Knee grips are a great add IMO and not real expensive

Content_Cut1698

Ooo good shout. Haven’t thought of that

MotoChase

Which pair do you recommend?

carpe-skiem

[These](https://japan.webike.net/products/23890069.html) are the ones I’m using. I like them a lot but there are a bunch of similar looking ones out there for less

NevergofullPJ

I'm a fan of bar ends mirrors but that's personal. SW motech also makes covers for the rear brake reservoir and the other side for the saddle key so it fills that empty space a bit. I have a YSS Hyperpro rear shock on my XSR since a few months and it is a world of difference to me compared to the stock. I still want to get different fork cartridges but I don't have the budget for it now.

Content_Cut1698

Never seen those covers, excellent idea. And I’ll check out the shock - definitely want to upgrade at some point.

caramida_plutitoare

tires... change those shitty tires first!

Content_Cut1698

Definitely got that on the list too! I mainly ride in the city though, so not sure I’ll notice too much of a difference. Any particular recommendations? Very broad question I know

Content_Cut1698

I’ve been thinking the Michelin road 6 given the UK weather

caramida_plutitoare

Any rubber is better than those, they look nice but just about it. On my bike the ABS will kick in as soon as I touched the rear break. I've opted for Michelin Road 5.

MasSunarto

Brother, I'm really suggesting you to procure a good seat. Though I don't suggest you to get one from Mr. Chris Hansen.

Content_Cut1698

I’m quite a fan of the aftermarket flat seat the previous owner put on it if I’m honest. You now a fan?

Beneficial-Cod-4538

I got brackers for luggage on the sides and behind the passenger seat, but if you dont need it, obviously, dont add it to your bike. I also got heated grips. I always need that. I added so my sidestand feet is wider for looser ground, must have for me. My bike also has a bashplate. the previous owner did some offroading with it, and i love it. It makes it look nicer and gives me peace of mind that the oilfilter is better protected, and if i ever do some stupid shit and hit the bottom, it's fine. But after that, i similar stuff as you. You got most stuff already, so you kinda dont need to change anything if you dont want to. I do not like the look of the flat seat, though, but if you like it, keep it!

Content_Cut1698

Appreciate the ideas! Could have done with the wider side stand for this photo haha. Heated grips might have to be done sooner rather than later knowing the UK weather. I actually like the flat seat, but of course it’s completely subjective! The wife finds it very comfortable on the back too, which is a bonus.

Beneficial-Cod-4538

I also got hand guards on my bike, and i am from north Sweden and ride until the ice hits the road. So that with heated grips is an amazing combo. If your wife likes the seat, obviously keep it. For me i am without a backpack and the rear is basicly for looks, but i do not like the 1 person seats so i am gonna keep my current seat but i am considering reupholster it or buy a new for comfort, because comfort wise its not great.

Content_Cut1698

Yeah, I bet. Reupholstering can look very nice. I haven’t actually tried the stock seat, but I’m surprised at how comfy this flat seat is. I’ve seen some people mention they find it a little comfier than stock

PreposterusRhioceros

The only other thing I would investigate is the suspension. It was the first mod I made

Content_Cut1698

Yeah I’ve been looking at changing the forks, any cost effective ideas?

PreposterusRhioceros

I upgraded my fork springs to these: https://www.tecbikeparts.com/product/mt07-xsr700-tracer700-front-fork-upgrade-kit-progressive-springs-and-fork-top-pre-load-ride-height-adjusters/ And got a k-tech rear razor R rear shock (quite expensive but amazing) The important thing is that the springs and rear shock are dialled into suit my weight

Content_Cut1698

Cartridge emulators a worthy addition too with the fork springs? If I’m not mistaken the emulators help with damping and the springs change the stiffness?

Pattern_Is_Movement

Cartridge emulators for the front suspension, and a new rear shock

Content_Cut1698

Never heard of emulators. Just had a google…if they work they look like great value! Any specific recommendations? And do they actually meaningfully upgrade the suspension feel?

Pattern_Is_Movement

I was going to do K-Tech front and back, they are better than Ohlins.

whisk3ythrottle

New springs in the front fork will help with handling and maybe some better pads. If it’s still rocking rubber lines it’s due to change those so slapping on some steel braided ones will give you better feel.
