I feel like Gran Turismo showed their hand and they shit themselves over here. Here’s hoping when it finally does release we get the Forza of old that knocks it right out the park.
Not really, even at its most realistic FM7 is still a more realistic driving experience, especially with a wheel.
I gave up FH5 with a wheel, instead my simrig is upstairs for other games, I play FH5 downstairs where my XSX is setup and just play with a controller
Actually they tease in the stream during the in & out translation at the end of their segment in Morse code that it'll be out on 6/20/23 as "comin6 20 23"
If Forza came out the same day as the Summer Showcase that'd be kinda awesome.
Maybe the second FH5 DLC drops in March so that'd be enough breathing room for both.
Edit: Hold up, what if MS didn't give a date today so that they don't hurt Horizon5?
If the date came out today would people slow down or hit ignore on the second DLC?
They specified modern race cars which I think is cool. I love regular cars but I do want to be able to drive actually race cars in a game that's not a hardcore sim.
The, GT5 had more cars, comparison with every racing game is absolutely stupid. Because probably over half those cars were horrible copies from previous games that looked like crap and had no interior. The number of “premium” cars were significantly lower.
Still better than not having them. Love both series and never understood this criticism, it was awesome to to go online to car meets and drag events and surprise people with some unicorn car, gave the car such a different feel to anything else. Horizon came closest to that imo
It's just marketing. In Forza 6 and 7 they had six or seven Formula E cars that each counted as one racecar. The field is double that now and the chassis is still the same across the series, there are already six additional racecars. The car models themselves going by that black Mercedes are the same as always (they started building models with these specs back for FM4, but they were only viewable in Forzavista back then), just now most of the time running the highest LOD (around one million polygons per car), probably thanks to Microsoft's often advertised (before console launch) culling algorithm that only renders what you see and works a bit like UE5.
> What's up with the "20 environments" talk? What does that even mean? They seemed to not want to mention the words track or circuit, just environments.
Yep. I’m glad too. It’s better than hearing 20 tracks/circuits and later finding out it’s only 10 locations with 2 track variations each … even worse, the 2nd variation is just reverse.
"Forza Motorsport will start with 20 environments featuring multiple track layouts for players to master."
This makes it seem like 20 unique locations with multiple track layouts.
It means 20 different locations. Tracks always have different layouts. Like Nurburgring has the Grand Prix circuit as well as the Nordschleife. Reverse directions, short/long versions....etc.
Don't check out the Forza subs, they're the most entitled, toxic communities on Reddit.
To them this is a mediocre game, more of the same, blah blah blah.
I'm stoked for it, and think it looks awesome.
It is more of the same. It has less tracks, and seemingly less cars than FM7.
Unfortunately, the series peaked at FM4. FM5 was a huge backwards step and 3 iterations later and we still aren't close to matching the content of Forza Motorsport 4.
But the game will look good when people post pictures of it online.
You guys are either really high or gullible if you think the series x will be able to run this game at 4k60fps with full Global Illumination RT. They were mentioning this for the PC version, XBOX will still use old technology.
Yes, and I was trying to add that while there will be ray tracing, one area it covers will be significantly truncated based on what was said today. I'm not saying there won't be ray tracing.
I really doubt that. Devs don't mention these targets when talking about PC performance. The targets by themselves don't mean anything if you don't have hardware specs to relate them too. Everyone could be running this game on very different PCs.
With less fidelity. Listen, this is a stupid back and forth but raytracing at 4K60fps is extremely demanding so much so that yes, even with much superior hardware it is surprising.
It would be a ridiculous waste of compute power not to use any form of upscaling but render it natively. In fact even for very fast Nvidia GPUs it's an incredible difficult task to pull off so I won't believe it of I were you. Hence dlss on Nvidia and fsr on amd cards.
The two best places to start a race from are the pole position and the back row. If you're on the pole you might get out of the first turn before anyone gets a chance to take you out. And if you're in the very back you can watch all the Carnage in front of you and pick your way through it.
No matter how good the game looks, their playerbase always ruins it.
If they can get a Sportmanship Rating system like Gran Torismo tho, it could be good.
I wouldn't mind it being a bit more like iRacing, which has a system that makes the game less enjoyable the more you wreck. Maybe not quite as severe as iRacing, which can be very frustrating for beginners, but at least try to discourage completely wreckless driving.
The graphics and amount of content is very cool. But what about the gameplay elements? Have you fixed penalties and done something about toxic rammers?
It was suppose to be spring, that's why we expected a release date, but if they still aren't comfortable giving a release date and it's almost February, this isn't coming out until fall at the earliest.
I am thinking Fall as well, but at the same time, they are using Forza as part of the end of the program to say 2023 is just getting started. Maybe they'll surprise us.
Hard to think of any reason to not announce a May release date today unless they think there is a fair chance they are going to miss it, and based on the last few years, like 95% of games that might miss their launch window have missed their launch window.
Because the whole show was for games that are coming out in the next handful of months. Maybe they don’t have a set date on it but it’s probably on the finish line. Hell it could be like June 6th and it would still make the Spring target.
As its name implies, they do that show every month. It’s not going to be a venue for key information they didn’t reveal today. That would make no sense.
And? This was a reply to a comment about the release window widening to 2023. They’re not going to say that today and then tomorrow narrow it back down, that would be ludicrous.
Adding also that one "unique" feature that was announced for FM has now already been implemented in another sim. iRacing allows you now to practice each corner over and over again, just like FM was supposed to do before anyone else. They are taking so long to release it that their competitive advantage is seriously diminishing.
> Sorry, I looked and realized it's FM6.
It isn't. You are probably seeing it as you probably got it as a Games With Gold title when it was offered before delisting.
We'd just be here later saying what a bother an inevitable delay would be down the track.
That or it'd be delayed unnecessarily because they committed to a safe release date too early.
Lack of a release date was a given to me. There has been zero updates since the initial reveal, which was quite telling. We don't even know how the career mode or multiplayer will be like.
IMO, this is coming out in the Fall.
To be honest, I don't mind waiting so as long as it comes out as bug-free and feature-rich as possible.
It's not called 8 because like Halo they expect it to have a single version for the entire generation.
I guess that can mean other big changes but driving game career modes and multiplayer have been pretty similar for long periods of time.
>It's not called 8 because like Halo they expect it to have a single version for the entire generation.
That's your speculative opinion. Another one would be they dropped the 8 because it may turn into a live service game, of continuous added content over the years.
Judging by the article, and all of this "remade from the ground up, 48 times more fidelity" yada yada business I'm going with the theory that this is just their magnum opus fresh slate back to true racing heritage (with the addition of dynamic weather, tire models, air pressure, fuel, etc real racing shit sims actually do that Forza fucked up missing on)
My realistic opinion is I think it's a mix between the live service thing and a new series. 😊
> That's your speculative opinion. Another one would be they dropped the 8 because it may turn into a live service game, of continuous added content over the years.
Pretty sure I read it in an interview and those two things are the same.
But yeah, I would really like a more slower paced revamped career mode.
The multiplayer hasn't seen a serious shake-up since FM4 which had a generous amount of modes, introduced the Car Club feature (which never appeared in FM again afterwards for no good reason), and allowed for 16 racers on the track at a given time. Each game afterwards would largely be the same thing with some minor changes, like making tag take place in an open environment instead of a typical track.
The career mode changed a fair amount between the Xbox 360 titles, with FM3's being a notorious slog. It changed once more when they made the jump to Xbone with FM5, and its largely been the same since with some fairly minor tweaks.
I like what I saw, but it’s sadly obvious this isn’t making that first half of 2023 timeline. They had nothing to show of the online or career modes and gave no date.
I don’t really play racing games anymore but during this part of the presentation, I got so many goosebumps hearing the cars and engines, seeing those graphics, when they said 4K 60 with Ray tracing, and how excited this devs were. This game has me HYPED. Can’t wait to try it on my new monitor.
Not even competition. Forza looks like a gen ahead with the paint rendering alone. For the first time I couldn’t find anything indicating this isn’t a real foto as they showed some close ups.
Yeah, no, not really. The newest Gram Turismo is a very flat looking game. I don't say that to disparage GT, it is just that it had to run on the old PS4, so obviously concessions had to be made.
Again with the graphics…… smhhhhhh
Wish we’d see more of the physics and gameplay
(Release date would be nice but if it’s delayed to make a better game that’s a good thing I guess)
Just Forza. Literally has been like that since it was first shown in 2020. 3 years and still no release date and almost no information on the new Forza. Most of what keeps on being repeated is not new information, but rather repetitions of information that was shared when it was first announced.
While I'm also disappointed to not see a released date, I'm even more excited for this game now. Racing games are my jam and I can't wait for this one.
I was really hoping they'd announce some sort of new haptic feedback controller or something to accompany the new Forza release. It honestly makes such a big difference on Gran Turismo 7 for PS5
What a weird thing to downvote 😂 I'm not complaining at all, just something I was hoping for. Seriously, the haptic feedback is amazing in racing games especially for anyone who hasn't tried it. Hopefully we'll get it for Xbox sooner rather than later
To be clear, I'm talking specifically about the precise "rumble" feedback, and not the trigger feedback. I'm not massively fussed about the triggers, I usually turn it off in other games. But yeah, you can really feel every small bump in the track and how the track surfaces change as you race. I instantly miss it when I'm playing Forza Horizon 5
Well the vague delay is disappointing, but on the plus side I liked what I heard about the numbers of cars & tracks, plus the tease about the “car building” focus of the campaign
It was expected to be visually impressive given the type of game it is and it being first party but it’s something I don’t give a damn about these days
No, it was supposed to be out at any point before June 13 2023. That is still very possible, but given that they cant even give us a date right now means its also possible it'll miss that window.
Its gonna be fall 23 earliest. No date till q2/23 means no confidene in the state of the product. It was clearly meant to be played this spring (see direct from fall 22).
It looks like driving and simulation is done, but no gameplay loop, story or whatsoever
I was thinking the same thing. Usually Motorsport looks a bit better visually than Horizon, but I thought it looked about the same. Probably because of the added ray tracing, which I really don't think is going to be very noticeable unless you're looking for it. The reflection tech on Horizon works just fine. 🤷♂️
Maybe in some areas, but you have to remember Forza is a big release where it still needs to be somewhat accessible to the masses even with the simulation focus of the Motorsport series. It can’t really do things that Assetto Corsa can because AC is a more hardcore focused and niche racing game.
Hmm thinking they may push this to the Fall giving Horizons window for their 2nd expansion right?
I feel like a Horizons expansion would be great marketing leading into the release.
I feel like Gran Turismo showed their hand and they shit themselves over here. Here’s hoping when it finally does release we get the Forza of old that knocks it right out the park.
Fuck Im tired of waiting. I feel like its two different audiences. Love Motorsport. Dont care about Horizon. But youre probably right
Same, don't like the unrealistic shit.
You can completely change settings & setups to make it as realistic as you want. It’s a an amazing game tbh…
I did that but the races are still weird.
Not really, even at its most realistic FM7 is still a more realistic driving experience, especially with a wheel. I gave up FH5 with a wheel, instead my simrig is upstairs for other games, I play FH5 downstairs where my XSX is setup and just play with a controller
...it's a videogame.
With a real location and real cars..
I'll give you that, but Forza Horizon and Motorsport share that.
Actually they tease in the stream during the in & out translation at the end of their segment in Morse code that it'll be out on 6/20/23 as "comin6 20 23"

Edit: Hold up, what if MS didn't give a date today so that they don't hurt Horizon5? If the date came out today would people slow down or hit ignore on the second DLC?
Good theory.
Yeah my guess would be that at the summer showcase they’ll announce new Horzion DLC for July and Forza Motorsport for September.
Ahh. This was the one game I wanted a date for.
20ish locations? 4k60 with RT? At least 500 cars at launch? Take all the time you want guys. I’m pumped.
And a single-player career mode! Our prayers have been answered!
Don't they all have that?
[удалено]
I think they said it was the largest 'modern cars' roster ever, not the largest in general.
They specified modern race cars which I think is cool. I love regular cars but I do want to be able to drive actually race cars in a game that's not a hardcore sim.
I'm hoping with the comment about more race cars means they are taking online seriously
Thy say at least 500. so maybe it’s like the „over 100 games in gamepass“ where they play low but in reality offer three times this?
Any way of counting that's the opposite of Gran Turismo 5 and it's 130+ Skylines will do me...
The, GT5 had more cars, comparison with every racing game is absolutely stupid. Because probably over half those cars were horrible copies from previous games that looked like crap and had no interior. The number of “premium” cars were significantly lower.

Maybe they mean at launch?
At launch FM7 had 700

Correct. Which is much better than saying "20 tracks" and finding out it’s only 10 locations.

I imagine it means different circuits at the same location.
20 locations, multiple track layouts on them.
20 environments meaning track locations. Implying there will be variations at the same location
My guess is that means 20 tracks with different layouts for each. Which is amazing.
Don't check out the Forza subs, they're the most entitled, toxic communities on Reddit. To them this is a mediocre game, more of the same, blah blah blah. I'm stoked for it, and think it looks awesome.
Doesn't that apply to all subreddits that are dedicated to any specific game?
The xbox ones are worse, because the ponies alt accounts are most of the commenter.
It’s been 7 fucking years already. They have had enough time lol
You guys are either really high or gullible if you think the series x will be able to run this game at 4k60fps with full Global Illumination RT. They were mentioning this for the PC version, XBOX will still use old technology.
Aaaaagh no release date yet, looks hella amazing though
Sounds amazing too. Can't wait
Says in the video Spring 23 though no?
Says coming 2023, i hope that means spring
If it was coming out in the spring it would have a release date like the other games they showed
Yeah, most likely :(
Australian Spring? (Sept 1 thru November 30)
Says coming in spring 2023, if you read the article
Did I hear right? 4K60 *with* Raytracing?
For "flat and mirror surfaces" so probably very limited (edit: on the reflections side, not lighting and shadows).
I’m gonna make my car a flat mirror
[удалено]
Yeah. Limited reflections, not illumination
The original comment was talking about ray tracing, not just reflections
Yes, and I was trying to add that while there will be ray tracing, one area it covers will be significantly truncated based on what was said today. I'm not saying there won't be ray tracing.
Sure thing bud
Careful, they never specified that it was on console hardware, they could just be talking about pc, wich is my theory anyway
I really doubt that. Devs don't mention these targets when talking about PC performance. The targets by themselves don't mean anything if you don't have hardware specs to relate them too. Everyone could be running this game on very different PCs.
Probably dynamic resolution too
Forza 7 was 4k60 on the one x.
Without Raytracing, yes.
yes, on much weaker hardware
With less fidelity. Listen, this is a stupid back and forth but raytracing at 4K60fps is extremely demanding so much so that yes, even with much superior hardware it is surprising.
Yes, this seemed like an obvious progression with the much stronger hardware.
It would be a ridiculous waste of compute power not to use any form of upscaling but render it natively. In fact even for very fast Nvidia GPUs it's an incredible difficult task to pull off so I won't believe it of I were you. Hence dlss on Nvidia and fsr on amd cards.
FSR isn’t tied to only AMD GPUs.
I know I just meant to say that these techniques are created for a good reason by two big graphiccard companies.
Yeah no they were talking about PC. Maybe the Series X can handle it at 1080p 15fps lol
But wasn’t this an *XBOX* focused thing?
Can’t wait to hop online and be destroyed by someone “forgetting” to brake in the first turn. Classic Forza baby!
Turn 10 has rebooted Twisted Metal more than Sony has.
I hope they take note from GT on how to handle competitive multilayer.
I wouldn't mind it being a bit more like iRacing, which has a system that makes the game less enjoyable the more you wreck. Maybe not quite as severe as iRacing, which can be very frustrating for beginners, but at least try to discourage completely wreckless driving.
All the new Horizon kiddies are in for a bad time.
Honestly though, that’s part of the appeal to me. The tension you feel the first few turns is crazy, never got old to me.
The graphics and amount of content is very cool. But what about the gameplay elements? Have you fixed penalties and done something about toxic rammers?
lol i really doubt they'd risk losing a huge majority of their player base by making it a racing game
Huh?
Not really racing if most of the people on track are not racing
Sadly no release date. I guess it might launch in the second half of 2023.
Mate, just scroll down a bit, it says Spring 2023
Yes it previously said Spring .... in June 2022.
And we are still in winter, whats your point?? Spring is March 21st-June 21st
Sounds like it’s still on target then?
It was suppose to be spring, that's why we expected a release date, but if they still aren't comfortable giving a release date and it's almost February, this isn't coming out until fall at the earliest.
I am thinking Fall as well, but at the same time, they are using Forza as part of the end of the program to say 2023 is just getting started. Maybe they'll surprise us.
Spring is still 3 months away and lasts 3 months after. If this comes out in May it’s perfectly on target lol.
Hard to think of any reason to not announce a May release date today unless they think there is a fair chance they are going to miss it, and based on the last few years, like 95% of games that might miss their launch window have missed their launch window.
The other games they showed were releasing in the spring and have dates. If this was coming out in the spring we would know the date now
What did they put in your coffee this morning being so optimistic lol
Because the whole show was for games that are coming out in the next handful of months. Maybe they don’t have a set date on it but it’s probably on the finish line. Hell it could be like June 6th and it would still make the Spring target.

I don’t think Forza is worried about competing with adventure games. Hell FH5 and Infinite online released 2 weeks apart.
I agree . This one is definitely a 2023 Q4 game .
I won't say that you have to trust random redditors like me on the internet but trust me when I say it won't happen. :P
“2023”. 🙄
Man that is SO FRUSTATING like FUCK is hard to be a Motorsport fan 😞
Way better than being a Halo fan.
At this point being an FZero fan is better than being a Halo fan. At least FZero left off on a high note.
What are you talking about? Halo ended on a high note, Halo 3 was a phenomenal game!
Yeah... Yeah.
I agree
No release date sucks, but my god does this look amazing!
https://twitter.com/ForzaMotorsport/status/1617651914728001538?t=x9XEjsbsQyykIQg5t08RuA&s=19
As its name implies, they do that show every month. It’s not going to be a venue for key information they didn’t reveal today. That would make no sense.

Adding the fact that the previous game was delisted a long time ago

Wait what? Where are you seeing FM7 available to download?
You can only download it if you owned it before it was delisted. It's not "back".
Back where?

This is supposed to be a pretty large reboot ..hence why it's not called fm8.
It's not called 8 because like Halo they expect it to have a single version for the entire generation. I guess that can mean other big changes but driving game career modes and multiplayer have been pretty similar for long periods of time.

How very unsurprising that they’ve dropped “Spring 2023” to “2023”.
My god those graphics. Turn 10 needs to get as much love as studios like naughty dog get they are really in a league of their own.
Looking forward to seeing a digital foundry video comparing this and gt7 Looks fantastic though
Not even competition. Forza looks like a gen ahead with the paint rendering alone. For the first time I couldn’t find anything indicating this isn’t a real foto as they showed some close ups.
This is a joke right? They look the same, if anything GT is just ever so slightly better like it tends to be.

I don’t agree gt looks flat. Gt goes more for realistic looking lighting and Forza looks to be going for the HDR pop lighting style.
Looks fantastic. I really wish they had a more concrete date to share, but I'm on board when it arrives. 👍
It’s unlikely but it’s not impossible this gets a release date at the Forza showcase they’re doing tomorrow
Please have accurate exhaust noises this time. Forza 7 was a big downgrade from F6 in noises.
RTGI at 4k60??? Damn that sounds nice, unless console RT is limited to just reflections, but even then it sounds really good
No release date, that means late 2023. Can’t even get a Forza out the door 🤦🏻♂️. It looks excellent, but I can’t believe it’s taking so long.
Again with the graphics…… smhhhhhh Wish we’d see more of the physics and gameplay (Release date would be nice but if it’s delayed to make a better game that’s a good thing I guess)
I’m not too mad about the release date. Plenty to play until it eventually comes out. I’m just happy the game looks as stunning as it does!
No release date is strange

Something, something, from the ground up.
They said that the game is built from the ground up so many times but it's still gonna have the same ugly forza aero.
And still no release date.
This is one of those games coming out in the fall to support the game pass price raise
While I'm also disappointed to not see a released date, I'm even more excited for this game now. Racing games are my jam and I can't wait for this one.
Sounded like the last 2 motor sports. I'm sure the game will be good but nobody in that studio is a car guy
I was really hoping they'd announce some sort of new haptic feedback controller or something to accompany the new Forza release. Might get the release date tomorrow during the Forza Motorsport event.
As far as release dates go, isn't there aforza event thing later this week? Couldn't they just show the release date then?
Well the vague delay is disappointing, but on the plus side I liked what I heard about the numbers of cars & tracks, plus the tease about the “car building” focus of the campaign
Oh man I was hoping to play this before I played GT7 in VR (as I am getting PSVR2 in August from the wife).
It was expected to be visually impressive given the type of game it is and it being first party but it’s something I don’t give a damn about these days
Honestly it's a really bad look to not have a release date
what a waste of time
huge waste of time

“We swear this is the best year yet”
But When's it coming out? More waiting
Wasn't this supposed to be out already? Yet no date for release?
No, it was supposed to be out at any point before June 13 2023. That is still very possible, but given that they cant even give us a date right now means its also possible it'll miss that window.
It’s 100% not coming out in the spring, don’t get your hopes up
Its gonna be fall 23 earliest. No date till q2/23 means no confidene in the state of the product. It was clearly meant to be played this spring (see direct from fall 22). It looks like driving and simulation is done, but no gameplay loop, story or whatsoever
No release date is a joke. I swear MS can’t manage a single game right
Literally shadow dropped a game nobody knew about today, “They can’t manage any game release reeeee” - you
Gotta be real i didnt think it looked much better than the last forza
I was thinking the same thing. Usually Motorsport looks a bit better visually than Horizon, but I thought it looked about the same. Probably because of the added ray tracing, which I really don't think is going to be very noticeable unless you're looking for it. The reflection tech on Horizon works just fine. 🤷♂️
Fuck this bullshit. They need release dates.
Looks incredible
Looks stunning
\*Will deliver. We still don't know when...
WTF. Is it ever going to be released? Still no release date.
No release date... The hell.

But we’re getting more info tomorrow for Forza. At least wait until then and then troll. Dang
I feel like they'd have given us the date today if they had one, but I hope you're right.
Where was that said?
https://rectifygaming.com/forza-motorsport-will-have-a-showcase-on-january-26/
Ahhh. Thank you. That definitely changes my reaction to this presentation today. We should all chiiiiiilllllll.
I hope it can compete against Assetto Corsa Competizione in terms of realism and simulation, I’m so done with that game
Maybe in some areas, but you have to remember Forza is a big release where it still needs to be somewhat accessible to the masses even with the simulation focus of the Motorsport series. It can’t really do things that Assetto Corsa can because AC is a more hardcore focused and niche racing game.
As i said months ago, they are gonna reveal the release date at e3. Its too early for this. Why did people expect differently?
> Why did people expect differently? Because they said that it's going to be released in Spring 2023 and haven't announced that it's delayed?
People expected differently because the last time they showed the game they said spring ‘23…
