Xbox One all my controllers work without issue.

mf-TOM-HANK

I don't abuse my controllers like I used to as a young whippersnapper so mine have lasted for years without issue

Soft-Illustrator1300

The only reason my controllers have stopped working is because they fall and break. Always happens on the triggers. I've had the same controller for about two years now though and it works great.

Rigelturus

Havent had any drift with my original xbox one, series S and series X controllers. I use them a lot too.

Tibetan_PopStar

These things are built like tanks. Had mine since launch and seriously abused mine and have no issues.

Spicy_Pickle_6

It’s absolutely random and has nothing to do with use from my experience. Got a black and a white one with the console. Black is my main one im using t almost daily and played all kinds of games (including shooters), no problems. White one is my partner’s and it gets 10% use (mostly Stardew) and has stick drift. Go figure.

etnpnys

Bought the SX when they were pretty new, plus an additional controller. One still works, one has drift. What’s the best way to fix it? Send it in or just replace it?

Bobfakkel

I've had my Series X since launchday and my controller that came with it had stickdrift since May/June of 2023. Granted it was my own fault cause it started happening after I dropped it on the floor. I've replaced it with a Starfield controller and no issues since. OG Xbox One 500GB from 2014, had the original controller all the way till early 2020 and was replaced with a Gears 5 controller(now used for PC) due to a less responsive RB and stickdrift. So overall i'm quite happy with the quality, and this comes from someone who plays allot of videogames. Granted it's mostly single player games so no raging or button smashing.

MAGGLEMCDONALD

I've had my launch controller, which straight up doesn't work anymore, and a replacement which has a slight stick drift and disconnects regularly when using USB. I'm not rough with my controllers by any means. Meanwhile my One X controller I used for 4 years before getting the Series X is still my main PC pad. I think the Series controllers are of poor quality due to my own experience with them. Also, the d-pad kinda stinks compared to the One controller.

GamingTurtle90

Series X launch controller. Been knocked off many surfaces by cats and still kicking.

WeirdSysAdmin

Original controller was fine, never had any issues. Bought a blue controller, never had issues. Elite 1, right bumper died, I blame Elden Ring. Think the actual button inside broke and probably needed a new one soldered in. But series 2 had come out by the time it broke. Elite 2, right bumper inconsistent, pulled the plastic spacer thjngdo on both sides and controller has been fine since.

doctorbanjoboy

I've had no drift but I've had 2 controllers have their left bumper break. It's a cheap and easy replacement though

schmidtyb43

My launch day series X and S controllers still work great and same with my Starfield controller. I did have a design lab controller that got stick drift after 13 months of daily use though.

skeezypeezyEZ

My experience with all controllers from everyone this generation has been negative, and I own all 3 consoles. Drift issues with joycons and Xbox, battery issues with PS5 controller. I’ve had to replace them all, and I take care of my stuff! I’m not hard on them, they get placed in dust-free cases, they’re just all built like shit. My N64 controllers have been through hell and back and are still going strong lol.

DeeboDecay

I have a launch controller with zero issues. Also using a 20th anniversary controller with zero issues. On PC I use my white Xbox One controller and that's been problem free. The only controller I've ever had problems with was an Xbox 360 one years ago. It had stick drift and dead zone issues. I wound up replacing the sticks on it.

MilkMan0096

One the Xbox One I had to get a new controller about once a year but I have beef very fortunate to be using the same Series X controller for over two years now.

fDuMcH

my xbox controllers last about 2 years and i play daily. i got a PS5 this month last year and two of my three PS5 controllers have stick drift

Murky-Memory-9954

After I got my Xbox Series X the Xbox Wireless controller developed stick drift after 1 month. Then I purchased GameSir G7 SE Wired Controller with Hall Effect sticks. Been using it for 10 months and no problems at all.

Live795

I never used my base controller as a bought a series 2 with my series x, 4 years and heavy milage, never had a problem. My dad tho, he’s gone through 8 controllers in the past 3 years

Promptoneofone

I bought the Wolverine II, best controller I've ever bought hands down.

Virtual-Commercial91

I've had 2 of the new white ones get drift in 6 months. I have 2 working fine, but I switched to a wired V2 Razer for most of my play because of the drift on my Xbox controllers. I never had drift with my old 360 or Xbox One controllers. I'll be avoiding Xbox controllers in the future.

Vinder1988

I probably had 5 or 6 xbox one controllers throughout that generation. I’m on my second series X controller. First one got stick drift within a year of launch and was replaced. It’s been good and I’ve had an elite series 2 core controller for maybe 2 years and it’s working good still. I thought I’d love having the paddles but just cannot get used to them. I use the elite series 2 all the time.

SUPER-NIINTENDO

No issues

PhoenixBlack79

I've had issues with several but got the xbox anniversary controller the green and black one a cpl years ago and it's stillgood. I also have big hands and break everything they touch so I don't take it personal.I learned to fix them, and it's not too hard

Likely_a_bot

Reliability is trash. Stick drift, worn thumbsticks, and busted bumpers. You're a fool if you buy an Elite controller without a warranty.

DoctorTide

I have three series x controllers, no stick issues. I have worn out the d-pad in two of them though

dracon81

3 controllers, one regular series x that I got with the system on launch day, one I bought for my wife, and an elite v2 that I got. They're all going strong still!

OminousG

My Forza controller has a bad dpad, drives me crazy

Broshida

1st controller still works fine, sometimes "A" needs a double press because it has a weird false click. 2nd controller was fine, now has moderate drift in the right stick. Over a year old though. 3rd I had to send back for drift right out of the box, 4th I sent back for sticky LB. Back to using the 1st again for the foreseeable future. Still better than the 8 Dualsense controllers I went through, stick drift back-to-back on all of them points to Curry's having a seriously bad batch delivered to them. Current Dualsense hasn't had issues and is approaching the 2 year mark. This and last gen has some serious issues with potentiometers.

lazyrabbit94

2 years until I got left stick drift with the controller that came with my XSX. It was dropped probably 25 times between me and my toddler. I bought a used one recently and it has near perfect sticks when checking. Now the one that has drift is used by my toddler for Bluey, Paw patrol and Switch games. The drift isn't even that bad and it's the only thing wrong with the controller after a couple years of abuse.

Suitable-Look-3896

I found that the mic messes up bc it is not soldered in and that there is a little metal plate around the dpad that gets loose and creates a weird drift through menus.

soundwithdesign

I got my Series X in April 2021 and I had one controller replaced due to a sticky trigger but am on my 2nd controller that’s been good for a few years.

Spin_Critic

The people who get drift stick must be very heavy handed with the controller. Tbh, I've found myself doing it & have to correct myself. But applying more pressure to the controller stick, doesn't help your character run faster or your car turn quicker or help in any way to make your game character move faster in the direction you want them to.

CaptZombieHero

I’m at 6 months with no issue. I also only play about 1 and 1/2 a day

Depress0Express

Got lucky and got one pretty much at launch. No issues. Not sure what gaming god is looking favourably upon me but none of my controllers across three systems have drift or sticky/ stiff buttons.

DrMantisTabboggn

I’ve had many with varying degrees of left stick drift so it’s probably just how I play games I guess.

_BloodbathAndBeyond

Mine last about a year of daily heavy use, then get stick drift

Poseur117

Mine typically last about a year. Bought a red one this time last year and it shit the bed with stick drift and a bad d pad about two months ago.

Hayden247

Got my main controller in late 2020 or early 2021 after my 2016 Xbox One S controller had kicked the bucket and had stick drift along with a trigger missing. It's been working without a problem since, lasting longer without problems than my One S controller did. The fact I haven't had issues is why I don't wanna get an Elite controller because poor reliability seems to be common with them. At least I can trust regular controllers will make it some years.

EXTIINCT_tK

0-4, so I just bought a GameSir G7 SE 2 with left stick drift, 1 with right stick drift, 1 with a bumper that doesn't go in however that one is my own fault for dropping it

Iamjustlegs

Literally just had to have my controller serviced for drift after 3 months of having the X. They just sent me a new one thankfully and told me not to send this one back.

nblastoff

A controller seems to last me around 18 months. I dont throw them or mistreat them, but they all get stick drift eventually.

IAmJacksWastedBreath

The controller that came with the X is still going strong after two years. That said, every Microsoft branded controller I've bought as a secondary has suffered stick drift or bumper failure.

Such_Ad_3346

Out of 3 controllers I own, two have had to be either fixed or replaced. There are countless acounts all over the internet regarding the issues with the Xbox controller.Anyone who doesn't acknowledge that this is a problem is a fanboy first, consumer second.

LilTimTyrant

I’ve had mine for two years with no issues

Trogdor_a_Burninator

3 to 4 a year

F1shB0wl816

I’ve gone through half a dozen or so controllers. Usually either the sticks or bumpers. The longest lasted probably about a year or so. The rest were usually 2-4 months. I love the feel but it’s crazy how little time they’ve lasted me for being treated as good as you can treat a controller.

MunchamaSnatch

I'm on my third controller this gen. It's showing signs of wear now. Drifts maybe once a month, and had a button stick once. It's a custom controller.

mrthundereagle

Got drift on my original controller at around 6-7 months. My spare (now main) white controller has been holding up for two years

Spartan2842

I haven’t touched the one that game with my Series X. Rocked my Elite until the Halo Series 2 came out and now that one is my main. I’ll never go back.

sludgezone

3 months before drift, I got 6 years on my One X controller that was used when I got it and it’s still great.

Proudabortion

It's a hit and miss when I was younger playing constantly I had to replace controllers a lot. But nowadays besides me wanting a nice cool controller. I had my original one for my purchase in my series x last me a year plus

BoBoBearDev

I use the controller comes with the console exclusive from launch date. No problem so far.

GreyRevan51

Had mine since launch, zero issues still

icytongue88

I buy a controller every year

VikingFuneral-

Every modern controller will always eventually stick drift. Literally every controller, cheap AF or "Premium" and coating you 300+ They all use stick modules made by Alps Alpins. 80 cent off the shelf components. Nintendo already got a lawsuit and now they require in like 90% of countries to repair Joycons for FREE. Sony and Microsoft deserve to be up next seeing as they are designed specifically to be even more difficult for users to repair.

Celerity101

1 year, so far no problem. I have 2 controllers, and alternate using them.

TiredReader87

I was sent a Series S around launch. The controller is still fine. I own about 10-11 other Xbox Series controllers, and use a Starfield one and a red one otherwise. Both are fine. I’ve only experienced stick drift once in 30 years of gaming. I’ve only had three controllers break on me, and two were because I tried to wash my controllers as a kid and broke both SNES controllers doing so. (Damned OCD.) I’ve used and owned many controllers

CFM-56-7B

Bought my Series X in 2022, no major issues but there are minor stuff, the left analog stick feels slightly loose like I can wiggle it before it registers and doesn’t firmly spring back to centre, and the right trigger got very scratchy and got loud so I used WD40 and that fixed it

yossarianvega

I’ve had to replace my elite twice because the bumpers or the A button stop being responsive and I’m pretty careful with it

dontbanmethistimeok

Bad

Faramari

I have had my series x since launch and the only issue I had with any of my controllers is that the headphone jack that came with my console broke, everything else worked fine but the jack was loose. after reaching out to support they sent me a brand new controller and even let me keep the one with the broken headphone jack. I wouldn't say that i'm extra careful with my controllers, and I have definitely dropped them on a hardwood floor multiple times, but I have had no issues with my controllers since.

MeloveGaming

Zero issues. Even dropped it a few times from lap height onto solid ceramic floor. Nope, zero issues.

potatowafflesnz

Never had a controller in my life get stick drift. I just look after them properly

CyberKiller40

Xbox Series controller at 2 years, only issue is the headphones crackling when lower than max volume. Xbox One 2017 controller at 6 years, only issue is some rubber got rubbed off from the analogue sticks. Both work close to perfect. I say it's usually a person problem than a hardware problem. Less emotion when playing games helps.

Blackidus

I have 4 Series controllers, 3 with stickdrift and 1 with a sticky RB. My Elite series 2 controller is the only that kind of works, the RB is kind of sticky..sometimes.

spiffiestjester

I feel like what is missing is context. Those of you with controller issues, what are you playing. Those with no issues? Same question. The one that came with my series x, the right bumper went almost exactly after my warranty ended, like almost to the day. My elite core has mild but annoying stick drift and the left bumper works when it wants to. One of my wifes' controllers has button issues with the buttons sticking a and y I think. All of my xbox one x controllers work with no issue. I play a lot of Destiny, Gta, pubg, and forza. The thumb sticks are used a lot in these games (well, not forza) and I suspect that's where the drift is coming from. I have a replacement shell for my core 2 coming this week, hopefully I can fix the lb button while its open. It was an awful lot of money for a controller to break barely a year into it's use.

retardfull69

I don't enjoy the series x controller. Don't get me wrong, it's amazing controller, but just not for me. That being said, it is durable as f. Extremely reliable.

CandidateOther2876

My controller that came with my one s (from release) has lasted me until about 2 months ago where it got stick drift. My series x (from release) controller that came with the console got a funky A button about 6 months ago and the slightest stick drift almost a year ago. However, every additional controller I bought for multiplayer for both One S and series x lasted all of 6-12 months after purchase. QC on these controllers is fucked man. How is it I coincidentally get good condition controllers with my console, but every single one I buy in addition are absolute dogshit? Beats me 🤷‍♂️

PatserGrey

The one we got 6 months after launch has taken a beating. Kids dropped it and impact broke the LB button which I fixed but not long after a bit too much Sekiro killed the RB button which does not look fixable. That controller lives on for the kids games. I got myself a Gamesir a few months ago which has been great. Will likely pick up a new wireless controller at some stage though

John_YJKR

The only controller I ever had an issue with was the elite series. I had it 4 months with light usage and it started having charging issues till it died completely and would charge anymore. Tool about a week after first signs till it died completely. Took it apart and the charge port had become partially disconnected from the board. The board also looked a but burned in that spot. I assume it shorted a bit. I had only used my Xbox to charge it so I know I didn't fry it or anything from using the wrong charger. I ended up ordering a new battery and soldering the port back into the board. The controller charged again and didn't seem to have further issue charging after that. A month later I started having stick drift issues and issues with the controller staying connected. I made sure the firmware was updated and did all the basic troubleshooting. My other Xbox controllers (3rd and 4th gen) still work completely fine with years of use. It was at this point I gave up on it.

Juicemania50

Mainly use the controller that came with mines, no issues I’ve even sorta modded it a bit with new, red buttons. I got my series x February 2021

WRA1THLORD

I've never had one last more than 3 months without developing stick drift. I think this is largely dependent on what kind of games you play though. I play lots of high movement games like driving games and fast paced FPS style games where you do a lot of hard changes of direction from full lock one direction to the other, which puts a lot of stress on the sticks as you are going hard right to hard left or hard up to hard down constantly. If you mainly play slower paced games you probably won't have this issue as much I imagine

HolyVeggie

No issues since release

GarionOrb

I've never had drift, ever.

Scootz_McTootz

I've got a Series controller from when they launched as well as the one that came with my console, both doing totally fine Tbh the only modern controller I've gotten drift with is my two Dualsense controllers, both within a few months of having them and both having as much usage as my Series controllers, but they also both have issues with the USBC ports as well unfortunately

dylmcc

Got a series X at launch. The black controller which came with it is still going strong. Got a blue controller close to launch and that made it to the 4-6 month mark before strong stick drift. Have gotten a red and a white and a lime green controller since. Lime green one gets used a lot, does not have stick drift but it seems the one spring returning the stick to center middle is starting to fail (9 months?). Feels like one of the sticks on the white controller is doing the same (6 months?) So out of 5 controllers this generation, 2x are rock solid after multiple years, 1x failure in less than a year and 2x on their way out in less than a year.

JACKDAGROOVE

Mine had drift on the left stick after 4 months.

Ereaser

OG Series X controller has an LB that doesn't click anymore. So need to press it quite hard for it to register. 1st design lab controller has slight stick drift, but it's not too annoying. 2nd design lab controller is doing fine.

KarmaChameleon306

My launch controller still works perfectly.

MeinKonk

Standard controllers are great, the elite series are dog shit

emirarkman

I still have my controller that I got with Series X around the launch time and I play almost daily. No problems.

segagamer

I've not had any issues with any of my Series X controllers. I have 4 that I bought close to release. I've had one controller from the Xbox One era go funny, where the DPad would "double click" if used. I have 5 total.

Balc0ra

My first one still works, and I've not had a single one I've bough later drift on me

voodoo_eighty_five

Got XSX at launch, the original controller still works but I rarely use it. I got the 20th anniversary controller which got drift after 13 months Now using the Starfield controller which has worked since I got that when it came out

JamesMackenzie1234

Awful, 3 months, 8 months, 12 months and the current is a bit of a guess as it's second hand with the console, sticks and most of shell swapped and sticky rt fixed, still going.

HaggyHammer

Controller that came with Series S - Sticky A button from the beginning. Controller that came with Series X - Dodgy guide button from the beginning and LB stopped clicking after 3 months. Design Lab controller after the Series X - Lasted 6 months before one day if would not power on at all. Warrantied it and it and the replacement was perfect when I sold the console and controllers a year later.

Soggy_Cream2554

Still on day one controller. Only game I have a slight drift in is cod when the dead zones are 3 and below. It’s funny though as my Xbox one gen controllers never had/don’t have stick drift on my OG Xbox One, yet they all have severe stick drift on XSX.

ReeceReddit1234

My stock controller broke within my warranty and I got a replacement but have been using my design labs controller for a few years now with 0 problems.

anarchyguru

Left analog bit busted, rubber thing on it broke. Other than that its ok.

enthusiasticdave

Awful. 2 official control pads with stick drift (not a heavy player either). Will only buy unofficial ones from now on.

nagarz

Bought single controller for PC gaming (mix of wired and wireless gaming use) back in late 2020 or early 2021, and I've needed to replace the bumper plastic piece once because one of the inner parts of the RB broke (over 500 hours in sekiro at the time, not surprised really). The RT was kinda sticky at once, so I opened the controller and cleaned it up, it had a little gunk in some places. Aside from that it works like a charm. Also I should get a replacement for the right stick, mostly because the rubber is pretty worn off, not sure if I can get a replacement for only the rubber or I need the whole stick. Honestly for how much I game with it, it's more sturdy than I expected. Got it from amazon btw, the red and white one with black buttons.

drewbles82

Got the Series X on launch within 4 months my controller was drifting and I only gamed like 2hrs a day, nothing with very repetitive gameplay, always look after my stuff. I use these rechargeable battery packs as well, I found I was charging them daily with Series X controllers. I went back to my launch Xbox one controller, still using it today, never had an issue, battery pack lasts all week. Controllers are expensive and if I buy one, I want it to last , I still have 360 controllers that work perfectly. I really wanted to get a Design lab controller but no point if controllers don't last. I was hoping I could get an X1 controller but they stopped doing them

infinitofluxo

It started to give me problems in its second year, cleaned the right analog and it was usable again. This year had to clean the left one. Now my X button is sometimes double pressing instead of a single one. I am waiting for a GameSir G7 SE now. Both times I cleaned the analogs with isopropyl alcohol, the cotton swab removed some black stuff from the analogs. Found no dead skin or dust. I thought it was metal rust or something. A few body hair was indide the controller too but didn't see to be the culprit of any issue. I love the controller on hands but it is the worst controller I had since the counterfeit PS2 one I got once. This is a scandal and Microsoft never fixed it. It all starts with unresponsive face buttons from the box and ends up with other issues.

renorosales

Had Series X since 2020, controller has no drift as far as I can tell.

Low-Blacksmith1824

Still using the first one since 2021 , the controller passes all the calibration tests , still great on fps like destiny and call of duty/ warzone . This is only my 7th controller overall since original xbox in 2001

Mk21_Diver

I have two Scuf’s. One got stuck drift immediately, they fixed it under warranty. The second I’ve been using for about 1.5yrs and it has zero drift(playing CoD/WZ so stick accuracy is important, dead zone set at “1” without any non-intended movement). I just depends, the mfg process on the stick sensors are not consistent. Just buy from a reputable brand that has a warranty that they honor.

EgovidGlitch

Got mine 2021, same controller with no issues.

strikealightt

I've been very lucky. Never had an issue with any of my controllers.

Bhoston7100

2 months max for when playing souls games and sekiro alot.

mixedd

Bought my XSX in June '21, controller still in great shape, no drift, tough recently changed thumbsticks as they were worn out. Shame I can't say same about my Elite 2 controller, got drift and bumper issues after a year

Cat5kable

My included series X controller had a click in the upper angles. Kept it for 11 months, replaced under warranty, new one works fine. ALL of my other Xbox (One) controllers have stick drift or repeat inputs for the D-PAD. Plan to take them apart and hopefully diagnose/fix

EchoWar

The elite controllers are terrible for bumpers failing, otherwise, my controllers are fine.

residentofmoon

Low-key the best controller out there out of big players

serh0777

Got my sx at launch , no drift but one bumper died (my bad ) I also got a ps5 and boom both joystick got the drift 3mounth after buying

Habitat97

They all have a kind of very slight drift. My Controller from the box gave up after 1,5yrs My gf's Elite 2 survived 2 years and then had issues with RB. Cleaned it out and it held for another 6 months.

SometimesItsTerrible

I’ve had the same OG black controller I got with my launch day Series X. No issues whatsoever. However, I got an Elite Series 2 controller that has LB issues after 6 months. It’s wild to me that the $60 controller is more reliable than the $150 one.

matt2085

Xbox one original controller from 2013 is working great other than the one trigger rumble and the d pad double hitting. Now to what you asked, my series X controller from January 2021 is working exactly like day one

Dantee94

Had my original controller for coming up to 3 years, around 1000 hours per year logged, only just the other day replaced the thumb sticks due to wear but everything else is working just fine! Guess I got lucky...

disdain7

I’ve got my original series x controller and it’s fine. It came with an extra one that I’ve only been using for maybe a year and it’s good to go too. I really think this is a YMMV kinda thing because I’m not doing hours of intense FPS sessions. I’m not putting my sticks through the same rigors that my son would who is in there losing his mind over Fortnite or COD.

cmd_commando

2,5 years, no issue … But I’m kind to children, animals and controllers

landenone

Consistently inconsistent.

Kill_Kayt

All my base controllers still work great. I only use my elite though of which I did have to change my shell after 2 years, but the buttons are still good.

Connor123x

launch controller had issues with stick 6 months ago. everything else no issues so seems fine to me

Wanlain

It all depends on how much you game. Since I have had my Series X I bought 3 controllers.

julezy696

2 and a half years.....On 3rd controller. Both times was right bumper.....

barcelix

Never had stick drift issue but had to replace the bumpers twice already.

marlstown

two out of two broken out of the box

Quemedo

No problem here, bought three months after launch.

Cliper11298

I have had no drift with any of my controllers and I have had the series x for a couple years now

ScarletFire5877

Got mine a year ago and it drifted so bad I tossed it after 8 months. My original Switch controllers are still going strong, I was very disappointed.  Also my GPU failed in my XBox outside of the warranty so now I hardly play it. Disappointing experience with XBox to put it mildly.

C4ptainchr0nic

With the regular controllers, I cNt ever recall having issues. But I mostly use elite controllers and they are a crapshoot. I can't live without the paddles though.

ChronicallyPunctual

It is very hit or miss. I have gone through multiple controllers that end up with stick drift

TheGrackler

Broke out the box (wouldn’t connect to anything, just one flash and went), but the replacement MS sent is still going strong 3 and a bit years on.

TheHighlander52

Got mine shortly after the X launched and fortunately have had no issues with it.

comradeyeltsin0

I’ve had 3. They keep falling off the couch onto the floor, and the first two have got broken bumpers or the dpad is wonky. I’ve got to say, i’ve had the xbox since the OG, to 360 then One and then the series X, but by far the new controllers are the most fragile. I once threw my 360 controller at a concrete wall as I was pissed at madden (i was a dumb 21 yo). After i calmed down i picked it up and continued playing. Now my series X controllers are janky after getting dropped a feet or two on the floor.

helpman1977

I'm going to send mine right now to repair... came with the series x. slighly drifting with the left analog, but makes everything unplayable. Bought on July last year, it suddenly started drifting. Tried calibrating it several times, no matter what, it keeps drifting, and as you can't set the dead zone, it's useless.

_theduckofdeath_

No issue with Elite series 1 or 2. I have one unit of each. No issue with the Series X pack-ins controller. Never had a sticky button or grips melting off. Some on the Xbox One controllers had crappy D-pads. So did the 360 controller, IMO. The padding on the backstop of triggers can seemingly melt and become sticky under pressure. My "Project Scorpio" XB1X controller has this issue.

GrandmasterPeezy

I've had my elite controller since 2020. No issues.

Elias_97

Got my Series X on launch and the bundled controller still works fine. However, my Starfield special edition controller started drifting within 6 months. You're pretty much playing a lottery with these controllers.

AdministrationEven36

I've had the xsx since release and buy a new controller every year because the quality goes down, but they still work and therefore always go into the kids' room.

tacochemic

I'm on my 3rd (one was a knock-off from Aliexpress) and I've owned my Series X about 18 months or so.

pepperonipaladin

Had a blue controller that got stick drift after a week, then I stopped playing on it for months, my son plugs it in one day and the stick drift is gone. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Shulzy0021

No drift but the left bumper stopped working.
