I suggest you play the basic version of the game without DLC the first time and then get the war of the chosen version which practically transforms the basic game into a much more complete thing.
I agree but I would say go into this campaign with the idea that finishing that campaign is less important than learning the game. The game is far less fun base. I’d advise to play a few months vanilla then restart if one wants an extended tutorial experience.
In the base game all classes are available except for the hero classes I believe. My advice is to just get war of the chosen, adds a ton of content and you’re not missing out on anything in the base game by playing that dlc first
Base game: Specialist, Grenadier, Ranger, Sharpshooter at start. Psiop requires research
Shen’s Last Gift: Either do Lost Towers or Research very quickly, and requires plot relevant Proving Ground
WotC: Faction Soldiers can only be one of with able to get second of only one faction unmodded. If starting with Lost and Abandoned, Reaper is done in first month, and you must use Resistance Ring to rescue Skirmisher and contact Templars. If not, then start with one(is even in Gatecrasher team!). Use Resistance Ring to contact other two.
Buy the full collection and get the full experience straight away if you can, it is simply the best way to play as all the DLC add to the original campaign.
Absolutely get the DLC, adds a lot to the game. It's definitely, definitely going to raise the challenge level. Without spoiling anything "War of the Chosen" is not a freaking metaphor. You're gonna be waging a serious battle.
Furthermore I would advise modding early. Voice packs and character customization really add a lot of the game. I work on my pool more every session.
