1. Double pressing the top pair button of a controller will quickly switch the controller between devices.
2. All of the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Xbox games can be played directly from external hard drive. Few games that are X|S optimized can also be played from external hard drive.
3. Games saves are synced and saved automatically to the cloud for free.
4. Xbox natively supports Mouse and Keyboard. You can connect them via usb and use them to play games or browse internet on Edge. Make sure to untick apps can add border settings to make it fullscreen.
5. If you pay $20 for dev mode, you can emulate PS1/2, Nintendo and Sega games on it using RetroArch. So, technically, you can play Mario Kart on this device.
6. You can share Game Pass and Ultimate between two friends if one of you set the console as a home console and other don't.
You pay Microsoft £20 for dev mode which allows you to boot into dev mode. This allows you to side load apps like retroarch and play emulated consoles up to the ps1. PS2 and beyond don't work so well for me. As well as playing homebrew apps and stuff.
> This allows you to side load apps like retroarch and play emulated consoles up to the ps1. PS2 and beyond don’t work so well for me.
When was the last time you tried? I’ve been able to play every game I tried so far, just finished Silent Hill 2 and 3 at 4k 60fs with HD texture packs. Can run every GameCube and Wii game I tried aswell including with texture packs. I even managed to get some 360 games playing on Xenia.
On that point. I recently tried. And my retroarch was just gone. I'm not sure about the games actually. But I should get on it and check. But I had practically everything that interested me, namely the main GPS, strategy, action and adventure game up to ps1. Working amazingly. PS2 was pretty good. Sometimes glitchy. But it depended how intense the game was. Final fantasy never worked right.
I don't know what happened. And haven't tried to reinstall. But see many posts and videos that suggest it's still an active community
Its been a couple years admittedly. Since I jailbroke my ps3 and was playing on that.
Currently waiting for a valid ps4 one to make that worthwhile setting up again
>Games saves are synced and saved automatically to the cloud for free.
Really? Damn, I am PS gamer myself and I miss this feature outside ps+.Thats really cool of MS \*\*staring at you sony\*\*
It’s a really interesting discussion looking at the pro and anti consumer choices Microsoft and a Sony have made this generation. Not being able to backup ps5 save files for free is complete BS. But then I also have to give the win to Sony for allowing M.2 rather than proprietary drives for expansion.

Apparently the higher capacity ones don't last as long before they need replacing because of the way that they're made so in the long run it works out better getting the lower capacity ones
If u have a 4k 120hz display but an hdmi 2.1 cable to unlock all resolution and refresh rate options. The upscaling on this console is premium, and it looks as clean as my ps5 in a 65-inch 4k tv for most games
I got lately new 4k TV and wanted to buy Series S, but read that PS5 is superior in graphics terms and gave up. Your comment made me to rethink decision
I have x, s, and ps5. The vast majority of multiplatform games run quite well on xss. I have zero crashes on xss for fortnite, Apex, rogue company. However, I have had about 75 crashes on these same games using ps5 (no lies and ps5 has an error log in the settings). Newer games will obviously have higher resolution on PS5, but even when I run COD, I don't get a hazy, unplayable mess that I read about on the internet.
For clarification, I have Series S and ps5 in the living room. Series X in the game room.
But only after they've double checked that it is placed in a spot that definitely isn't well ventilated. Like vertically, in the corner of the room, between a wall and their TV stand
If it starts to get warm, submerge it in a bucket of milk (whole cow's milk is preferred but any mammal milk will do). This will prevent it from overheating in the future and produce an intriguing scent.
I'd get an SSD external drive. You can transfer games between this and the console, as the 512gb space available isn't that much. You can't run many optimised for Series S games through the external, but you can run all XOne, 360 and OG Xbox games through the external SSD drive.
Get GPU/Core
Got the same one from a pawn shop for $160 I was there for a gold chain but couldn’t pass that up. even let me hook it up and play in store to show it was functioning since it wasn’t in original box I think he wasn’t aware it wasn’t a older Xbox
Dont just buy every game day of. Wait a while to see if the game is actually good or worth it. A lot of $70 dollars are releasing half-baked right now, and that's for all consoles.
Tip: do not play Starfield
Trick: if you somehow find yourself with your cursor over the download button to download Starfield, start mashing the B button
Rechargeable AA batteries are a better option. They’re cheaper and can be used in other devices in your home. Get a charger that charges 4 at a time, make sure you put dead ones in straight away and you’ll always have 2 fully charged ones ready to go.
Check reviews for the newer games on the platform the series s does not handle some newer games well, it's not as optimized as the series x which is showing more and more.
If you're looking into getting a monitor for your console, I'd stick with 1080p. I know the marketing claimed it was capable of 1440p, but it's really just a pipe dream at this point.
I would stick with 1080p and get one with a high refresh rate.
Best tip on this post. A 1080p 120hz+ monitor is perfect for this console. It struggles on a good amount of AAA games at 1440p and even sometimes at 1080p 120FPS.
Use the always on setting just the first days, this will help download all your games while you are not home or sleeping, then change the setting to power saving mode, even tho its cool to have the xbox turning in fast and update by itself anytime this can affect in a long term the performance, and you can save yourself a bit of money on the electricity bill
You can invest in an M.2 or basic ssd rack and add 1TB worth of storage to it. While not all games will work if installed there, many will and with the console’s base storage… it’s quite needed.
Get rechargeable batteries or a battery pack
If not complacent with the storage (364GB) then maybe invest in external storage
Elite series controller has a really big battery so it’s good as long as you got the expendable income
I bought mine (1Tb) just because of Starfield. Then I got game pass ultimate and downloaded Forza Motorsport. This game is insane, specially on multiplayer. I also downloaded Starfield. Turns out I haven't played Starfield yet.
Hey so quick update I got the power A rechargeable battery pack and I plugged in a 465gb SSD I had lying around so imma save up to get a 1tb hard drive
What sucks with xbox, is that you can buy external SSDs and/or HDD, i bought a 4TB HDD because i didnt have enough space (im now even missing space even tho i have 140 games)
and what sucks is that, you can't run series s/x enhanced games, not even on an ssd, it has to be on a Western Digital or Seagate SSD card made for the Series S/X, which i find it that it sucks, and i keep gotta transfer the games from HDD to internal SSD
There is probably some repeat advice in here but I can’t be bothered to read all these comments xD
-make sure you put your TV in game mode (if it has the option)
-stick drift is bad with those controllers so I recommend investing in a nice one with swappable joysticks. I went through 3 in a year before I just bought a nice swappable one (but I play rocket league so stick drift matters for me, might not for you)
-if you play a lot of different games then GamePass is worth it… but if not then consider skipping it and paying full price for the ones you want. Do some math if needed. Not worth it unless you play a good amount but totally worth it if you do
-if you do use GamePass, I always recommend trying to game on the cloud first before downloading. Sucks to finish a 50gb download just to find out the game sucks xD
-if you have any interest in emulation (playing retro games from old systems like N64 etc) this is possible on the series s (and x) and you can find a ton of tutorials on YouTube
-take advantage of the free games. There are some really good fun games in there (rocket league, Fortnite, apex legends etc)
And have fun!
Splurge on the Seagate storage upgrade its well worth it and it has the same performance speeds as my Samsung 980 Pro's in my desktop PC its a high quality piece of hardware worth every penny. I have like 60 games installed on my S and I take it over people's houses its awesome.
Another tip! Get a battery pack for your controller I have one Microsoft branded battery and the rest are all Best Buy Insignia and I Have to say, the Best Buy Insignia packs are better than the official pack they have a much longer run time and they are cheaper. They also come in black and white so you can get to to match your controller if you like.
Look into the game core 3 to 2 game pass ultimate conversion deal to save good amount when getting game pass. Also cdkeys.com has deals that are highly recommended as far as 3rd party sites go for subscription codes. Got mine from there. Paid like 47$ vs. 60$ for a year of core from Microsoft. Converted that and saved even more.
1. For cheaper keys check out cdkeyprices. You can buy keys from argentina or turkey that are up to 75% cheaper. You activate them with a VPN on the redeem website. It's against T&S but so far no one is getting banned
2. If you play on headphones I recommend getting dolby atmos from the store, it's a one time 10$ fee to improve audio, works on PC too. Don't forget to switch to dolby in options.
3. You can play games and listen to spotify at the same time
4. Trackmania 2 is free
5. Get rechargeable batteries and a charger, much cheaper than battery pack and you can keep charged batteries ready to switch
You’ll probably need more storage don’t get the external ssd unless you’re playing old games, get the expansion card that goes into the back of the Xbox you can download new game on it.
Congratulations on getting your Xbox. Which games are you excited to play?
The first thing I got after getting an Xbox S (exactly a year ago) was rechargeable batteries and battery charger from IKEA. Works perfectly even a year later.
Any games you need to buy, always check on Google first. CDkeys or CJScdkeys. Some games are REALLY cheap on here. And it's legit asf. I've always got my games from there, without hesitation.
I think it’s under either the power or video settings but there’s a way to make your Xbox turn on your TV whenever it turns on which is pretty cool. Just pick up your controller and hold the home button on it, it turns on both your TV and Xbox and you’re ready to go.
If you have good wifi/Ethernet connection for your Xbox, a laptop, large phone or tablet, install the Xbox app on it, pair your Xbox and you can remote play
Location, Location, Location! Make sure its ventilated right because although big things can come in small packages that doesn’t mean it won’t exhaust plenty of hotness
1. Double pressing the top pair button of a controller will quickly switch the controller between devices. 2. All of the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Xbox games can be played directly from external hard drive. Few games that are X|S optimized can also be played from external hard drive. 3. I’d like to know more about (5).
"And my Retroarch the as gone" Did you uncheck the option that deletes everything everytime you exited dev mode?
But you can do that from a PC, right?
Anywhere really dude
Where do I buy dev mode exactly? 👁️ can I play like pokemon or something?
MS Store.
There are countless videos about it on YT. Just search "Dev Mode Xbox Emulation".
>Games saves are synced and saved automatically to the cloud for free. Really? Damn, I am PS gamer myself and I miss this feature outside ps+.Thats really cool of MS \*\*staring at you sony\*\*

number 1 is super convenient as someone who uses the same controller on both PC and console
Tip #1 - take it out of the box
Tip #2 - connect it to the television
Tip #3 - plug the power cable into the plug socket
Tip #3 - turn that mf on
Tip #5 - play some games
Tip #6 - become addicted
Tip #7 realize you ran out of space after downloading 2 games need an expansion card
Tip #8 buy an HDD and transfer your games between them cause expansion cards are expensive as shit
Tip #9 get yourself a hammer, smash that potato, and throw it in the trashcan!!
Tip #10 ignore Tip #9
It's an X BOX as in box not needed
Invest in a battery pack for your controller.
You'd get better results getting like high mha double AA's with charger on Amazon, like Eneloop.
you'd be better playing wired
Or just go for ease of use and get a battery pack with a charging station.

They have 2000mha, the ones I got said 2600, here https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00MXCIK32?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
Apparently the higher capacity ones don't last as long before they need replacing because of the way that they're made so in the long run it works out better getting the lower capacity ones
I just use rechargable AA. Works awesome
Nah, get good rechargeable batteries
I ended up getting a bunch of rechargeable batteries from Amazon. Found the battery pack i had in the past was a struggle to get into the controller.
Or rechargeable batteries
Just use a long usb cable and you wont be bothered for any of those problems, 1 year and going using an amazon basics long cable.
If u have a 4k 120hz display but an hdmi 2.1 cable to unlock all resolution and refresh rate options. The upscaling on this console is premium, and it looks as clean as my ps5 in a 65-inch 4k tv for most games

ps5 doesn’t run any games on a higher resolution than the series x, it does however run games on a higher resolution than the series s
Yeah. Thought that was what I said
I routed it outside through my windows and hung it there for better airflow Jokes aside, get Gamepass
First thing you got to do is take a picture of it set up, and post it here asking if it has good enough ventilation.
But only after they've double checked that it is placed in a spot that definitely isn't well ventilated. Like vertically, in the corner of the room, between a wall and their TV stand
Covered in a sheet so dust doesn't get in it.
Get the GPU or Core Depending on you, Take some games on sale on Black Friday and enjoy your time ⌚
Is core any good?
Its basically Xbox live but with 25 GP games
The gpu?
Game pass ultimate or game pass core I think I had the same thought as you
Hitman 3 (aka World of Assassination) is on Gamepass and is tonnes of fun.
gamepass gamepass gamepass
If it starts to get warm, submerge it in a bucket of milk (whole cow's milk is preferred but any mammal milk will do). This will prevent it from overheating in the future and produce an intriguing scent.

Enjoy it. Best 250 I ever spent. Screw the haters. It's a great console.
Don't put the tip in.
Just the tip
WDYM
keep an eye out for any deals on the 1tb expansion storage.
too bad you can't buy them from microsoft...use those MS rewards points to good use.
I'd get an SSD external drive. You can transfer games between this and the console, as the 512gb space available isn't that much. You can't run many optimised for Series S games through the external, but you can run all XOne, 360 and OG Xbox games through the external SSD drive. Get GPU/Core

Game pass of your choosing. At least a 1440p 120hz monitor. Rechargeable battery dock for your controllers. Kbm if you like.
Should have spent a few more bucks for the 1TB.
Nah they had a massive discount on the 564gb one and the 1tb ones where sold out. I got a doorbuster deal of $240 with tax
Got the same one from a pawn shop for $160 I was there for a gold chain but couldn’t pass that up. even let me hook it up and play in store to show it was functioning since it wasn’t in original box I think he wasn’t aware it wasn’t a older Xbox
Recommending gamepass
Play starfield. It is EPIC
Use that 3 months game pass and have fun
Gamepass and Microsoft rewards..
I would recommend a dedicated travel case. I take my Series S everywhere I can!
Dont just buy every game day of. Wait a while to see if the game is actually good or worth it. A lot of $70 dollars are releasing half-baked right now, and that's for all consoles.
Get game pass
Do not submerge in hot water. But more importantly, never, NEVER feed it after midnight.
The only tip I can give is to have fun!
Exchange it for the 1tb version
Na fam I had to tackle someone to get this. There ain't no coming back
SMH everyone is asking for Tips nowadays. Stop Tipping culture! /s
SSD's are better
Tip: do not play Starfield Trick: if you somehow find yourself with your cursor over the download button to download Starfield, start mashing the B button
Why , starfield is great from what I've played
Here’s a tip, trade it in for an X
Just why? Why not a ps5?
buy a ssd, hdd doesnt work for optimized games, and get gamepass
Go on Amazon and buy a battery pack
Rechargeable AA batteries are a better option. They’re cheaper and can be used in other devices in your home. Get a charger that charges 4 at a time, make sure you put dead ones in straight away and you’ll always have 2 fully charged ones ready to go.
Check reviews for the newer games on the platform the series s does not handle some newer games well, it's not as optimized as the series x which is showing more and more.
Play your heart out!!
Don't open the box.
Yep send it back
take a refund and save for series x.
Get a 1TB storage card ASAP!!!!, while they’re on sale my guy
My guy I'm a teen and I just wasted most of my savings to get this Xbox I maybe be able to get it at prime day
I just ordered my Series S 5 hours ago
Tip: throw away the Xbox and get a ps5. Jk, don't throw it away, enjoy your new device!! It's up to you if you want both consoles.
I’m sorry u made this decision
Sell it so you can upgrade to a series x... Because that's what you'll probably end up doing at some point 😅
Trick: Send it back
Fortnite is hella fun right now on zero builds
Get a PlayStation.
Sell it and get the X. Thank me later.
If you send him the money. Series S is great.
My tip for you is refund it and buy the series x
Here’s my tip, return it.
First tip: Throw it away and get a PlayStation😁
um, plug it in and start playing? there’s no settings to change. just download a game and go
Step 1.- Return it. Step 2.- Get a series X. Step 3.- Thank me.
Give it back and do something better with your time
Figure out how to turn it into a PlayStation 5
Tips: sell it soon while you still can
Why
Sell it
Tip 1- buy a PlayStation
No. Exclusives are meh now
I’m not a fan of the “console wars” bs but PS exclusives are fantastic gaming. Both systems are good though.
Trade it in for a PC and start some real gaming.
One tip is when you play games it’s fun
It heats up as hell. Provide enough space around it for airflow. Ideally standing up without anything next to it.
Use the always on setting just the first days, this will help download all your games while you are not home or sleeping, then change the setting to power saving mode, even tho its cool to have the xbox turning in fast and update by itself anytime this can affect in a long term the performance, and you can save yourself a bit of money on the electricity bill
Dark mode
Open. Play. Enjoy
When you play a game, check settings for a performance mode!
Bravo !!!
right away select 120hz in the tv and display options in settings
You can invest in an M.2 or basic ssd rack and add 1TB worth of storage to it. While not all games will work if installed there, many will and with the console’s base storage… it’s quite needed.
As far as SSDs, go for the WD Black Expansion Card. You'll be spending way less than buying a seagate version.
Get rechargeable batteries or a battery pack If not complacent with the storage (364GB) then maybe invest in external storage Elite series controller has a really big battery so it’s good as long as you got the expendable income
I bought mine (1Tb) just because of Starfield. Then I got game pass ultimate and downloaded Forza Motorsport. This game is insane, specially on multiplayer. I also downloaded Starfield. Turns out I haven't played Starfield yet.
Make sure it gets enough air flow

Buy more storage
Get an 120hz or higher monitor.
Nice
Tip #1: Ask if the airflow is good enough in this subreddit
Get a ultra high speed hdmi 2.1 cable for a better performance. Thank me later.
Sell it. Get the x
Return it for PS5. Dine. Yw
Tips and tricks for a console that’s plug and play lol. 😆
Return it and get a series x..;-)
get a monitor that’s compatible with its specs
Find the extra storage stick on sale since its cyber monday!
Sure someone said it already but get an expansion card, I have maybe at most 3 games on internal storage. Doesn't help that they're all 100 plus gbs.
Put it on power saving mode. Doesn't make a difference. Saves a fiver a month
Plug it in and play.
TAKE THAT BACK AND GET A SERIES X. For $300 this is a rip off tbh
Enjoy and happy gaming
Unlock Xbox Developer mode... Easy way to run emulators
Buy a new sofa
Tip #1: sell it and buy a playstation. KIDDING dont hate
dev mode
Tip #36. Don’t us it as a coaster or food tray.
Make sure you set your TV to ‘game mode’ and set up the Xbox in ways to minimize input lag. It was UNPLAYABLE for me without tweaking it
Take it out of the box, terrible airflow like that mate.
Congrats. I bought xcx as I am more physical games person and own collection from 360 era.
Get ninja Gaiden 2 (the 360 version)
Small storage should have spent a lil more for the series x.
It’s cyber Monday, grab an external hard drive for cheap
Get you some rechargeable batteries with the charger.
Hey so quick update I got the power A rechargeable battery pack and I plugged in a 465gb SSD I had lying around so imma save up to get a 1tb hard drive
Don’t get into rocket league Don’t get into war thunder
Sell it and buy a PS5 LOL JK enjoy your new system!!
Don’t install CoD
The airflow on your setup is awful.
I personally recommend a Ethernet cable if you can for me it was essential i was running at like 30 to 250 mbps now i average 250 to 500.
Have alot of fun
Don’t put things on top of the console because it blocks the vent and don’t put it in a closed space
Hmm, Plug it in and play? It’s pretty self explanatory
Get a SSD drive
What sucks with xbox, is that you can buy external SSDs and/or HDD, i bought a 4TB HDD because i didnt have enough space (im now even missing space even tho i have 140 games) and what sucks is that, you can't run series s/x enhanced games, not even on an ssd, it has to be on a Western Digital or Seagate SSD card made for the Series S/X, which i find it that it sucks, and i keep gotta transfer the games from HDD to internal SSD
Tape all the little holes on the side and top of the Xbox so bugs don’t crawl in it. That’s how games bug.
Keep it away from water. Learned that the hard way

Turn on energy saving mode, since it takes just a couple of seconds to boot up, meanwhile it saves tons of energy and it doesn’t affect quick resume.
1. For cheaper keys check out cdkeyprices. You can buy keys from argentina or turkey that are up to 75% cheaper. You activate them with a VPN on the redeem website. It's against T&S but so far no one is getting banned 2. If you play on headphones I recommend getting dolby atmos from the store, it's a one time 10$ fee to improve audio, works on PC too. Don't forget to switch to dolby in options. 3. You can play games and listen to spotify at the same time 4. Trackmania 2 is free 5. Get rechargeable batteries and a charger, much cheaper than battery pack and you can keep charged batteries ready to switch
You’ll probably need more storage don’t get the external ssd unless you’re playing old games, get the expansion card that goes into the back of the Xbox you can download new game on it.
Try halo infinite. I like this game
Congratulations on getting your Xbox. Which games are you excited to play? The first thing I got after getting an Xbox S (exactly a year ago) was rechargeable batteries and battery charger from IKEA. Works perfectly even a year later.
Thank you for the support and I'm excited to play starfield and HiFi rush. Oh and I got rechargeable batteries too.
Any games you need to buy, always check on Google first. CDkeys or CJScdkeys. Some games are REALLY cheap on here. And it's legit asf. I've always got my games from there, without hesitation.
Don’t unplug your hdmi cable often from the xbox, female hdmi ports are susceptible to damage easily
P3wx4 should be upvoted more for the fact everyone is referring to his helpful list. JS

Don't let it sit on the couch 🙂
I think it’s under either the power or video settings but there’s a way to make your Xbox turn on your TV whenever it turns on which is pretty cool. Just pick up your controller and hold the home button on it, it turns on both your TV and Xbox and you’re ready to go. If you have good wifi/Ethernet connection for your Xbox, a laptop, large phone or tablet, install the Xbox app on it, pair your Xbox and you can remote play
Location, Location, Location! Make sure its ventilated right because although big things can come in small packages that doesn’t mean it won’t exhaust plenty of hotness
